WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Has anyone sold their old gold lately. I've been thinking about doing this, just wondered if anyone has recently. TIA :)

Me too...... Where the best place to sell gold these days? I have a very thick and heavy 24 carat gold braclet. Would like to get the most money possible.

Just be prepared to be embarrassed if they tell you your beloved gold necklace that you've had for at least 20 years is worth about 10 cents! That is what happened to me!

Im so pissed now because when I was in my twenties, I had this GORGEOUS silver necklace from Tiffany's. I bet it was worth a fortune and Im sure I lost it. I havent seen it in years. I have a knack for losing jewelry if I wore it enough times.

On the recommendation on this thread, my daughter sent some small miscellaneous gold earrings, a couple of gold necklace chains and a bracelet, back in Dec. She was thinking she would have been thrilled with $300. US Gold buyers sent her a check for over $800. She was more than thrilled.

I need to get my stuff together and get it sent in. I've been procrastinating long enough.

Just went thru everything and dont have much anymore:guilty: I remember about 5 years ago, I was cleaning out my old jewelry boxes and literally threw a bunch of old gold jewelry from the 80s that I would never wear again in the garbage. I cant believe I did that. ugh! I did find a few items that I can part with but some necklaces are so pretty and in great shape that Im actually gonna start wearing them again.

What about real silver flatware? Would I get much for that?

You get very little for silver

Has anyone sold gold-gilded decorative plates? My grandma left me some but they're not functional and I don't really like them.

Not sure if its real gold or not... they must have been expenseive but how do you know if its real? Is it usually when on a plate? Similar items are on ebay priced fairly high, but how to know?

Anyone know anything about this?

Also, do the gold dealers take anything like this?

TIA.

Any recent gold sales? What price did you get per ounce? Can someone post the formula we should use to see how good deal is? Iknow it was posted before. Gold is higher lately good time to cash it in. Tia!

I contacted USGB, and it is preferred by the company that if one has less than 1 troy ounce, to please not use Fed Ex. Because the free shipping is really only for gold that weighs in at a minimum of one troy ounce. I had asked a long time ago, via an email to the company, what that is comparable to, and was told the weight is approximately equal to the weight of 6 US Quarters. My Gold feels like less than 3 quarters, at best. So I will most likely not make much off of it, if anything at all. For sometimes gold is not pure (Mixed) or is an overlay, or just plain old imitation.

Oh my goodness! I am so glad that I did send my gold to USGB!

I mailed it certified this past Wednesday, USGB received it after 2 p.m. PST, today. I received a call shortly thereafter with an offer. I almost fainted. Because the most that a local jeweler had offered was $200.00 one week, then the next $100-150.00 I am glad that I waited to see how I might fare with USGB. Anyway, I had shipped one gold chain (Lightweight) One necklace, one pair of small dangle earrings, one lightweight bracelet, and one small brooch. Well I was not certain what it might be worth. Especially after going by the quotes given by the local jeweler. I was offered almost $459.00. That might not sound like all that much to some, however for what my particular job situation is/is not, it is a wonderful amount. I only wish I had more gold. They also buy silver, and platinum.

I just wanted to add, that USGB's pays out at 98.2 percent for the market value of Gold. Making it the highest payer in Gold, that I am aware of.

Does anyone know if they take Gold *overlay* - or Gold *filled* jewelry? I would think its a long process to separate....

(Sorry if this has already been asked and answered!)

Gold filled and gold overlay are basically "junk jewelry". Wile they certainly look nice, the amount of gold that they contain is very minimal.
USGB does not buy gold filled or overlay that I know of, but you can always call and ask.

Does anyone know if any of these places take "dental" gold?
my mil gave us some dental gold to sell for her...we took it to this local jewelry store and they bought it. I can't see why anyone wouldn't take it.

Yes, USGB does accept dental gold.

I just want to correct something from my earlier post. USGB's pays out anywhere from @90% to 98.2 %. It depends upon the gram weight, and I believe the purity of the gold as well. I had one piece that held a higher, purer gold content, which is one of the reasons why my total payout yielded a higher figure. My final payout was $459.26. Oh how I wish I owned more gold! I love it so.... :)
