Could be. I found out today that we are buying from an LLC with Vacation Club in the title, which sounds suspiciously like a commercial renting entity. At that level of points they probably rent a bunch out
Now run the math with 2BD & GV’s…. Quite easy to use 2000+ points….Could be. I found out today that we are buying from an LLC with Vacation Club in the title, which sounds suspiciously like a commercial renting entity.
I’m not saying any users here rent commercially, but I wouldn’t be surprised if many owners have run the numbers to see how many contracts they’d need to buy before the points they could rent out would cover dues and possibly even some portion of the pro-rated contract price.
I’ve done some modeling around the way we expect to vacation over the next decade or so, and I’m seeing that we could make good use of about 1300 points. Yes, more would mean staying in 1BDs where I have us settling for deluxe studios, and perhaps we could squeeze another night out here and there with more points, especially in the summer, but honestly even with 1300 points, we’d probably have to rent some of them out occasionally. That’s a lot of Disney vacations, and we still do international once or twice a year and some domestic travel here and there, so something has to give.
Or they use their points. Speaking from experience- GVs and cabungalows eat a lot of points. At that level of points they probably rent a bunch out

Wow that was a post from 2 years ago. I can’t believe how fast time has flown. Happy slightly belated 3 year DVC anniversary to us!I feel this. We stayed on rented points early last year to try it out and visit most of the WDW resorts and ended up buying 200 PVB points direct when we got home, and our resale VGC contract closed not much after. Now, much to our surprise, we are buying at VGF, too (passed ROFR today and submitted the paperwork for direct, since we needed more points than the resale contract we got; long story), so are almost halfway to the 1000 club. At this rate, it won’t be much longer…
Oh, believe me: I've run the math. We can't justify anything more than a couple of 2BD every couple of years (VGC and VGF) for 4 nights each (for extended family visits). After that it's 1BD whenever the immediate family travels together, and DS for when I visit WDW with my child a couple times over the summer. Now run the math with 2BD & GV’s…. Quite easy to use 2000+ points….
Haha. I'm so bad at looking at post dates sometimes. If things go according to plan, this time next year we'll be adding another 250 points (BCV), putting us at 705.Wow that was a post from 2 years ago. I can’t believe how fast time has flown. We use all of our 3,555 points.*Or they use their points. Speaking from experience- GVs and cabungalows eat a lot of points.
We use all of our 3,555 points.*
We travel to the parks frequently, mostly staying in 1BR. We have stayed/booked 57 nights in 2026 and also have 57 nights booked/planned in 2027.
We do treat ourselves to Grand Villas and Cabungalows for 10-15 nights per year, and they are indeed expensive...we don't have nearly enough points to always stay in them. We also occasionally have overlapping or 'bumper' nights so we have a room during more hours of the day.
* About 150 of our points are used to book a room for family we travel with yearly. These points (and really their entire trip) are gifted, not rented. As for transferring the deed to our family, they don't use the full points from the deed and we've found it's much easier to book/control everything ourselves. Frankly, we have zero confidence in their own ability to book.
I share as a cautionary tale:Thank you for making my husband feel better about my measly (lol) 1090 pts. He has continually wondered if we have too many (hah!) and thought only the commercial renters would have large quantities of points like that. Your clear explanation of how your points are used makes me seem downright conservative in my point accumulation. Maybe he’ll stop cringing when I talk wistfully about Lakeshore Lodge…
I share as a cautionary tale:
I found a note I had in my Notes app from a little less than 2 years ago when we were at 1,655 points.
…
Welp.
We also occasionally have overlapping or 'bumper' nights so we have a room during more hours of the day.
We are doing that with our split stay coming up in a few weeks. We have an extra day at VGF so we can stay there until 6pm or so and then head over to Boardwalk and enjoy the after hours night.I do this a lot too. I book the Sunday night even though we won’t stay and will actually leave the resort mid/late afternoon to head home. Yes, I could save the points that night by checking out by 11am, but I want the flexibility of having the room all day until I leave.
Many of us like to do silly things such as stay in rooms larger than we need, have rooms that overlap so we have a place to hang out during a split stay, or what I am most guilty for, hosting friends family to "force" the fun. Happy to pay it forward and take over the mantle of the crazy family "uncle" who allows the kiddos to experience awesome things that they may not be able to do. We didn't have a lot when I was growing up and we had a good family friend we called "uncle" who would host us with his toys which allowed us to have great experiences on his boats, his quads/sandrails, stayed at his timeshares/vacation home in Lake Havasu, etc.At that level of points they probably rent a bunch out

I wish I could stay in a cabin but those GVs are so close to the cost and I'd rather have that extra room/space and we almost always end up bringing friends.... A CCV cabin will happen one of these days.Or they use their points. Speaking from experience- GVs and cabungalows eat a lot of points.

I'm currently planning a trip for friends/family to WDW for summer of 2027 what will likely need about 1800 to 2400 points and I'm also looking to plan a micro family reunion for Summer 2028 to align with the LA games for the east coast family to come visit, have a few days at DLR, and then try and catch some of the events for the Olympics.
The flexibility of the membership with banking and borrowing makes it fairly easy for those close to or joining to the comma club to "go crazy" and make some magic if they wish as 1000 points can turn into 3000 with some planning and that can be a fairly fun trip for a large party![]()
