WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

Hey there! Is there room for one more here?

Let me introduce myself. After having two kids I found myself being about 60 lbs overweight. After I had my last DS in June of 07 I decided to join WW-followed it until I went on a cruise in March and lost 31 lbs. A month ago, I decided it was time to take off the rest of the weight. When I weighed myself I had gained 11 of the lbs back. Tried some unconventional methods for weight loss and lost 16 lbs over the course of the last three weeks but decided this just wasn't for me. So...here I am back at WW. Started on Monday and will go for my first WI on Saturday morning. So far so good!

So...that's my story. I'm down a total of 36 with 21 more to go. I hope to accomplish this by my next cruise in April. Hope to see you all around on the thread! Thanks to the OP for starting this.

I got a surprise last night at WI. I was up .4! not down like I wanted. I was disappointed, I was OP all week long, took walks and watched my portions. Next time I am having that glass of wine!

tiggerlover- I am working on Thanksgiving. We talked about it in the meeting last night and it was scary! Even though we all follow CORE the desserts were wicked!

I am planning to lighten up the traditional sides that we will have like the stuffing and gravy.

The veggies will be CORE mostly and I will make some desserts. I will post my menu when I finish working it out if you want. WE can compare notes.
Our leader said to look out for the day after Thanksgiving, it is worse than the actual day. I bet she is right, I used to graze all day and then have leftovers for supper. Deserts lasted all weekend and into the beginning of the following week. This year will probably be the same with less in between nibbling, but more WW friendly foods so that I am not throwing my girls and myself under the bus.
 Hang in there with that gain. I'm sure it is just some fluid, and if you stick with the program, you'll see it gone next week. It is very frustrating when we are on track, yet we still see a gain. I find that sometimes, I start to lose control then, figuring what the heck, I might as well deserve the gain, but then it becomes a true gain. Sounds like you have an awesome thanksgiving plan.

Has anyone come up with a plan for Thanksgiving to stay OP or are you giving yourself the day off?

My thoughts are to eat the white meat, lots of vegetables and choose only one starch (stuffing, potatoes or biscuit) and to limit the gravy. As for dessert I am going to bring a pumpkin pudding pie made with skim milk and FF Cool Whip so at least there is one dessert that wouldn't be so bad.

What are y'all doing?
I think I'm making the same pie. My family gatherings are typically full of high fat sides, and desserts. I'm planning to bring a ww friendly pie, and maybe your pumpkin praline cake or a trifle, and I'm making the squash. We always have a cheesy potato casserole, and green bean casserole, with the stuffing and turkey. My goal is to take a small portion of each, and stick with white meat, and not to have seconds. For dessert I'll have plan to have a couple small pieces of pie or some trifle. I am on call from 3-11 that afternoon, so the ideal thing for me would be if I got called in to work for a few hours, and totally missed either dinner or dessert. In the morning we usuallly go out to a breakfast buffet before the high school football game that my nephew plays in, so I'm going to go light on that, and stick with the scrambled eggs and fruit, and stay away from the meats. It is a pretty challenging day for me, and I will bring my tracker, and write everything down. I've found when there's lots of munchies out, it's a good time to play with the kids and get away from them.

Welcome and congratulations on your loss so far. You're doing great.

What kind of dessert are you looking for? I made a trifle with pumpkin angel cake and SF FF white chocolate pudding and Cool Whip free. It was really good.

If you want something different let us know, I'll check my files once I know what you are looking for.
that sounds great. What do how do you make the pumpkin angel cake?

She is absolutely right, I really need to get back to journaling and counting those points. I tried yesterday and made it all the way to dinner......and then I blew it. I haven't even thought of journaling today and the day is over. I need a push to get with it, I just don't know why I am having such a hard time these days!
 Hi Deb. Sorry to hear you've been struggling. It is a life time thing though, isn't it. I think flex is definitely better when you are having a hard time, because it's more set in stone how much you can have, and you can have anything you want to get through the hard times. Hang in there. You've done so well to maintain, you can get back on track. I think to journal eveything, no matter how many points above your weekly allowance points you go, is key to getting back on track and staying there. Once I stop journalling, I go way overboard. Good luck.

hey everyone, I haven't had time yet to go back and read the last week or so (I will!), but congrats to all the losers and  to those who are struggling.

Plan wise for me it wasn't such a good week and I didn't get the exercise I'm used too... but I did get to cuddle with a baby. And my wonderful sister sent me back with some clothes to wear while I'm in transition so I don't have to buy new ones. She's wonderful :goodvibes

I weighed in yesterday and was down 0.6, which would be more disappointing, except I hit my 25 lbs lost mark :cool1: So I still got to celebrate, and I'm more determined for a good week to keep those lbs slipping off. :thumbsup2

Happy Sunday everyone!
Rachel
Congrats on reaching 25 pounds gone!!! That is awesome. It must have been wonderful to snuggle with that little baby all week too, :cloud9: and I'm sure your sister loved having a little rest while you were there. Babies are so wonderful.

I'm finding this time of year to be getting hectic and busy already, and I wish I had more free time to come here and respond more often. Congratulations to all who are losing, you are inspirational. And hugs to those struggling, have patience and hang in there. It will get better.

Have a great, losing day.

:welcome: Kim. So glad to see you found your way to this thread. Many of us are repeat WW's so you are in good company. Good luck on your first weigh in and welcome back to WW.

C&Cmom, I too want to welcome you.

I've been busy as anything at work so I haven't had much time to post each night but I do enjoy reading. Good luck to all to all those losing and hugs to those with those gains. Uggg....

I'm down another 2.8 lbs this week, so the goal line is starting to get in sight.
Then will come the harder part, staying at goal. I am to do it the way I'm doing the loss, taking it one day on program at a time.

Sounds like a lot of good plans out there! This has to be my hardest holiday to make it through, I love turkey and the fixins and it is a shame that we only get it once or twice a year!! Maybe if I had turkey dinners more often the food wouldn't be such a magnet.

Nancyg56, it is frustrating when we stay on plan and the scale doesn't reflect our efforts. Don't let this derail you, stay on plan this week and you should be rewarded at your next WI. I know the stats of the holiday foods, when you hear them you just want to run! I am not cooking, so I have little control over the menu, but I am going to try my best to contribute a little bit of healthy eating to my inlaws meal (their idea of vegetables is frozen with butter)!

Great plan, tink1963. It is wonderful that you are not taking this as an opportunity to eat twice, Kudos!

cepmom, here is a stuffing recipe I found in the Hungry Girl cookbook.....i haven't tried it yet, so you may want to do a trial run. According to their information it has 1 PT for a 1 cup serving.

save-the-day stuffing

6 slices lite white bread
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped mushroom
1 cup fat-free broth, at room temperature
1/4 cup fat-free egg substitute
1 T. light whipped butter
2 tsp. minced garlic
Salt, pepper, rosemary and thyme to taste

For best results, leave bread uncovered for a night or two, until slightly stale. Otherwise begin by lightly toasting bread.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cut bread into 1/2" cubes. Spray medium baking dish with nonstick spray and place bread cubes evenly along the bottom of the dish. In a medium pot, combine broth, celery and onions. Cook for 8 min. over medium heat. Remove pot from heat and add mushrooms and garlic. Season mixture to taste with spices. Let cool for several minutes.

Add egg substitute and butter to broth mix and stir. Pour mixture into baking pan, evenly covering bread cubes. Mix gently with a fork. Bread cubes should be moist, but not saturated. If necessary, add 1-2 T. of water and then mix again.

Cover with foil and cook in oven for 20 min. Remove foil and fluff and rearrange stuffing. Return dish to oven, uncovered and cook for an additional 15 minutes.

Makes 5 servings.

If you end up giving it a try you will have to let us know how it comes out.

Hi Kathy! Still haven't gotten into journaling, not following Flex, loosely following Core.....just can't get motivated. I have my monthly weigh in tomorrow morning....maybe that will get me motivated! Hopefully I am still in the free zone. Sounds like you have a plan too, good luck to all of us trying to stick with it.

I am not sure how much time I will be around the next few days since we are getting ready to go away for the holiday, so I will say it a little early....

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

Congrats on the loss this week, Mary Anne! You are a shining example to all WW's. Before you know it we will be celebrating your reaching goal!! Keep up the great work.

I have found that there is always room for one more on this fabulous thread! Welcome!

Wow! You are on a roll! I love that the light in the tunnel is getting brighter for you!

Here is the pumpkin Angel cake recipe along with a few more. Make sure that you bake these cakes long enough, I did not, the cake fell out of the pan and my trifle was born ;)

I used three packages of SF FF white chocolate pudding and Cool Whip free. Break up the cake and layer it in a pretty bowl with high sides or a trifle bowl. Layer pudding and cool whip between the layers of cake. Yumm!

Good morning everyone. I've been out of commission for a few days with a terrible headache accompanied with a stiff neck. :headache: I had it for four days and just yesterday did I feel like myself again. I hope everyone is having a good week and gearing up for Thanksgiving. I missed my regular Wednesday meeting but did go on Thursday morning and I'm down 1 pound this week. I so enjoyed the meeting and what an eye opener it was on just how much Thanksgiving food really costs point wise. I have a plan today to sit down and figure out what a 1/2 cup of everything I plan to eat is. E tools and I will become very chummy before today is over.

Always room for more! Strength in numbers!

Bad, bad, bad, bad weigh-in! I am up 2 pounds! I power walked everyday except Sunday- no less than 4 miles- some days it was actual walking- other days it was my indoor walk-away-the-pounds- which I prefer. I was very hungry this week but really watched my intake. Everyone says- of that is muscle- that is why you are gaining- but I don't care - I want to see a loss!!! Discouraged but not giving up. The weather is turning so it will be walk-away-the-pounds today.

Hey there! Is there room for one more here?

Hey, the more the merrier. I'm a recent joiner to this group and I'm loving the support and welcome for everyone. So CandCMommy, welcome to you.

Sorry you were not feeling well, but glad to hear you are better. Nice job on the loss.

I have my WI today. I again focused on water intake this past week and feel like I did well.

I had my monthly weigh in this morning, the good news is I am still under goal (barely though); the bad news is I gained 1.8 pounds this month. It is what it is, I can't beat myself up over it, just need to get back to basics. My leader told me that there is a new program coming out at the beginning of the year, new material to be distributed in December, has anyone caught anything about the new program yet, I am definitely curious, maybe something new will be just what I need.

My leader hasn't let on at all about anything new. Maybe I'll drop a few hints next week and see is she mentions anything.

I have a DIS board friend who is a WW leader and I couldn't get him to open up. Only said that the new materials are cool. And he is very excited about it.

I too am excited about the new program. I think it might be motivating.

There was a lot of buzz on the WW boards but each time the topic was mentioned the thread got taken down. Our leader asked us not to say anything until she releases the details. I think it is called Momentum and will be rolled out in December.

Just back from my WI and I'm down .6 lbs. Not quite what I was hoping for but I'll take it. This week I'm going to continue to focus on my water intake and portion size. I did track with etools this week, and I printed out the entire week and went through it to see which area I need to focus on next and I think it is going to be portion control. I also think that I didn't have a bigger loss is cause I did not get my walking in. I usually walk on my lunch hour.

I couldn't get any more information either, the only thing I know is that the changes are slight, but they are good changes. I guess we have to wait until December to see.

Any loss is better than a gain.....sorry it isn't what you were expecting this week, but celebrate none-the-less.

Weighed in today. Down 1.4 pounds for a total of 10.9. Got my "I Lost 10 Pounds" ribbon today, so I'm happy. :goodvibes

:cheer2::cheer2: Excellent!

I WI last night and was down .6. I wanted more but then thought about Friday and Saturday nights, I was out to dinner both evenings so there you go :confused3

I am going to start cooking tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I plan on making more veggies and veggie dishes than I usually do so that I won't fill up on all of the other yummy foods. Let's see how much I can lighten up what is normally a butter, cream and sugar of all kind fest!

I did my weekly weigh in today instead of my usual Thursday, I'm down 1 lb. The leader did talk a little about the new program, really didn't give away many secrets only that it's the first major change in the last 4 years and that it's taken the best of the past few programs, listened to the feed back and incorporated everything. She also said there will be a lot more really cool new handouts. They will start to roll it out the week of 12/8,

Have a great Thanksgiving all.
