this will be our first Christmas at disney. it would be me, my husband and my dd8. i have heard a lot about the candlelight processional but im not sure my daughter will enjoy it. what do you guys think?? any experiences??

Unless you have the CP dinner package, my primary concern would be whether she was up for the extended wait for a spot to sit.

Is it possible to enjoy part of the program without having a place to sit? Is it held inside or outside?

she will absolutely love it - see if you can get the dinner package - but if not - have dinner close by and try towards the start time - we went there in 2009 and got on line late & still got a seat - so you may not have to wait that long - took my daughter when she was small & then again about 10 years later & she loved it both times -

The way its always been answered here is can she sit through a 45 minute church service?

Some have posted that they have seen kids that couldn't make it.

Now that I think about it, its probably not so much the actual event but that they have been waiting in line for x amount of time and now they are excepted to sit still for another hour.

We did candlelight processional when our twins were 8 and they Loved it! If you ask them today what their favorite part of our Christmas trip will be candlelight processional! Girls are 12 now! I say go for it!

I doubt anyone here can tell you if your dd will like something or not. Have you researched exactly what CP is?? It is a telling of the life of Christ...basically. A large, multi-school choir processes in, with candles. There are trumpeters along the sides of th theater. There is a full orchestra, with a smaller choir of WDW CMs. A guest narrator then reads various approprite passages from the New Testament....the choirs then sing an appropriate piece of music that augments the reading.
If your dd enjoys holiday/church music, then she will most likely enjoy the performance. It is about 45 mins long...and you do have to wait in line to be seated. And if you haven't purchased a CP pkg, then you'll be waiting in the standby line, which can be lengthy, depending on time of show and the particular narrator.
You can also just stand along the sidewalk, behind the theater, and watch/listen from there. It's not quite the same, but it is an option. I know that last year, when Whoopi was narrating, the people standing outside the theater made it almost impossible to get past the area!!!!

She'll enjoy it's much as she'd enjoy going to church while in Epcot.

I love it. I highly recommend it for adults. Kids that age...not so much.

At eight years, if you've done even a half decent job raising her, I'm sure she could sit through it quietly, even if it bored her.

But I don't know about "enjoy."

She might like it. Some kids do.

+1 :thumbsup2 Yes this falls into the only you know your kid category.

My daughter was 7 when we went the first time and she loved it and is looking forward to going again this year. However, the family next to us had to leave because their 8 year old was bored silly and hated the whole thing. I would say if your daughter likes music and singing, she will be fine, if not, then maybe skip it.
