Moving to the Orlando area from Indiana 3 years ago was a no brainer for us. My only daughter moved here about 16 years ago. We are up in Lake County, too -- away from the hustle and bustle of DisneyWorld, but close enough to drive down if we want to (mainly only when visitors are in town -- I work at the World and I like to go home in the evenings ...

)
Having lived in an area in Indiana where everything is close, it took some getting used to driving a half hour to get just about anywhere we needed to go. I think I have been in downtown Orlando twice since we moved here.
Whether you have school-aged children could be a big factor in decisions. From what I hear, the school systems here aren't that good. Crime, also, is amazingly scary compared to our college town in Indiana. The 11:00 news was really an eye-opener after we moved here.
Summers are hot, but they were hot and humid in Indiana, too. I agree with whomever said you don't have that nasty gray that seems to hang for 4 months in the winter in the Midwest. The sun has done amazing things for me and I feel a lot better here. We've had mild hurricane seasons since we moved down here (knocking on wood), and we always say we don't have to shovel rain or scrape it off the car windows (though I have had to scrape frost off of my car a few times this winter here!)
Even though we've been here 3 years, we really haven't availed ourselves to much travel within the state (but we didn't in Indiana either).
I've only seen one black snake around our house last year. Mockingbirds were doing a good job of chasing it across the back yard. The little anoles (geckos) are on our back porch and unfortunately sneak into the house every once in a while .... and with 4 cats, the poor little things don't stand a chance! I like the little guys.
We had big hairy field spiders in Indiana, which we don't have here.
I miss my Midwestern birds (robins, red-winged blackbirds, juncos), but trade off with sandhill cranes, blue herons, mockingbirds and other large water fowl.
Cost of living seems to be about the same beyond the housing market -- housing is *way* more expensive here than it was in Indiana. The job market has tightened down, but that's national, too. I would not move here if I didn't already have a job lined up!
So, that's what I've found.
