Would you take a week's vacation....to spring clean your house?

I took five vacation days not too long ago armed with a list of chores to accomplish. Chair gravity caught me, then books piled on and no chores got done but it was a GREAT lazy week. OP, I admire your coworker's self-discipline and resolve. I could never do it even though I did try.

This is causing a whirlwind of controversy here at work for some reason (we must be bored ;)...)

A coworker, married, in her 60s, absolutely lovely woman, is taking off all of next week to clean her house. She does it the way my grandma used to, taking everything out of a room, wiping down every single surface, wiping everything off before it goes back in the room, moving all the heavy furniture, etc. Her house is only 1500 sq ft, but she said it will take her every waking minute of those seven days to do the job "properly".

I love her dearly as a friend and coworker, but now I realize that I can never invite her to MY house :rolleyes1

I did ask her, if I volunteered a week of MY vacation time, if she would go to MY house and spring clean it, but she declined.

So, how important is spring cleaning to you?

Terri
....did my spring cleaning this weekend....I feel like I NEED a vacation now....:faint:

...I think my mental health and need for fun vacations outweighs my need for a spotless house. If my friends think my house is gross, they are free to invite us to their house instead. :)....
...or come clean yours....;)

I've tried to take a day off, saying I am going to clean, but somehow that just never works out for me!

I have before. I use to get 5 weeks so I would take a week to get all the little things done that use to pile up.

My uncle does it every May for the outside stuff.

I did my spring cleaning this weekend, and I am so exhausted I could use a vacation! :faint: Tonight I'm putting my feet up and watching some Disney movies (I'm trying to get through all 54 Walt Disney Animation Studios films before my next Disney trip). I would never take time off work to do it, though. Because I'm just starting off my career, I don't get very many days off per year, and those precious days are used for vacations, NOT spring cleaning! I admire the dedication of anyone who does it, though!
