Wow -- Chicken Little Getting Savaged

My friend took her kids on Friday and she said it was terrible.

man Sharktail got bad reviews? I loved that movie!!

I have read nothing but poor reviews on Chicken Little :(

We saw is during the screening and loved it. I pay no attention to the critics (cousin is one and she told me about it).

I wonder if the reviewers knew this movie is for CHILDREN. Childern do not need thought provoking material. They like a good ending and this had one...predictable or otherwise.

(The only thing I thought predictable was that it would all end nicely tied up with a pretty little bow. B/c it is a kid's movie about an underdog...or in this case..an underchicken.)

I've pretty much heard that Chicken Little is strictly a kids' movie which is fine but doesn't make me particularly interested in seeing it. We're holding out for Harry Potter and Zathura. Plus, one that I hope does really well, Narnia.

It'll be interesting to see the box office. Keep in mind that it's been down for a while now.

Our reviewer said the voices are good but that it clearly shows how much Disney needs Pixar. He gave it 2 out of 4 stars. For comparison, he gave Wallace and Grommit 4 and Corpse Bride 3.

My kids want to see it but I sure don't. We told them they are going to have to wait til video.

Well, we saw it today. The theater was not even close to half full, which was a little bit surprising for a Saturday matinee.

It was fine, I though. Not good, but by that I don't mean bad. No real gravity or draw to pull you in. Even judged solely from a kid's perspective -- to the best I can and based on what the children seemed to think after leaving -- I think it's a diversion, not a force or a piece of magic like disney is able to make. From an adult's perspective, there was a lot to like about the title character, but there were also things that were really bad about the movie. I would never object to an animated children's feature as being "formulaic," but this was something different. It was almost like they picked little bits of shtick that have worked so well in other animated movies and tried to mimic them.

I actually really liked, liked it more than the Incredibles. thought it was funny and quite enjoyable (especially the fish) and would reccomend it.

I took my nephew to see Chicken Little today and I had high hopes, I thought it looked really cute from the commercials and things..........but well, it was just.....okay. I don't usually side with critics, but I gotta agree, it was no Pixar film. I thought it was better than Madagascar, but no where near as good at Toy Story, Monsters or Finding Nemo.

I tried to have an open mind, I thought even without Pixar, Disney could put a out a good movie......but it didn't "feel" Disney to me....it didn't have anything special and the story was a little, I don't know.......lacking? The ending was the best part, that was well done, but I don't know...the aliens?
They were a tad scary I thought and other than Chicken Little, there wasn't much character development....I didn't get really "attached" to any of them,
KWIM? A couple parts were funny, but it definitely lacked the clever and unique storylines of Toy Story, Nemo and Monsters. If I had just gone and seen the movie and didn't know anything about it, I never would have dreamed it was made by Disney. The attention to detail wasn't there to me either. The visual effects in Nemo were stunning, but in Chicken Little the backgrounds and the town seemed flat.

For any old kid's movie, not comparing it to the aforementioned, TS, Nemo and Monsters, I'd give Chicken Little a C+ -- but for Disney and in comparision to those movies, I give it a D.

Just because something is designed for kids doesn't mean that it also can't be a good movie.

There are definitely fluff movies, but Disney used to be very skilled at bringing together elements of children's entertainment, adult's entertainment, and good movie making skill. They accomplised only the children's entertainment on this one.

This can't even be put on the same level as movies like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and/or The Little Mermaid.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that Disney used to be able to make children's movies that were good movies. The two were NEVER mutually exclusive.

Since it exceeded even Disney's expectations, and raked in an estimated $40.1 million this past weekend, I don't think the studio cares about the reviews . . .

Well, I did my part and went and saw it this weekend but I was pretty disappointed.

The theatre was full of children but most of them got restless about halfway through. I heard a little girl further down our aisle asking her mom if they could leave now. There were a lot of really slow parts in the movie.

It was ok--just not very memorable and not as good as other Disney movies like Lion King, the Incredibles, Toy Story. Even though I'm an adult and my "baby" is 15, we usually love to go to Disney movies. Neither of us thought this one was that great. Mildly amusing but not great. And I couldn't even tell you what the songs were like--I don't remember them at all.

I took my son to see it this weekend, and we both liked it. I thought it was very funny. We will buy it when it comes out on DVD, and actually we may go back and see the 3D version in the theater.

We all saw it this weekend, 3 adults, 3 kids (9, 7 & 5). We all liked it very much. I loved it. I laughed out loud at quite a few spots. My kids sat through it very well and thought it was great.

As far as comparing it to other Disney Classics, all movies can't be great all the time or else we wouldn't have great movies! We'd have "movies". KWIM? I have a friend who separates movies into categories... movies and film. FILM is wonderful, ie Mulan! Movies are fun... something to take your mind off other problems. Chicken Little is a Movie. Fun, entertaining, cute and sweet.

Now, Babe Pig in the City was awful! Walked out of that one. If you want to see the difference in people's opinions... ask about Emporer's New Groove! :rotfl: One of the BEST comedic movies out there but some people dislike it! :confused3

We give Chicken Little two thumbs up.

My dd3 loved it, my DH (her date) said it was great for Ava but he was a bit blah about it. He said the theater was packed for it (1 O'clock show)

He did say it was worthing buying for her when it comes out.

That is how I felt, it was Ok but not great. My favorite character was the Fish out of water and he didn't even speak. I felt no real connection to Chicken Little, I knew I was supposed to but I never felt it. The movie came off disjointed for me, like there was a better movie in there somewhere but they just didn't bother to find it.

Yep, all that matters if the box office amount! I am guessing Narnia will do excellent at the box office as well, so that should really help Disney.

I think Chicken Little was really the first big kids movie in a while. I work at a movie theatre and for a few weeks just about all we had were R rated movies! We sold more Kiddie Combos this weekend then we've sold in a LONG time.

We saw it this weekend in 3D. It wasn't mind-blowing, but very enjoyable, and the 3D was a nice touch. I was worried it would be in red/blue 3D and was pleasantly surprised to get the cute polarized glasses!

Took my 10 & 11 yr old sons to see it on Saturday - 3D. We really enjoyed it. I do think that the 3D added to our enjoyment. I am famous for napping through movies - Wallace & Gromit had me napping. No nap during CL3D. It was definitely worth the extra $1.50/ticket for 3D.
