WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Be very careful with any gold parties, hotel gold buyers, and even jewelry stores. You are basically just adding a middleman and reducing profits. These same people are just buying your gold and selling it for huge profits. That is why they give out gift baskets. Companies like US Gold Buyers deal with such quantities that they can give "fair value" payouts and still make nice profits. Don't be fooled by slick marketing.

I sent my jewelry off today. I did not have it weighed ahead of time. I just have not had the time. I live in a small town and there just aren't many "local" choices. So I said WTH and sent it. I guess I'll know tomorrow? I have absolutely no idea what to expect.

I did not read the whole thread, but I wanted to share some really interesting info about Cash4Gold that I read on another site. I am not sure if anyone is using Cash4Gold, but they sound like scammers. Take a look at these interesting links:

http://www.cockeyed.com/citizen/goldkit/cheat.shtml

and the followup

http://www.cockeyed.com/citizen/goldkit/reputation.shtml

I love this site because besides the interesting and funny science stuff they do, the webmaster is really into exposing scams like this, Kirby Vaccum sales, and Crazyfox.com.

Be sure to take a look if you are considering using Cash4Gold!

Thanks for the info!! I just got my check from US Gold Buyers. They gave me a really good price.
I would definately do business with them again!

I am getting ready to send my package to usgoldbuyers and am filling out the "method of payment" form. I don't know which box to check on what method of payment I want. I want whichever gives me the most money back (lowest fees). One of the choices in company check. Does that mean a company check from them or that I need to be a company?

It means you will get a company check from them. This is the option I chose when I sent in my gold last year.

I chose company check. I sent my package in on Thursday and received a phone call on 2:12 pm on Friday. I had my check the following Wednesday. I deposited it that day before 2:00pm and it was credited to my account the next day. This was all done last week! They are good.

Thank you tripletots and keep moving forward! I can't wait. It is like found money! Company check it is!

Has anyone sent in gold coins? I received a quote on a gold coin and some jewlery today but I think it was pretty low.

US Gold Buyers: 1
Local Jeweler: 0

I paid US Gold Buyers a visit today at their NYC offices. They paid me $3000 for my gold. My local jeweler only offered me $1600. Turns out I had a few 18K pieces which upped the total significantly. Local jeweler just lumped everything together and paid me the 14K rate.

Now my May trip will be paid for in full...in advance...save for meals. Woo hoo!

If this is being ripped off, I should do it more often! :rotfl:

I sent my gold off on Friday and they received it today, now just waiting to hear what the offer is. I had according to the postage scale at least 1 oz. of mixed 14k and 10k, we will see. Sent it to US goldbuyers, they had the best price and from everything on this thread, were the ones to give the best price.

Sent mine in on Friday as well and it was signed for this afternoon. I am anxiously awaiting my quote :)

Did any of your jewelry have stones in it, and if so did they remove them for you? I am thinking of taking some things to US Gold Buyers at their office, but some of it has stones in it (nothing very large/valuable, I think most of the stones are fake). If US Gold Buyers won't remove the stones, I need to figure out how to do that before I take my gold to them.

Thanks to advice on this board, I contacted USGB today and I'm sending out some stuff tomorrow. It's not a huge amount, but hopefully I'll get a couple of hundred for it! I asked if they buy the stones as well -- none of these rings has anything big, and a couple of them have fake stones, but they said they'd pay for the real ones (two sapphires, a topaz, some tiny diamonds). Maybe that will help my total! I'll let you know--

Sure...they'll take out whatever you want, no problem. I asked for a couple of the larger gemstones back - a sapphire and a garnet - and the cameo portion of a pin that was set in gold. But I didn't even bother with some of the smaller diamonds in a couple of my rings...they just weighed them with the gold.

They were very pleasant to deal with, and I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

I hope you do well with your treasures!

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone here. I was skeptical of doing this, until I read this thread, so I decided to go through USGB. I literally sent a bunch of, what I considered, junk in. My old high school class ring, my husbands old class ring, an old herringbone necklace, 2 rope necklaces, 2 rope bracellets, 2 charms, a few odd earrings, one nugget ring (remember those?), and old pinkie ring (had 3 diamonds in it that were so small you couldn't see them), and a very thin wedding band. I got my offer today for $533.90. I told my husband that I would take anything over $75, so I was very surprised with this ammount, now I wish I had sent in more.

Thanks again!

Great -- nothing from stopping you from sending in more - go for it!

That's great! I was concerned too until I read all this here. Then, was I ever surprised when I had hundreds of dollars of "junk" in my nightstand!!

Thanks! I am definitely going to give them a call, hopefully I can go in on my lunch break one day soon!
