WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Probably no reason for me to send mine in then....it's all pretty plain jewelry. Two bangle bracelets, 3 nice rings and 1 flimsy one and then a really thin bracelet. I don't own a lot of gold, I sold it all years ago as I never wore any of it (except my earrings and my wedding set).

Just an fyi...

I got my payout today from USGB. :cool1:

So it took a total of 4 days including the day they called me (Tues). I live in the Boston are.

HI,

I also just recieved my check from USGB today! They called me last Friday, and I got the check this friday. I am in Arkansas though.

Thanks again to everyone for their help!

Don't forget when you are trying to figure out what your loot is worth, there is also the purity factor to consider.

I weighed mine and had just about 2 oz of gold with one long necklace being 18k and the rest being 14k. Thought I'd get at least $800 but was sorely disappointed when I was offered $500. :(

So, it is not just the weight of the gold but the purity level.

To add to this my situation was similar. I had 3.7 ounces, and based on that days prices I thought I would get apprx. $1700.
My offer was $1356, quite a difference. They told me the total purity of what I sent was 52%..so I guess that does have a factor.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I received my check from Goldfellow today - it took 5 business days for those of you still waiting for your check.

Good luck to those of you waiting to hear your offers!

Right--
14K gold is about 58% gold, so that's almost half off to start with. I think maybe people get confused about that, thinking that the weight of their jewelry is the same as a solid gold bar.

Hello all,
I've been following this thread almost from the beginning and I just sent my package to USGB today, I kept putting it off as I do with other things!
Thanks to all for starting this thread and posting all the great information!
:flower3:

US Goldbuyers is in the diamond district 47th street between 5th & 6th I believe. No apptmnt necessary. He said it was a breeze, walk in and they take you into a small room, man sits behind a glass he goes through what you have and gives you a price. If you accept it, you give him ID to copy, sign a form and walk out with the cash. I am thrilled!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, GUESS WHERE I AM HEADING NEXT WEEK!! :rotfl:

Hopefully I'll get mine tomoorow, then. I got my call on Tuesday as well, but it was at about 6:30pm.

I'm going to look at IPODS tomorrow. I don't want to buy until I see sundays paper and see if anyone is running a special. My parents live by a mall that has an apple store in it..and I'm at there house today/tomorrow...I'll be taking a ride and my mom will watch my kids. I'm going to try them out and figure out what one I want.

For the old silverware, did goldfellow pay the postage on it? It is heavy!!!

Thanks!

They did. I put it in a fedex box and sent it out with the lable i printed on line. I was in contact with a guy there to determine how much insurance I needed, and he was very helpful. Between what they insure and what fedex insures, i was well covered. But yes, they do pay for the shipping, no matter what you send.

how does the insurance work? I am super very nervous about sticking this in the mail ( even with FedEx) and my stupid darn it black ink cartridge died last night so I can't print out my stupid darn it label. :( So now I have to leave the house!!!

Just had to post that I received the settlement today, accepted, and the wire transfer (directly into my bank account) was complete within a few short hours!!!

The Dis budget board rocks!!!! :dance3:  :cool1: :goodvibes

Sent my stuff to GoodFellows this afternoon. So hopefully by next week my disney fund will have a little padding.

Fedex automatically insures $100, and Goldfellow insures for $500. So youre covered for $600. My mom had an 8 place settings - 5 pieces in each setting, for a total of 40 pieces. Now remember, the knife blades are not sterling silver, they are stainless steel, so that wont be counted in the figure. Mom got $378 I think for the whole set. I wouldnt worry about sending it via fedex. Either way, youre covered with the insurance. Take a picture of it before you send it. Make a copy of your packing slip & fedex label. You could send them an email and let them know youre sending it, if that helps.

Okay I just requested my info packet from USGB. I am SO excited! I'm sending in a name plate bracelet on an XO chain and a name plate necklace on an XO chain. I don't expect a lot, just some extra $$ for the Mouse!

Sent mine today. I'll keep everyone posted. I never knew how easy Fedex was to deal with. I took pics. I'll post them later
