Would you let your daughter dress up in a boy costume?

:confused::confused: But...but..Spider-man doesn't have wings or a crown!

For halloween our DD (3.5) is in LOVE with spiderman. Would you let your daughter dress up as a boy costume for halloween? Can you think of any way to make it more femine? Maybe some wings or a crown or something??

:lmao:

From a former tomboy....let her be whatever kinda spiderman she wants to be. Do you want her to remember the halloween that mom and dad let her be spiderman, or do you want her to remember the halloween she wanted to be spiderman and mom and dad made her wear wings?

She's only little once, take a lot of pictures pull them out on prom night and you can all have a great laugh.

To be honest, at first I was going to say nothing wrong with it, but try to girl-ize it, (i.e. letting her hair hang down, putting a crown on, something like that) but after reading other's comments, I've changed my mind. I really don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. As one poster said, its Halloween, let her be something different. And the poster who said her mom bought her boy's underpants. Sometimes I think we get all caught up in what's "right" and acceptable, rather than just letting our kids be kids. Thanks posters for reminding me of this!! :)

If she wanted to be spiderman, I'd let her be spiderman. And I wouldn't change the costume to be more 'girly'. Spiderman doesn't wear a crown or have wings.

I can't wait to see pictures of your DD as spiderman!

Our neighbors have twin girls. One LOVES Batman. She's 6 and has been Batman for the last two years. Her favorite shirts are Batman too.

Last year for Halloween, when we all walked the block for treating, we had two Batmen, a pirate and a fairy. It was really fun to see people's faces that knew us all.

Have fun! Maybe you could be SpiderMom!

Let her do it! My DS2 loves to have his toenails painted- who am I to complain? (His dad hates it.... but who cares?) If they like it, let them go for it- it won't hurt them in the future. It may make some nice conversations for when they bring home their first boy/girl friends though. :goodvibes

Sure. DGS really wanted to be a witch last year. Prschool does not allow witches so we had to wear something else there but I bought the witch stuff too!!

Absolutely! When my very girly ballet dancer, DD14, was 5 she dressed up as an NSYNC era Justin Timberlake. She still refers to JT as her husband but she's never dressed up as a male for Halloween again - I'd let her if she wanted to.

DD #1 was PeterPan in Disney, Peter saw her during the Halloween parade and came over to talk to her, her sister was Wendy. I let them be whoever they want boy or girl. I bought same DD boys underwear for the McQueen/Mator combo because they didn't have girl underwear with those characters.

Another one here who has had one of her dds dress up in a boys costume. She was Woody. And she did make the cutest darn Cowboy around. She had no interest in dressing up as Jessie whatsoever. :lmao: Whatever in this world that my kids want to pretend to be or really be is always going to be fine by me! Kids are so unique and funny sometimes! That's what makes them neat!

Last year, my oldest DD (10 at the time) wore a boy's Jedi costume. She looked wonderful. We ran into some of her friends while out trick-or-treating, and she really stood out because they were all dressed more like Hannah Montana or something.

DD5 was going to be a ninja this year, but changed her mind to be a cat. Now, of course, she's talking about being a ninja cat. DD3 saw a batman costume and really wanted it, but I already bought her the witch costume she asked for.

Of course I would, no wings or crown needed.

I agree, let her be spidey :)
I love the buzz lightyear costume w/ the bows.....

not sure whats going on with DD she doesn't want to be anything :headache:
and I'm class mom volunteer lol, what am I going to do with her?

My youngest was Batgirl one year. That was what we settled on. If we were not in Disney that year for T or T I would have let her go as Batman.

As a mom of a girl the same age who is obsessed with dinosaurs, yeah I would be OK with it. I think a year ago I'd have said no, but I'm deinitely OK with it now. I've tried to push the girlier things, but it's just not "her." I had a lightbulb a-ha! moment when I realized that this little apple didn't fall far from the tree.. I'm not a girly girl either!

someone my have posted this already- but I did see a spidergirl costume at target- just like spiderman but it is a skirt--- 1 yr our girls were wonder woman, supergirl and batgirl- best costumes EVER.

I was Batman for Halloween in 1976! My friend and I (both girls) "played" Batman and Robin every day - we were obsessed with the TV show.

This year, DD3 wants to be Spiderman. I say...go for it!

Besides, everyone knows that if you want to make something more feminine, you add lipstick and long eyelashes! For examples, look at Bambi and the girl bunny he ends up with, or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cartoon. LOL!!

Never make something more "girly" by adding wings or a crown!! Lipstick and long eyelashes. That's it.

I would let my DD wear a boys costume...she liked wall-e boys pjs and we got the for her and she loves them. We also got her a boys handy manny shirt and boots when she was into him.

barnes and noble online has 2 different spider girl costumes

Absolutely! One year my DD wanted to be a pirate and she was. A clerk at Kmart told me how cute my son was, and I said thank you. It definitely didn't bother me or her. She was about 2 at the time. And in first grade she wanted to be Buzz Lightyear, so she was. Fellow classmates tried to convince her that Buzz was supposed to be a boy but she thought that was preposterous.
