In honor of my dd18 having only 40 days of high school left I ordered an Edible Arrangement to be delivered to her today. In the "instruction" box I noted "PLEASE DELIVER AS EARLY IN THE MORNING AS POSSIBLE".

The store opened at 7:00 a.m. today. I called at 11:00 and it had not gone out. The woman told me she had another delivery for the same school that she was working on and once that one was done they be go out, she stated she was aware it was a school and for a student and that they "should" be delivered by noon.

Well they still haven't been delivered and it's almost 1:00 p.m. School gets out at 1:45 (I told Edible school got out at 1:00).

I am upset for a few reasons: First, my only request was that it go out early. Secondly, even if it is delivered in the today she will not have time to enjoy it with her friends in school.

Ok, rant over.

Does it state anywhere that they guarantee a delivery time? When did you place the order? I would be upset as well, but can understand if it was only a 'request' I made and not something that they have promised to do. At this point though, I would ask for my money back, because I would worry that it's not going to make it on time.

I know this isn't the point, but I'm very curious - what makes 40 days left any more or less significant than say, 39 days? Is there some specific reason why the gift would be less meaningful if it didn't get delivered until tomorrow? (Genuine question - not being snarky. :flower3:)

Yeah, I think the whole point of an EDIBLE arrangement is so it can be eaten at a reasonable time. Once lunch is over, the delivery time is no longer "reasonable".

Stating as soon as possible leaves it open for their interpretation of what that is. If you try this again, I would put a specific time on your order and maybe save yourself some frustration.

At our school, it would be a moot point. Deliveries would go to the office to be picked up at the end of the day.

I don't think our schools would even accept deliveries for students! Do they eat them in class?
It would have never happened in my kids HS, either. I also wondered if the students were allowed the eat the delivered treats in class.
This must be a wealthy school district. If the HS office secretaries are available to manage individual student food/party deliveries it indicates to me they must have quite a large staff.

I was scratching my head about this, too. At our HS, they clearly state no deliveries. Think about it--how many people would be sending pizza, balloon bouquets, floral arrangements, Chinese food, and on and on! I think the whole idea is ridiculous.

P.S. OP, you should have been more specific.

I can't imagine my kids high school would accept delivery of something like this for students.

I'm also curious about the significance of 40 days left of school. I have a senior. I haven't added up how many days she has left, but I know its less than 40. She's getting a graduation present. It never occurred to me to do anything more than that.

I totally get why you are annoyed, because you had a good plan in your mind that didn't play out. But your request was really vague - delivery time can be all day. So getting there in the early afternoon can be considered as early as possible when considering that some people won't get deliveries until 5pm. If you had a specific time that it was really needed, then you should have asked if that was something they could do.

I also agree with most other PPs that I'm shocked your school is OK with something like that.

I'm guessing you know whether the school accepts these or not... >.>

I'd be annoyed especially cause you called. I mean yea, there probably isn't a guarantee that they can deliver them when everyone wants, but I would think for a company specializing in delivering gifts, they could make that a priority for the business lol.

My high school allowed deliveries. Freshman year my sister decided to send me flowers for my birthday to school. She called that morning asking me about what shop I would be in that day (My birthday is in september so we were still in the freshman exploratory period) but I thought she was just curious.

Then I get called to the superintendent's office. A teacher had to walk me there because I didn't even know where it was. They did have me leave the flowers in there for the day. Then I had to bring it home on the bus and carry it up the hill to my house (kind of wish she picked a smaller arrangement/smaller vase that thing was HEAVY)

I'd rather have cash or a restaurant gift card than an edible arrangement.

Does Edible Arrangements allow you to specify a deliver time?

I am also shocked the school allows this.

Beyond that, no I would not be upset that it as not delivered before 1:00 unless you were specifically told it would be. My guess would be that arrangements are assembled in the morning and deliveries are made in the afternoon (early) and evening (late) hours. Unless I called and specifically asked BEFORE ordering about having things done before 1:00 and was told that was fine, I do not think it I'd have a right to expect it to happen.

Given that this is on the FAQ on their website, no, i would not be upset:

I would like my order(s) to be delivered at a certain time. Do you offer timed deliveries?
We cannot guarantee delivery times, but we will do our best to accommodate the open hours of offices, schools and businesses. Any request for a specific delivery time cannot be honored. You should not include any such request or delivery instruction with your order, as it will not be taken into account for your delivery.

You can always Track Your Order online any time, or contact Customer Service for tracking assistance at 1-877-DOFRUIT (1-877-363-7848).

Just answering other questions on here, but I went to a private high school and they allowed deliveries all the time. All day long the office had 3 student runners, they would run deliveries and letters and anything that had to go to and from the office. At the beginning of each year, the students would 'apply' for these jobs and 3 students from that periods study hall would be runners. You spent your study hall outside of the office doing school work at the table there for runners. The secretary would come out and call one and off they would go. If they were going to students, they would be delivered to the classroom with the name on whatever it was and put on a table that was at the entrance to the classroom. No one was disrupted at all, unless it was an emergency and in that case, the secretary just called the student via the PA system.
