WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Just ordered my packet to send my gold in today. Can't wait to get it. I have to go through old stuff and find my unwanted gold. Could really use the extra money to pay for a small vacation to the shore.

I have been trying to keep up with this tread but got a little behind... how have the gold prices been lately, last time I checked they had taken a downward turn.... how 'bout now?

It was $930 yesterday. Looks like it's been pretty steady the last week and has stayed between $920 and $940.

I'm sending my gold in on Monday. The prices have steadied a bit, and I don't think we're going to see $1,000 again. The Simulus Plan payments are going to start going out May 02 (for those with direct deposit), feds are doing more lately about the economy, so I'm not going to wait and take the chance that gold will go down.

So, should I try to remove the gemstones from the rings, etc. before I send them off to Goldfellow?

USGB is still not accepting new customers, correct?

Have to share my joy with people who will understand--yesterday at a garage sale I got a 14K tennis racket charm for $1.50  I'm going to send my gold in this week, I'm glad I didn't get around to it last week.

On the form next to my name and address info, I just wrote that I was a DIS board member and gave my user name. The day I shipped my package, I also sent an e-mail that I sent my shipment and reminded them of my being a DIS board member. I received a kind response that they will apply the DIS upgrade to my account.

The other reason I went through Goldfellow is I had read on this thread that they will return any items that are not gold. I wasn't sure if one of my bracelets was gold or not and liked knowing that they would return it. I highly recommend them. The turnaround time was very fast, and they have excellent customer service.

So, both GoldFellow AND USGB will give the 10%??

so do you think If I sent in my gold to USGB my own expense that they will send it back? VERY INTERESTED!! thanks

So is there anyone who accepts the stones in the rings?

According to the guy that called me from USGB they do appraise your stones (assuming they are real) and your offer includes the price for the stones as well.
IMO I wouldn't give them any really good large stones. You should get them appraised first if they are nice.

Great thanks there mainly small stones like some small emeralds and things like that although there not big enough to be worth my troubles but there still stones.

I just got my Fed Ex bag from GoldFellow yesterday... I plan on sending my gold in this week. I cannot wait after everything I've read here.

Post #874 is the pic of what I sent to them. I had 2 small sapphires, 3 peridots and microscopic diamonds. I got a few bucks and it was worth it not to try to remove them! :thumbsup2

I posted a few days ago and was very happy with my transaction with Gold Fellow.

Maybe I should be asking them this... but what do you think about a set of 23K Gold electroplate Silverware? :confused3 The box (at least 35 years old) says:

23 K gold Electroplate
Montrose
Guaranteed dishwasher safe
Will not tarnish

It is a set of silverware- although it appears to be gold. On the back of each utensil it says "Stainless Steel Japan"

I guess is what it comes down to- is what is 23K Gold electroplate?

If I am not mistaken, at least where jewelry is concerned, the gold buyers will not take electroplate, gold filled, or gold plated items..they consider it not real gold.
I had one tiny pendant that was marked 10k gold fill..I sent it anyway, and USGB did not count it in the weight of my items.

COOL! I was thinking about looking at yard sales, too! I bet there are people who are "uniformed" enough to sell gold jewelry cheap!

Totally my plan this spring too! I already hit the Salvation Army jewelry table and didn't find anything but I bet at some yard sales you will come across some old stuff that people just want to get rid of.

Allyson :)

Well...We mailed our package to USGB on Friday @ 6pm (from MI) and it was delivered today at just after 10am. We were a bit nervous since according to the tracking info, the pkg took a couple of detours before arriving in NY (Memphis, Newark, back to Indianapolis...well traveled pkg, LOL!). Anyway, now we play "wait and see"...hoping that gold prices go up a bit. They've been slipping today...:sad2:
