LOL! You said it! :earseek: I remember being in that house as a kid. I never had the feeling that it was a "warm" house. My house and the neighbors' next door did, but not this house across the street. :scared1: I remember one of her stories. That was more than enough for me!

I would not even buy a house that anyone had died in never mind been murdered in. When my father collapsed at home he was still alive until they reached the hospital....I had told my mom good thing because if he died in the house we would have had to move! They bought this house new so no one has died in it EVER!

Sellers do not have to tell. at least not in arkansas. We know the house we are living ins history because we have owned property in neighborhood for thirty years now, there have been 4 ppl die in this house. one in each of the remaining bedrooms, and 2 in the room that was torn off years ago. the guy we bought house from did not know that they had happened:) so far the ghosts seem to be having fun, they love our cats, and approve of the repairs we have made so far,

You don't have to disclose that info in AZ. I'm pretty sure my realtor in CA. said that anything like that had to be disclosed there. Guess it just depends on your state.

There was a double murder in a VERY upscale neighborhood here. I thought for sure someone would get a bargain on that house! Not so, it sold for about the same $$ per square foot as comparable homes in the neighborhood.

Maybe the disclosure would be more along the lines of ethics rather than laws??

Wow... this was the exact topic this morning on the Central MA radio station I listen to driving to work! WXLO 104.5 FM

Someone emailed in that they had found the perfect first house to buy at a great price. They later learned that a "grizzly double murder had taken place there 5.5 yrs ago". The husband still wants to buy, but the wife says no way. They had emailed the station asking for opinions since prices are nuts here in MA, and it was a good price. (No wonder.)

For the record.....most callers said "NO!!!! They wouldn't buy."

Now... my story. My step MIL was killed (strangled) in her own home Jan 1996 in CT by a "friend" and left to die until found by her daughter 3 days later. She had recently quickly divorced my FIL. (Still a mystery.) Anyway.... even after the funeral... I NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT HOUSE AGAIN. Luckily they sold....(everyone knew the story)....and I visit FIL in a new house now.

I think we have to disclose that here. I guess I would want to know but I dont know how that would affect my decision or not. We are renting fil house out in another state. The couple said they love the house etc. We didnt tell them fil died in the house, it was not a pretty sight and I wont go into the details. Lets just say the cousin who lives next door found him. I hope the cousin doesnt tell them. I really dont think it will make them change their mind, they said in the house they are in now has spiders that are crawling out of the fireplace, the bathtub is about to collapse from the 2nd floor etc. so for them to get our fil is a step up for them. I however, wont use the bathroom there when we go. That is where he died, our 3 ds also refuse to use it. It is cleaned up, but the thought of it gets to us. DH on the other hand uses the bathroom and cleaned up everything the corenor and mortician missed.

That made me believe that you can feel past experiences. I don't know why but I do know I felt a sadness I'll never forget.
:( :( :grouphug:

They must not have to disclose here. After our friends moved into a new house, they found out that a child had died in the swimming pool. They lived with the pool for a while. They decided that with three kids aged four and under, they didn't want to take a chance on history repeating itself and had it filled in. A nice bonus was that their insurance rates went down.

BF and I are casually thinking about buying our first home, and our friends/relatives know this. I had a cousin commit suicide, and my mother (granted, after some time passed) suggested buying her home to me. I quickly said "no way" and she asked my reasons:

a) it just creeps me out. i wouldn't ever feel comfortable.

b) i know the person. i know it happened in the house, where it was, how, etc.

c) i couldn't invite family to my home without feeling they might be uncomfortable, what they're thinking, etc.

I adore old homes, and understand those things may have happened, but something 80 years ago, or natural isn't too bad. I don't know that I would buy any home where someone died violently, a child death, or where it had been recently advertised somehow...make sense?

That's just me!

I currently live in a house where a murder took place! Happened the summer of 1923. Seems that 2 young men were fighting over a young lady and things grew out of hand. One of the men was stabbed and killed. There's some confusion as to whether it happened in the front parlor or the room that is currently my bedroom. I've never experienced anything really odd or spooky. I'll admit the place looked perfect for the filming of a horror movie when we moved in, but I changed all that. Friends have urged us to turn this into a Bed and Breakfast. If I do, WHO'S coming to stay????? Very close to WDW!!!!!!!::yes::

Not if I knew about it before buying!!! I do believe in ghosts (if you want to call them that). A friend of mine on the next street over from me has a friend living next to her who claims to have a ghost in the house. About 15 years ago, a young woman was murdered there. Creepy!

Hey, how's it going?

Across the pond...come visit! :)

Depends... do I have to clean the chalk outline myself or is someone else going to do it for me? :earseek:

There was a 12 yr. old girl that committed suicide in her bedroom in a house on our block. What would make a 12 yr. old child commit suicide?:( :(

This happened shortly before we bought our house, 8 years ago. The family was renting the house and they remained living in it for almost 2 years after the suicide. It did take several months before another family bought the house. The realtors had to disclose this information to potential buyers. I have been in that house many times and have never "felt" anything strange.

We actually bought our house 2 years after an incident with two teenage sons killing their parents. They were not sure if they did it in the house or in the backyard.....very strange story. I kinda remember it happening but the realtor told us in the state of CA you only have to report for two or three years. It is any sort of death and they use the term....."possible death of occupant" or something like that. If the other brother not involved had waited a couple of months he would not have to disclose. The realtor said we could demand a blessing or whatever else we wanted.

Also weird when we went into escrow- we bought the house from two estates and the brother not in jail!! Long process but we save 30K on the house! It was in terrible condition and needed numerous repairs but what we could afford so after 10k and a ton of sweat it was a complete redo! I have never noticed anything strange but we have one friend who refuses to come over!! We have lived here for 10 years now!

We have a house a few blocks from me where the teenager killed his whole family...I always wondered who moved into the house because it was a very well publicized case.

I personally don't know if I could buy a house where I know someone was killed. When my dad died at home sitting in his chair, I could not sit in that chair at all. Now that it is in a different house i have no problems sitting in it.
