WOW - I just sold my old gold........

After gold hit $1500+ I finally bit the bullet and sold some gold wedding jewelry gifts not to my liking for $1800.

Are you satisfied with the payout? For I am not sure if it is that you did not want to sell the gold, or if you were not happy with the price offered. TIA

would you mind explaining that penny weight thing?
tia:flower3:

Google it. There are 20 penny weights to a troy ounce. If you look on the USGB website, they have the daily $ payout amounts listed for both troy ounces and penny weights.

You can find online conversion calculators to help you figure it al out. HTH.

I was fine with the payouts I guess. I was thinking it would be closer to $2K but I was ok that it was a bit less.

I got a lot of gold for my wedding about 15 years ago. God prices were in the $300 range. Some I never wore because I thought they were ugly. Lol. However, there was still a lot of craftsmanship involved.

I chose the 2 ugliest necklaces I had. :rolleyes1

I was discussing with the rep about their process. They melt EVERYTHING indiscriminately down regardless of how nice the jewelry is. Other places such as a jewelry store may hold onto a piece to see if they can re-sell at a higher price.

I think the payout may be less through this type of jewelry store because of the smaller volume processed and the costs of s/h in trying to re-sell the piece as is.

I have some other pieces that are pretty nice (never worn, gift worthy) but are just not to my taste. IF I decide to sell more, I may decide to sell it to a store in Chinatown even it is slightly less than USGB because it would just be a shame to melt down all the craftsmanship.

If the payout is way lower, I may either just sell it to USGB or keep it to re-gift. Haven't decided. It's worth too much too much to gift to non-family and some came from family. Lol.

I used USGB. I just sent in a thin 10k white gold bracelet and 3 silver rings and got $130. They were in my high school box. Since I couldn't remember any special thing about them, decided to get rid of them. I sent it Monday. they called Tuesday with an offer and had a check Friday. You can get paypal faster I think, but it is 2% fee.

That sounds very good. It is a fine example of gold having such a high value right now. Silver does too. The last I checked, silver was coming in at 30 dollars an ounce. It typically had been about 12 dollars or so.

Not that I am aware of. But you can call USGB and ask, maybe they are again.
1-212-764-4571. They are in New York.

you will get sooo much less because they have OVERHEAD...I use a REPUTABLE man in FL who pays a HUGE amount out becuase he doesnt have any overhead....He has references if you want his email /info...

GO TO HIM before you ever go to a STORE!

heres the info....go and GET A QUOTE from a STORE first and I will assure you, Steven will give you a Better Rate:

Here are the current rates– which, of course, are dependent on the gold market– the rates I’ve quoted here are VERY conservative as I would rather underpromise and have Steven overdeliver– the actual rates that Steven is paying (as of today, 6/1/11) are a bit higher than those published here.

10K: $500/oz

14K: $700/oz

18K: $900/oz

Again, he has NO OVERHEAD costs so pays out $$$

He will reimburse for your insured shipping — so either include a copy of the receipt or jot down the amount. Include your name, address (if you prefer a check) or PayPal account (if you prefer PayPal) and a way of contacting you– either phone, email or both.

he will take the stones out and mail them back, you dont have too, but he Doesnt Buy Stones

Also, if you’re not happy with the quote for your gold– he will send the items back at his own expense– you are NOT committed to selling your items when you send them in– only once he calls you with an offer and you accept his offer.

if you want his info, PM ME!

I can give you a reference

Sorry. I believe usgoldbuyers.com pays more per ounce. I've used them twice now and have been happy and satisfied with the whole process.

I just used USGB and am very satisfied. The whole process was very easy and payout was good. Got to pay off a couple of bills :yay:

The 2 main places mentioned here pays more than that. I also don't think you are allowed to post that link here.
