WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

I think you are right on the two points for most of them but the Italian Veggie one (which is the one I eat all the time) is 1 point for the whole can.

Oh, very good to know! Thank you.

Now, if I can just figure out why my low fat 3 ounces of turkey is listed in the WW book (I have a 1-2-3 Success Winning Points book from about 2000) as 4 points, I can move on for the day!

Dawn

I think you are right on the two points for most of them but the Italian Veggie one (which is the one I eat all the time) is 1 point for the whole can.

The points in the book are an average of 3 different brands. That is what I read somewhere. That is why if you have the label from the product and use the point calculator sometimes it will come our a point or so less.

Who is doing WW at home? Or online?

I currently am doing it on my own as we have had a number of places to go this past month.

I have the points calculator and I have an older (exchanges) calculator that I just got a new battery for.

Can I do this without joining? Or do I need to join? Thoughts?

My dilema is that I have the kids every day, so going to meetings is going to be tricky and 10 miles away (ie: $7 per r/t in gas!)

Dawn

Dawn I am now doing WW at home. I joined in February and went to the meeting until the beginning of June. With my kids home from school and my daughter's cheer practice I missed two meetings in a row. I saw what her schedule looked like for the summer and decided that I would try it at home. I'm doing OK by myself. I made a mini goal and told myself that if at the end of summer I hadn't lost or God forbid gained I would rejoin. This thread is growing everyday. We have people on points, some on core, attending meetings, doing just online and like me that used to attend meeting and now trying to swing it on our own.

Is that something from the fresh meat case or prepackaged hamburgers. I need to give that a try. The dessert sounds yummy too.

They are Laura's 94% hamburgers. In my store, they come fresh and frozen. They are good and only 4 pts for a burger compared to Bubba Burgers which would take a whole days worth of points plus extra! Sometimes I'll even buy the really lean beef and make my own. Hope this helps!:)

 Hello group! I have missed you all this past week. I hope everyone had a good week and survived the mass of food on the 4th of July. Time will not allow me to read all the posts I missed while on my trip, but I just wanted to say :welcome: to all the new folks, congrats to all of our losers :cool1: and great big  to anyone who is struggling.

Although I did bring good choices with me on vacation I was not as active as I usually am and I did indulge a bit more than usual. I weighed in today and I am up 2 pounds......not terribly bad, but not too great. It is a good thing yesterday was a holiday and WW was closed because I wouldn't have wanted to hope on the scale. I have a week to lose the 2 pounds and I need to get my butt back to the gym!!!

I hope everyone is well and I hope you all have a great weekend.

Onward and downward!!

Hi everyone! I was directed to this thread a couple of weeks ago in another thread here on the W.I.S.H. board. I've read through some of the posts and decided to introduce myself.

I am in my fourth week of WW meetings. Me and WW...we have a history. :rotfl: I first joined back in 2005...prepaid my 11 weeks and lost 30 lbs!!! Quite a feat, if I do say so myself. Then I moved an hour out of town, started a new relationship/new job and I quit smoking. The local WW meetings went on while I was working, so it just wasn't possible for me (the city that I came from had a WW center, so there were several days/times available). I fell off track, and gained back the 30 (with some change to the tune of 15 lbs. extra).

Fast forward to January 2007. I joined WW again. Moved again, found a meeting nearby that I would be able to go to. Joined up with a girl from work. We went twice. 2 times. The would-be third one we had a snowstorm, then she went out of town for the next week, etc. etc. Here is where I went wrong, I think. I didn't prepay for those 11 weeks.

And now, this summer. Beginning of May I decided I'd do it on my own. I got my hands on the new points calculator, as well as the newest editions of the Dining Out Guide and the Complete Food Companion (these are my dieting bibles). I lost 2 lbs. in a month. I realized that I really need that meeting, and I really need to feel accountable. Weighing in with an actual person makes it easier for me to succeed. So, off I went to my tried and true method. Meetings, prepay, 1 "cheat" meal. I went back to what made me successful before. I have about 60 lbs. to lose, but I know I can do it!

I am not a cook and I do it not very often. I realize that this is a lifestyle change, for the better. But I need to be realistic about it. I can't always prepare my lunches, nor can I cook dinner every night. I just don't like to. I eat mainly prepared foods and take out. I have either a Smart Ones/Lean Cuisine/Healthy Choice for lunch every day at work. I also keep a list in my purse of some of my favorite lesser points choices for every fast food/take out/sandwich shop in my area. Condiments included! :thumbsup2 I don't like working out, but we have a pool so this summer it's easy. I get in every day and swim a few laps, tread water for blocks of time, etc. It's not strenuous, but I'm moving and I'm enjoying it (realistic for me).

So, what are my results after three weeks? I'm happy to say that I'm down 8.8 lbs! :woohoo: Yesterday was tough, but remember how I said that I have 1 cheat meal a week? Well, I saved it for yesterday. I'm hoping to make it over the 10 lb. mark this Wednesday at weigh-in. W.I.S.H. me luck!!! :goodvibes

:welcome: DaisyLynn! The old saying, "the third time is the charm" seems very appropriate here. I have been the third-timer too and for many of the reasons you have stated I have done well (ie: meetings, exercise and accountability). Congratulations on your 8.8 pound loss, I know you must be doing the  dance! You've come to a great thread to help you on your journey, hope to see you here often. :)

Daisylynn - :Welcome: :cheer2:

I hope everyone is injoying their holdiay weekend and finding ways to stay on program. My problem has not been staying on program it's getting the push to do the housework I should be doing. I'm wearing my "counter" to see how many points I can earn cleaning :goodvibes

Happy cleaning, Mary Anne! Wanna earn extra points, I have a house that could use cleaning too....lol. Seriously though, I need to get to it myself today, DS has a friend over and when he goes I will head off to the gym and send DS to the gym pool....he has fun, I get a work out.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi,

Thought I would join in you guys. You have a nice supportive feel. I know I need a little support in this because it feels like a lonely journey. I lost on over 50lbs WW's many years ago. I found the group support invaluable.
I have now gained it back (plus some)...and am feeling a little defeated.
Well I tried to do it on my own but I can't. Joining meetings is not an option because I now live in an area that doesn't have meetings. I have signed up online and logged everything today. Online hasn't worked before but I feel it is worth a try.

My Challenges: Living alone and single I tend not to plan well. I live in a silly part of Canada where sleeping patterns are seasonal. There are times of the year fresh fruit and veggies are a challenge to find. I tend to find motivation to excersise difficult - despite enjoying it when doing it.

Welcome Julie! It's hard to do the program on your own (or I found it that way). I have a friend that has been very successful doing it online. From what she has said to me, the forums there have been very helpful to her and she's made some great friendships. You've had great success in the past on WW...this is the time we're going to succeed to lifetime! :cheer2:

Hope nobody minds if I jump back in here. I've been off track for several weeks and even though I was back on track somewhat tracking points I've officially rejoined WW, the online plan. Since I'm paying for it I will have to use it right? ;)

I was shocked to see that I was back up to 287. Still down 6 lbs since Jan almost back to my all time high while pregnant YEARS ago with my soon to be 5 year old. :sad2:

I'll try to keep up and stick around to get to know everyone. Is there a system that works well for keeping up. A trick to tell where the new posts start. I always struggle to find where I left off and don't want to take all the time to find and I hate to just post about me and appear unfriendly. :guilty:

I love Laura's ground beef. At my local Super Target they have 8% fat and 4% fat. I have also seen the Laura's burgers at Ealmart. Laura's is the only ground beef I will eat anymore. I love it because it is organic and it just plain tastes good.

Another way I like to make burgers is to get some lean ground turkey and pick up a Lipton Beefy Onion soup mix. It gives the ground turkey a TON of flavor. I'm not sure on the points side of it, but I'm sure they wouldn't be very many points per burger. I do usually use the 2 packets of soup mix but 1 would be fine.

Down .8 this week. It would have been more if it weren't 4th of July this past.weekend :headache: !!!

Maybe next week will be better. Hey, at least I didn't gain I guess...:confused3

I didn't have such a great on program weekend. :guilty: Today's a new day right? Back on track for me! I hope you all had a great weekend and good luck staying on program this week.

Wow, I'll have to try that. I love turkey, but the burgers are always dry. Next time I go grocery shopping, I'll have to pick up some ground turkey and soup mix! :thanks:

A loss is a loss!!! Great job!!:goodvibes

I didn't have such a great on program weekend. :guilty: Today's a new day right? Back on track for me! I hope you all had a great weekend and good luck staying on program this week.
Me too!! I didn't write down anything the past two days, but I did work out. Saturday, I did Walk Away the Pounds and the Biggest Losser workout. I didn't know I had mussels in areas that hurt! Yesterday, I did my 45 min out over the hills of my neighborhood. This morning, I did the 45 min AND the Biggest Losser!:scared1: I figured that I didn't write, and now I got to work a little harder to make up for it. But, I started writing this morning with breakfast.

:welcome: Glad to have you back! I was 288 whe I started this journey, so I can understand your struggle. Please, stick around! Support is the best way to loose the weight.:goodvibes When will your daughter be 5? My youngest DS will be 5 in 10 days and my oldest DS will be 6 in 18 days.

Hi everyone. Welcome back from the holiday weekend and :welcome: to all the new posters.

It was a disappointing first week for me. I stayed on plan, despite the holiday, my birthday and a graduation party, but I didn't lose anything at weigh-in this morning. I do feel better however. I have been walking the dog twice a day every day. I also have been doing lots of house cleaning! :laundy: Mary Anne, is your counter a pedometer or is it something you got from weight watchers that measures your activity in points?

Northern Julie, I agree with DaisyLynn, use the forums on WW online. They are great for advice and support. DaisyLynn, I also keep an index card in my purse of points. It is a great quick reference when the kids beg me to stop at a fast food place.

I'll have to try Laura's ground beef. We do lots of BBQing in the summer, it'll be nice to have a points friendly alternative.

I love this thread! So many helpful hints and great support.

:welcome: Northern Julie, so glad to have another poster on board. You are right, this is a supportive group and it is a great place to be before, during and after your journey. I can relate to the isolation, I lived in Italy for many years with my military husband and I did WW while there. Although I didn't have the loss of fresh fruits and vegetables I did have the loss of having a meeting option and I lived in a very small american community, that is why WISH was key for me. Since you said you aren't a planner maybe taking some time once a week to plan the whole week's worth of food would help you stay on track. It would give you only one day to plan and the rest of the week to follow that plan. Good luck on your journey!

Welcome back Zoesmama03. There really isn't a system for checking in, it is all about what works for you and your schedule. I always (mostly) go back to where I last posted and move forward from there, if I am way too busy I read what I can and go from there.

feistygalkmc, I love using the Lipton's onion soup mix too, another thing I just found last week was Mrs. Dash hamburger seasoning, you add 2 T (a little much for me) to a pound of ground beef, makes for some tasty burgers.

toledo13, :cheer2: Celebrate any and all losses!!

 Grumpy's Wife, I had that week last week, but it is back to it, today definitely is a new day.

pakhowe, hang in there, it is tough when you do not see results on the scale when we have been good, just keep OP and next week you should be rewarded. Our bodies fluctuate during the day/week/month, but rest assured if you are sticking to program a loss will show up eventually.
