Would you be upset? Delivery rant

To respond to a few questions:
1. Yes, the school allows deliveries
2. I wouldnt call the school wealthy, but it is very affluent
3. The high school is very large
4. 40 days left had no special, significance. I just wanted to do something nice to mark the end of her high school career
5. I requested "as early IN THE MORNING as possible". I then called at 11am and explained theynschool day ended about 1ish

wow that doesnt sound nice i would be mad they bought it late thats not very nice of them i would get a free Edible Arrangement if this happened too me

From what I can see they don't guarantee a specific delivery time. Did they tell you when you ordered that they did? Otherwise, I would say it is just like a Disney request. They meet it if they can, but that is all.

That stinks. Deliveries can be really frustrating sometimes! I would be upset that they weren't delivered on time, too. I'm a little surprised at an Edible Arrangement, though. I would think the fruit would be bulky to carry from class to class and would be distracting - at least it would have been for me! I would have felt awkward eating my fruit in class with everyone's jealous looks! lol

Regarding high school deliveries, my high school allowed deliveries at school. Our high school had front office aides that students could apply for and they would take care of answering the phones, signing in tardy kids, and doing general help in the office. They would have 3 different students during different hours (off hours with no classes). They were also the deliverers, but most of the time the office would just call kids down to the office to pick up items. Our high school wasn't a very big school, but it wasn't too small either. People didn't have very many things delivered now that I think about it. My group of friends had a teacher that we were good friends with and would all eat lunch with her. We would always do a lunch run and pick things up to bring back to school, though. It would have been too hard to have something delivered and delivered on time for our 45 minute lunch. Sometimes we had to sneak things in the back way, we weren't allowed to bring food into the classrooms or general areas outside of the cafeteria or open areas. Probably because our school was so new! We were such rebels! lol

But they didn't bring it late. As posted, they clearly state that they don't guarantee specific delivery times. On what basis would you "get a free Edible Arrangement"?

Yes, it is too bad that the timing didn't work. And, yes, I could see being upset by it, but there is no blame to be put on Edible Arrangement.

I am going to have to agree with SirDuff here---Edible Arrangements does not promise to deliver by a certain time..in fact their policy clearly states that you cannot count on a deliveries being made at any certain time at all---so that means they upheld their end of the bargain and there is no basis for being upset, or asking for compensation (like a free arrangement).

If timing as so important to the OP (and I can see why it would be) then she needed to read through the policies and then, seeing that she as not supposed to request a time via the order form and that requests cannot be garunteed, she should have called BEFORE ordering and asked if her wish could be accommodated---calling at 11;00 on the day of, having placed the order already, isn't really fair---by 11 the day's plan as probably already made and underway.

(you did a great job jumping into the thread with a relevant comment/opinion here Mike :goodvibes )

I can give some room to being irritated if the order was placed on the phone and they actually led you to believe they would accommodate your request when you placed the order. I'm sure a lot of us have been on the end of a deal where at purchase everything is "no problem" and then when it comes time to deliver the goods a merchant acts as if they've done you a favor by doing business with you.

I too have a graduating senior and there is no way this type of delivery would be permitted. If it's specifically designed to be shared with friends, there's no way it's not disruptive. Mine is up to her eyeballs right now with AP exam prep and would take off my head if I did this.

while the way my mom complains we get free stuff because they want her off the phone
Personally I think it is rude and wrong to complain with the intent of getting freebies--unless something truly as handled very poorly and that is the only reasonable way for a company to 'fix' the problem they created. When companies feel pressured to give handouts to loud complainers who were not actually mistreated, it costs everyone else more in the long run as the companies end up raising prices to cover those things

I hope your mother is not complaining for trivial things or things which are really her fault (like in this case, the OP expecting something which is clearly stated is not something she had a right to expect) and only hen she has legitimate reasons (which really should not be all that often for any one person I would think).

no it wasnt meant too be mean my mom gets free stuff when company in this case we would just have the Edible Arrangement late no issuses but lets say it was pizza and it was late yes we would get a free pizza

Agreed! Getting something just to "get you off the phone" is very different than getting something because the company legitimately owes you compensation for having messed up. One makes you an entitled jerk and other does not.

I'm not sure how you can claim that. Nowhere does Edible Arrangements guarantee a delivery time. If they did, it would be totally different. They were not late with delivery, no time was promised.

Disney is exactly what I thought of in this case. An ADR is NOT going to get you seated at that time, but they will try to get you seated ASAP. Their website says that they cannot pinpoint delivery times, but they will try. They tried and they couldn't, no need for them to do anything. Next time try calling BEFORE placing the order.

Given that this is on the FAQ on their website, no, i would not be upset:

I would like my order(s) to be delivered at a certain time. Do you offer timed deliveries?
We cannot guarantee delivery times, but we will do our best to accommodate the open hours of offices, schools and businesses. Any request for a specific delivery time cannot be honored. You should not include any such request or delivery instruction with your order, as it will not be taken into account for your delivery.

You can always Track Your Order online any time, or contact Customer Service for tracking assistance at 1-877-DOFRUIT (1-877-363-7848).

Thanks for answering my question. :flower1:

No OP, I would not be upset.

Since they clearly don't guarantee delivery, I would not be upset that it wasn't dropped off when I hoped it would be. Of course, I would never send something like that to my kid at school to begin with, so I guess it's a moot point for me.
