Would you split this stay?

I have booked POR for Oct 1-10 (9 nights) but would like to try CR (if I get an Ap rate). For us the cost does factor into it so I was thinking about doing the following...

Arrive at POR on Oct 1 depart on Oct 4 & switch to CR from Oct 4 thru oct 10. 4 nights at POR so we can take the boat to DTD, see pianoman Jackson, & enjoy the lush grounds everyone raves about. 5 nights at CR for the location...we have mnsshp on 10/6 & it sure would be nice to walk back to our room at midnight with 3 sleepy kids.

Does that make sense to switch or is this too short a vacation to split? Should I just bite the bullet & stay at CR the whole time?

I think 9 days is fine to do a split stay. Last year we did 3 nights at HRH and 8 nights at GF and it worked out just fine. I would do it.

Sounds good to me! I don't think it's too short of a stay. Mine is short! 2 nights at Poly (I just wanted to try how it feels to actually stay there) and 3 nights at WL and 3 nights at POFQ. 3 splits in 8 nights. So your 2 splits in 9 nights is not bad at all. I would do it.

As far as staying the whole time at CR..it's up to you...if you have the money do it. But if it's really "tight" then I would do the split and enjoy both resorts.

I think you'll be there long enough to make switching possible. But of course we like to split our stayy so maybe i'm biased!!! If money is a factor why not make the POR stay 5 nights instead of 4 and make the CR stay 4 nights instead of 5! You'll save that much more money! If you plan accordingly switching shouldn't be a problem. We have 3 DD's and like I said we do it most every trip! Will you have a car or will you rely on Disney to transfer your luggage? We drive to WDW so we always have our own vehicle and I think that does help out!

Nope, no car this time so we'd have to rely on WDW to transfer. I based the days at CR on our planned MK & epcot days. Our MGM, DTD, & Ak days would be when we are at POR since we'd have to take a boat/bus anyway. Thanks

Thought of having to pack up and move while I'm trying to relax and enjoy my vacation sounds completely awfull. 10 nights is along time, however and killing a 1/2 day packing and moving might not be so bad. It makes me tired thinking of doing something like that though.

We switch almost every trip. The last 2 trips we stayed on DVC points Sun-thurs and then switched for either one or 2 nights to another resort. We have also switched 2 other times from a value to a deluxe for cost reasons. All of our trips have been under 9 nights. I agree though with the other poster susiev25 that suggested doing the 4 nights at PO and then moving to CR to save a little more money. Also, using Disney transportation to do this is simple. They will move all of your luggage for you, just ride the bus to DD or a park and hop on whatever bus is going to the CR or take the bus to MK and walk on over to CR. It is very easy and a great way to try different resorts without breaking the bank!

I think that is doabale! Last fall we split an 8 night stay between CBR and AKL (4 nights at each). I was worried about the split interupting our vacation and it was sooo easy.

Sounds fine to me. I wanted to split our 8 day stay but DH protested.
