WOW - I just sold my old gold........

momof2OH: the guy told me 3 to 5 days. today was 3 days and it didnt come in so i'm thinking i'll get it tomorrow.

czycropper: i put mine in a ziploc bag, then put that in a 8 1/2 x 11 manila envelope, which I folded double and put into a fed ex pac (which is made of the thin woven looking white material). but they say you can use a pac or a box. I didnt have a box or i'd have used it, since they were paying for it and not me.

Wow I just found this thread and I am so motivated to go through my old jewelry now. I have rings that are broken and chains I never wear along with a bunch of charms...Wonder what I can get for it?! Any little bit would be a blessing right about now! :littleangel:

ETA: I accidentally typed "owl" instead of old so i'm just correcting myself to say "OLD jewelry!" LOL

Got my check today! And a pleasant surprise...I misunderstood the guy on the phone and thought I was getting $202.62 when I really got $207.62! Works for me! :)

So I just called USGB and, of course, they are closed for the weekend  I don't get out of work until 7:15 (I'm in CT) and they closed at 6. I left a message and gave them my email address so hopefully they can just go ahead and get started. I've got a nice little collection here... 4 rings, several pairs of earrings, a few chains, and a few charms. Here's hoping...

I'm thinking about sending some stuff in.. I have jewelry that is marked 14k but some has no markings on it at all... is there a way to find out if it is worth sending in or will they just test each piece to see what it is? I'm hoping that the stuff with no markings on it IS gold so I get more $ AND so I won't think bad thoughts about the ex boyfriend who bought it for me!!! :rotfl: Hopefully he bought the real stuff.

I am so excited! They just called me and I was thinking I would get $200 NOPE I'm getting over $500 :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Perfect timing since I've just had to pay for my DDs cheer camp and just found out that uniforms are going to be $150 a piece so $300 for both of them.....I'm a very happy person at the moment!!!!!

Has anyone who has already sold their gold recieved money for a referral?
Not for referring anyone here, but I've received several checks for referring other family members and friends.

The person you refer has to be selling at least 1 oz of gold for you to receive the $25.00 referral check.

I sent in my package... it was SUPER easy to ship out... I sent in 2 bracelets, 2 neclaces, a ring, a class ring, and 3 pairs of earrings.... I just checked the tracking # and it says it will be delivered by 3pm tomorrow. Hoping for a phone call tomorrow afternoon!!! Hoping for a couple hundred dollars, going to put it towards Christmas shopping.:santa:

I think I might be the only person on this thread who was not entirely happy with USGB. I sent in quite a few items not unlike what everyone else is sending in (chains, bracelets, rings, etc.) My DH has a scale that usus pennyweights, so I knew what the weight was when I sent it in. And I knew what the daily price for gold was, so I had a figure in mind that I was expecting.

When the guy called me with the quote, he gave me a story about how they don't just go by the stamp, they have to test the purity of the gold. This information is not listed anywhere on their site at all. All of the items I sent in were indeed 14K, but the weren't all as "pure" as they should be, so the amount I received was less than I was expecting. As in $150 less.

I still accepted the offer because it was more than I was offered at anyplace else and it was a generous offer. I keep telling myself it's more than I had before, which is a good thing. But I still really think it was kind of a BS reason for reducing the amount they gave me.

About how long does it take for them to call you from the time they get the package? :confused3

I just got my call..... $1475.23......... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I am in shock. I truly thought $500 would be the high end of what I got. I am SO excited.... this will buy all my Christmas gifts!!!

Wow! Congrats! That's amazing! I was hoping to get like $300 and I got $211.26

It's more than I had but I have to say I'm a bit bummed but the minimum I was looking for was $200 so that I can put it towards food for out upcoming October trip...I met that goal so I'm happy about that! I'll keep collecting and hopefully it will add up in the next month before we leave!

Has anyone ever sold any gold from the middle east. I have several pieces from Iraq. I am not sure what kind of gold it is. I heard that there gold is really good. Any experiences????

After reading this thread for months, toying with the idea, gathering my old gold jewelry...I finally took the step and packaged up my "treasures" and dropped them at FedEx last night. My package should arrive tomorrow...then I have to wait over the weekend! Darnit, I could have timed that a bit better.

Anyway, fingers crossed for a nice chunk of change to come back. Here is what I sent in (not sure what is "real" gold and what isn't, although I think most of it is).
one men's ID bracelet
1 women's thin chain bracelet
8 women's rings (with stones still in)
2 pendants
3 sets earrings (that were gold nuggets)
3 hoop earrings
2pr gold post earrings
1 mens ring w/gold nuggets
1 ladies chain necklace
1 ladies chain necklace with gold nugget pendant (a small glass pendant about the size of a nickel filled with small gold nuggets).

Not sure how real unprocessed gold nuggets are calculated? Any ideas?

Will keep you posted on my total...it is fun to read of people's successes. Sort of like our own "Antiques Roadshow".

Dawn
