WOW - I just sold my old gold........

When they called me they told me about the stones and their allotment. But that was the nice guy (I forgot his name) There is another one there that doesn't seem so nice.

On the website it does say they will pay for stones, but I was on chat with them today and had a jerk. He told me that they only pay for a stone that is a karat or bigger. I sent my stuff in a year ago, and have never received my tuff back that they didn't buy. I sent several release forms and they stillnever sent anything back. So this guy told me to send it again. I really wonder if the yeven still have my stuff. He never answered when I asked, and he avoided alot of my questions. I have heard of people getting great people, and people getting jerks, I have gotten one great person and 2 jerks in my dealing with them

How long does it usually take to get the email from them outlining your instructions? I called several hours ago and still have nothing.

(being impatient because now I want to mail it off!!!)

I would go to the site and request the email. If you are using msn or hotmail, it may not come. Mine never did from my msn account, and after talking to a wonderful gal, I used my yahoo account and had it in seconds.

Sent my little package in today via fed ex, had about 8 rings, 3 necklaces, 2 charms and multi silver items (dont know if real or not) weight was 5.6oz well see what the offer is!

Thanks to everyone here i finally decided to try and dig for gold in my own house!!!

I got my check today for $678.00. It weighed 3.8 ounces on my postal scale. Included 6 rings, 2 bracelets, 2 super thin chains, 14 mixed earrings, 1 diamond heart pendant. I had about 5 or 6 pieces i wasnt sure were gold and they told me that was the bad news...not all was gold ...i was fine with it because i figured if i had to guess it probably wasnt.

Thanks again!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for your posting. Gives me confidence. I have been worried about scams. Would love to get rid of my old gold.

You guys are doing good!! I need to get my butt in motion and get the rest of my stuff there. I regret spending all the money I did on all the jewelry I have, since I haven't worn most of it in 8 years or more!

got my call yesterday. I hate to say I was disappointed, but I kind of was. I had included my class ring (a BIG ladies' one, that was a gold mix with a larrrrggee stone), my former wedding band (with diamond chips), my former engagement ring (with one diamond), another ring (missing the opal but had the small diamond in it), another ring with 3 stones in it (emeralds), a bracelet, some gold tiny earrings, a broken tie tack. Also some other odds and ends that probably weren't gold, and a quite heavy chain that was plated Sterling Silver (925 Italy stamped on it.)

They said the class ring is silver (it has gold mixed in). Also some of the odds and ends aren't gold (I expected that). Total for the silver, gold, and gems $338. I even repeated the mix of gold in the class ring. I even mentioned the gems. Was told it's all totalled in there.

The money still is more important to me right now than those items, but wow I expected more. I think he told me the silver totalled $10. For that heavy class ring and that heavy chain? If that was accurate, I don't recommend sending silver.

I will say that maybe I am disappointed because $$$ would have made me feel better about having to sell off jewelry that DID have some memories value to me. And several of the rings would have been 10k or 14k (for hardness). Either way, I have money today.

Just remember that you had the option (and may still if you call them) to refuse the offer and have them send the jewelry back to you. I did the same with my jewelry and my moms. We weren't happy, had them send it back.

I told myself that it was worth $200 to me to let those things go. I got $330 (well, $320 after paypal fee, oops). Did you send yours to goldfellow instead? Or just keep it?

Got the call this afternoon and the offer was $184.86 I was thinking more around $300 or so b/c 2 of the rings were huge and solid gold. The other pieces I had were small and not all were real gold/silver. I took the offer as this was jewerly that was sitting around!!!!

Sent mine in yesterday and waiting for the call. I have my fingers crossed!

I held on to it for a few months and sent it back again and the price was much higher!! So I sold it then. I guess when I sent it the first time maybe the gold price had dropped:confused3

Or a different person did the math. I guess since it's over the "minimum" I set in my head, I will let it be and keep the $. Plus the fact that my rings were mostly 10k (I tend to prefer 10k in rings, because they are harder and don't ding as easily).

Just called them since I hadn't heard from them, said much of it wasn't pure gold but it ended up being $263.12. I'm happy, it's going towards my December WDW trip!

Gold mix isn't worth anything, because it is most likely gold plated. Meaning only a cover thats worth nothing. Also silver is only about 10 an ounce, and gold is like 1000 per ounce for 24 K. I think 1o K is more like 500 an ounce. Also thre ounce are not the same as a postal ounce. They measure in Troy ounces.

Does anyone know if you can kind of "barter" with these places when they tell you what they will pay you for your gold? Do they give you a low price and maybe will go higher?

I doubt it very much. Probably if you were within a few $'s of what they were offeriing you. But when I told them no and to send it back, they didn't offer any more $

So IOW, a (fake) tennis bracelet that is 18K gold overlay isn't worth sending?

Just want to thank you guys for this thread. I sent my gold to US Gold buyers because of all the great reviews here and now have 318 on the way. :woohoo:

I know it's been awhile since I was here, but my friend's site, sellyourgold dot com just WAY outperformed all the others... and it was on Today and MSNBC as an undercover investigation.

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/39527596/ns/today-money

I'm not a spammer, just been away. I heard from him recently, and saw there was still activity on this thread.

I don't make a blooming cent off this site, I just don't want to see you folks get ripped off.

"TODAY tested 10 different companies. After mailing in our gold, we waited to see what offer came back. Since the gold market fluctuates every day, we based our analysis on the day that the offer was dated.

Related: Gold bugs fly high as value soars

Our best offer was from sellyourgold.com — $393.36. That’s about 90 percent of the value on the gold market. Meanwhile, we got approximately 87 percent of value from goldpawnshop.com.

But from there, the offers began to fall — 81 percent ... 55 ... 54... 52 ... 33. Then they plummeted — 18 percent, or $76.89, from the well-known Cash4Gold company. And 13 percent from brokengold.com, a company that claims to pay “top dollar” and “10 percent more than the competition.” (Brokengold.com declined our request for an interview. Cash4Gold said it is a “great option” for consumers and will return items to unsatisfied customers.)

But the bottom of the barrel — the very lowest — came from hardgoldcash.com. The company claims on its website “we are about giving you the best price for your gold.” Their offer? $38.25. That’s a measly 8 percent of the gold’s real market value.
