Wow! Christian Bale has some anger issues!

I heard the entire un censored verson on tmz.com. I dont care what the issue was, no one deserves to be talked to like that. I can't remember exactly, but he also went off like that to his sister. She filed charges against him for verbal abuse

Hey, I'm only repeating what Meredith Vieira said this morning on the Today show clip provided in the first post.

"They released this tape to the insurance company in case he cuts out of the movie, they wanted proof...." then Al Roker said..."that he's crazy".

:rotfl:

Yeah, he definitely has a few screws loose. Even if you are an actor, and you're immersing yourself in a character, you have absolutely no right to rip into someone like that. I would have felt so threatened if I was even in the room during that tirade. He needs anger management, and pronto.

I like Christian Bale...a lot. But he was being a complete tool/prima donna/dive etc. Uncalled for, childish, unprofessional.

That said, the DP is a moron too. He should know better than to mess around like that during a shoot, even if it is to fix a light.

What I want to know is where was McG? He's the director. the tongue lashing should have come from him. Actualyl, Bale SHOULD have reamed out the director for not doing his job and controlling the crew.

I'm completely gobsmacked that folks are willing to make excuses for Bale's behavior. How about you try going on a tirade like that next time a coworker irks you and let me know how that works out for you.

And please, spare me that "acting is stressful" BS. He's hardly curing cancer.

A guy where I used to work shattered a computer monitor when he got angry and he didn't get fired.

I don't make excuses for what he did - that was completely unacceptable. But I wasn't there, and don't know what the whole situation was. TMZ is a gossip site and they make up their own stories when they get something juicy like this.

He is so dedicated to the craft. I think someone is begging to make some noise (controversy) about this, but I don't think it's fair. The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it's an art form."

This isn't something Goodfairies said, it was a quote she posted from a director.

I agree. While the tirade to the average Joe Blow may sound extremely off kilter....it's important to realize that he is a very dedicated, trained, highly skilled, intense actor. Imagine how hard it would be to work on an intense scene with some clown walking around in the background fiddling with something. Apparently it was the second time this happened with this Director of Photography. The director should have reamed him for it the first time he did it, so the way I look at it, Christian did what the director SHOULD have done the first time.

This is a business people! How would a surgeon feel if some yokel bumbled through the operating room while they were performing surgery? I know acting isn't life and death but it's something that many of them are very passionate about.

So while the tirade seemed harsh, I don't think it was unjustified.

Also, I am not a HUGE fan so I'm not just trying to stick up for him because I like him.
Seriously - people who do work in life and death situations handle them much better than this guy handled...what...filming a movie?

I don't care how passionate or dedicated he is. He's an ***. Nobody should be yelling and screaming over that kind of crap. What a spoiled brat.

I never even heard of him before this, so it isn't like I have an ax to grind.

Whoa... sounds like somebody needs a reality check.

Wasn't there an incident just after Batman first came out where the police were called to his hotel room by his mother, when he was fighting with his wife? I think it was in Europe... he was arrested if I remember correctly. To me, I gave him the benefit of the doubt when the mess blew up with his family because, well, some families are just so bad they'd make anyone nuts. But, this is the 2nd time this got out to the press in a few months an it screams to me that this is a pattern. If it got out twice I am sure the real count of this behavior is astronomical.

If that's how he treats another grown man I can't even imagine how he treats women & kids. What a loser.

His mother and sister had a swearing match at him and his wife because he wouldn't give his sister £100,000 that she wanted.

When you hear things like this, it really shows how screwed up our value system is. This guy makes millions to act like a macho jerk and the most important people in our society, the day-care workers that take care of our children and the cna's and lpn's that take care of our elderly, make nothing in comparison. Imagine how stressful those jobs are in comparison to his emoting.

OMG DON'T YELL AT ME

The world ain't roses and candy.

No, but the world is full of pixie dust here on the Dis.pixiedust:

Wasn't Christian Bale that cute little boy on "Empire of the Sun?" He's an a@*, but I still think he is hot-looking.

I don't recognize him but I feel his tirade was totally unacceptable. And I'm glad it is known to the world because now we see that the man needs professional help.

The man yelled at another man for being unprofessional this was nothing that the world needed to know about and on that one row he needs professional help! Over something that was done and dusted over half a year ago.

People are quick to judge when it's not their life being talked about ;)

I work in a small but critically successful professional theatre. We try not to hire *********, no matter how talented they are, and we definitely won't work with them again if they are abusive. Actors are a dime a dozen and even the most intense situation calls for professionalism. The problem with the cult of celebrity in film is that there is so much money on the line that producers are willing to put up with "difficult" personalities for the payday.

Well, it is certainly not going to help his popularity, but, on the other hand, I'd rather face that than what James Harrison, defensive lineman of the Pittsburgh Steelers did to Aaron Francisco at work on Sunday night.

The DP is not really a "Crew" member... he sets up all of the shots and controls all of the lighting... he is one step below the director... he basically designs the lighting.

C. Bale is a jerk ...plain and simple.....

If he screamed like this at the DP he would have done the same to the Director....

I listened to the tape. The whole F-in thing! Christian Bale is either mentally ill, or a vicious bully. And the rest of the crew who stood there and let that tirade continue — not ONE person coming to that man's defense or telling Bale to shut it — well, what a bunch of cowards. They're just as bad as Bale is, in my book. Just. As. Bad. If this is how "actors" behave on Hollywood sets, however, and NOT ONE PERSON steps up to call them on their abusive behavior, well it certainly makes me understand Hollywood a lot more. What a bunch of useless, weak people. I'll never watch a film by this piece of human waste again. Couldn't stomach it. Out here where I live and work, it's the bully who unleashes the profane tirade against a co-worker who gets fired, not the other way around.

Just by listening to the lighting guy's replies, it almost sounded like the whole thing was staged. Maybe Christian Bale is trying to generate some more publicity, since he is an extremely underrated actor who doesn't get much press. Whether his tirade was real or not, I think he's a fantastic actor. :thumbsup2

The DP is a high ranking person on a set.... there is no need for other crew members to step up to Mr. Bale... the DP can handle himself...

now you are blaming the crew....:confused3 :scratchin and the entire industry??
