Worth it to get an annual pass?

We are going to WDW for 7 nights in Oct, and we are 90% sure we will be going again in 2006. I guess I am wondering if it'd be to our advantage to get an annual pass if those are the only two times we will make it down within a year's time.

Are there always discounts on rooms for AP holders? Or do you have to wait and hope they come out? If they are always available, where can I find the discount amounts?

Thanks for the help, just wondering if it is worth it, or if we are better off just trying to get codes, or using our AAA discount...

Thanks,
Andy

Seems like you need to be a scientist to figure out the best way to go...

We are booked now with the AAA discount on our room, haven't bought the tickets yet. We were kind of hoping a code would come out, and we could book the entire package, and then potentially add the dining package.

Now the AP thing throws a wrinkle into it. Sounds like you get a discount off of the dining if you are an AP holder, but I am still wondering about room discounts.

My head hurts.

More like a fortune teller. Anyway, historically, there have been plenty of AP Room discounts. But who knows what the future will bring? If you're thinking about the AP solely for Room discounts, I say don't get it. If you plan on going twice in one year, maybe. But if you have a sneaking suspension that you might be able to possibly fit a third trip in in a year, then definately.

Well, I think we'll definitely go twice, but not three times. Might be more hassle than it's worth then. I'll just hope a code, or Disney Visa deal comes out, and then we can go with the package. If not, the AAA discount is better than a punch in the face. :)

Thanks.

Last year general codes were only $6 more at the value resort than AP codes so if doing it strictly for room discounts then I wouldn't suggest it.

If however you will use it more than 9 days at a park then I think it would be cost efficient to use it.

So lets say you plan on using it 6 days this year and 6 days next year.

One Adult AP with tax = 420.68 or about $35 a day for those 12 days.

If you get a Magic Your Way ticket for 10 days with no expiration and park hopping it will cost you 33.20 a day but you will only get 10 days instead of 12.

So it may take some math and figuring out which way would work best for you.

It does depend on how many days you will be going to the parks, and where you will stay. If you stay at a deluxe resort, the AP makes it worth it. We had a $237/night BDP code rate at the Contemporary and it went down to $199/night with an AP. You don't need the AP to make the Ap reservations, so you can wait until AP rates come out to decide. You can also buy just one AP to get the resort discount, and buy 10 day no-expire tickets for the rest of the family if you are unsure you will return within a year. The no-expire MYW tickets never expire.
