...of getting a studio at VWL for Dec. 26-31 at the 7 month window? (not including NYE; that would be check-out morning)

I'm making a day-by-day ressie at BWV for those dates. I'm thinking that I may try to change it over to VWL when the 7-month window rolls around. I've been wanting to try VWL for the first time, and Christmastime would be terrific. Am I dreaming to even think that I could get a studio for those dates?

:rotfl:

So whaddya think?

Hi,

Last year the VWL had rooms available through the 26th of December at the 7 month window. Who knows, maybe they will have something later next year. If not, wait list and see what happens. You will already have your reservation, so you will have nothing to lose. Good luck.

Sure, I think it's possible if you call right at 7 months. Thinking of this scenario-we own at VWL, but want to stay at OKW at that time. So suppose we'd made ressies, then switch over to OKW at 7 months. Voila-availability at VWL!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! You're all right. I have nothing to lose, so I will try for it. :D

When I have waitlisted before, I've done it for one day at a time rather than for the whole stay. But this time, I'm thinking of making it for the whole stay because I'd rather not move. Either 5 nights at VWL or 5 nights at BWV, but not a split stay. Maybe that will pretty much ruin my chances with the waitlist.
I hope not.

Any other opinions out there? Thanks again! :D

Simply make your 11 month reservations then call at 7 months from your check out day. You can then wait list for the entire time if you want and VWL is not available when you call. Since you're going anyway, you have nothing to lose. At 30 days, simply call back and get on the new wait list. Then call daily starting at 7 days out when the wait list is no more.

With the parks being so crowded at that time of the year, it's not such a bad idea to stay at BWV- at least you can walk to two parks and not have to deal with parking or buses all the time. Boats to MK from WL are pretty crowded as well. As far as Wait list, Call first thing at 7 month window so you will be at top of the list- there are always changes and cancellations. I think you can add to wl day by day as well, but I agree have it for the whole time, moving is not fun.

Have you thought of renting points from a VWL member
and either banking your points or renting them to another person. BWV is very popular and should be easy to rent points out. That way you could get a VWL reservation at 11 month window

More good advice and thoughts to toss around between now and the 7 month window! Thanks for all of your excellent replies.

It's a good point that BWV is a location hard to beat over the busy holidays. I've stayed there the past 2 Christmases, and have loved being so close to 2 of the parks.

On the other hand, since being a DVC owner I'm getting more and more laidback about urgency getting to the parks. I have an AP, so I'd be content to come and go whenever I could get there. This MAY be a solo trip (plans are very soft at this point), so I thought it might be a good trip on which to try VWL.

Maybe I'll change my mind in the next few months, stick with BWV for Christmas, and try for VWL another time. Or I may go for it. I feel encouraged that it isn't out of the question to get VWL at 7 months out for Christmastime. :D

Thanks again, everyone. You're all great!
