Would you just shut up and do it or speak up?

Yep, I would say something. You don't have to get all huffy, but no sense being a doormat either.

I would have done the same as you OP. You already emailed the coach. Did you get a response? Around here, the coach is not too concerned with the snack schedule and usually delegates that to a parent volunteer to figure who works what shift. Then again, if your son is on a good team, maybe get the shift over with and enjoy watching your son as the team advances in the tournament. Good luck to the team.

Hi guys!

Yes, I did email the coach and didn't think to CC to the rest of the team . Shucks! Should have let you guys respond first before I did it.

The coach is away for the weekend so I won't probably hear until tonight or tomorrow.

To answer some questions: There is a buy-out but it is $10.00 for the hour. Guess I could just do that but why should I when I took my turn to work when some parents didn't.

Some on here answered back to me like I'm trying to get out of it, I'm not! Some of these mothers only did 1 concession stand duty then when it was their turn to bring the team snacks conveniently forgot those too. I worked concession stand TWICE and remembered the snacks.

We have never played in this community before. Our house is for sale and I petitioned DS to play here since this is where we're moving to. (guess if we don't sale the house, they won't let him play again next spring  We do know people here though since DS goes to school in this community and we did live here previously) So I don't know how they do tournaments. The schedule was made up for some moms to do concession twice, during trhe regular season some three. Due to rain-outs and such , some ended up with only 1 time but not more than 2. Not sure how the coach figured I did only 1 time though.

It does make me mad that he let the whole team know about asking me. He could have emailed me privately.

I'll update you guys when I find something out.

The coach should have contacted you privately. He probably didn't think before he typed. DH coaches DD's t-ball team and it is next to impossible to get people to volunteer, so we end up picking up the slack. We have a Team Parent who is in charge of concessions, but ultimately either she or I end up with an unfilled time slot. Hopefully it will all work out and he will be able to get someone who has not done their requirement. Good luck in the tournament!

BTW We are all scheduled to work at times when our children are NOT playing. Yes it means an extra trip to the ballpark (luckily not too far for us) but we don't miss any of their games. Maybe something to think about suggesting for next year.

I think you did the right thing. I would not want to do more than everyone else either. It seems like they would make a schedule at the very beginning and it would be up to the parents to find a replacement if they could not do it for one of their scheduled times. My DH coached last year & I know it is a lot of work. The coach probably either didn't realize you just worked a shift, or thought that maybe you wouldn't mind working another shift.
As far as rain-outs, it seems like whoever was scheduled for the original game would be the one who would work the rain-out, unless they did not make up that game.
Luckily in our DS's league all of the parents chose to pay $10, so none of us had to work the concession. Best $10 I ever spent!!
