Worst Restaurants

HHMMM.... keep in mind, with my choices that I am not a fan of a Buffet... I am usually appalled at the manners of many at a WDW Buffet (or any buffet, but I think at the World, there is just more of it to see at a time, and I frankly think that many with rowdy children think since they are at WDW that it is "ok" to be horrendous.. can you tell I am a teacher?).

Biergarten.. yuck.. but cute atmosphere
Chef Mickeys... sorry, but I am always shocked at the folks that eat off of their plate while in line, or take a bite and chew off of the buffet.. add to that very average food + unsupervised children (yes I have have children and love kids) running around..
Coral Reef... what a disappointment, but lovely environment
San Angel Inn... very very average
And unfortunately, one of the biggest rip offs must be Akershush Princess meals in Norway. We usually go every time, and just tell myself we are paying for character interaction. lunch or breakfast.. room temperature, rubbery, bad food with very average service :...
We just do not do most of the buffets unless there are characters, except, we have always enjoyed 1900 Park Fare.
Our favorite is Boma!!

There is my 2cents.. :cool1:

We found the food at San Angel Inn to be very bland and inauthentic Mexican. Everything tasted like flour tortillas; there wasn't enough seasoning or flavor in the filling.
I keep in mind, though, when I visit, that sometimes I've hit the restaurant at a busy time, or the server is having a bad day, or just something bizarre has happened, so I don't think I've been to many restaurants that I just wouldn't return to.
Other odd things we've experienced:
- A fly swimming in a white cream sauce at Akershus (shudder)
- A woman at Bistro de Paris wearing no pants, no shirt, just a string bikini & transparent sarong. (thankfully, the bikini bottom was a full bottom, not a g-string - thank goodness for small favors)
- A 5th/6th grade boy (again at Bistro - go figure) alternately mooning people & picking his own crack (double shudder)
- A man at Rose & Crown sitting next to us, picking his nose & wiping it in on the table

These are mostly things out of the restaurant's control - a fly flew in, a child was being disgusting & his parents weren't watching, and a man was being disgusting under his own steam. I do think, though, that they could have a "no pants, no shirt, no service" rule at the restaurants, especially those, like Bistro, that are pricier and meant to have more of a romantic atmosphere. I can see walking up to the counter service part of Beaches & Cream wearing just a bikini & sarong, but I would hope that the sit-down restaurants would have some sort of enforced dress code.
Cheers!

Let's see, our picks for the worst:

Chef Mickey's for dinner
Tony's - Which is sad because it had been one of our faves
ABC Commissary - Gross!
Cape May Clambake -Yuck! I know so many people love this place but we think it is quite possibly some of the worst seafood ever and the rest of the buffet is just as bad.

We definitely did not like the ABC Commissary. The breakfast was lousy. :stir:

We are trying chef mickey's for dinner our first night,,, what didn't you like about it? TIA

We definitely won't be returning to the ABC Commissary. We found the food dry and tasteless.

Alfredos was a disappointment also. The food was just OK, but the portions were small for the money. It's not a place for a nice quiet dinner - tables are too close and the atmosphere too noisy.

We found the atmosphere to be awesome. The characters were great. The food is another story. Horrible. But for as many people who don't like it there are many people who love Chef Mickey's dinner. It is just a matter of opinion. I say give it a try and if you don't like it, don't go back but if you do then you'll be happy you tried it. :goodvibes

Good experience here at tony's. Sitting on the porch during Spectro certainly helped and they didn't rush us and made sure the steps were clear of people. We had the spaghetti which is WAY WAY overpriced but here's a tip...order ONE spaghetti dish and SPLIT it. they don't mind this at all and it's still too much to eat! We both ordered salads AND desserts and the bill (and their tip) is still quite a bit but why pay $16 for a plate of pasta that cost them :stir: $1-2 to make!

I agree with you here... and Donna: "Here we go, Steelers, here we go! Pittsburgh's going to the Super Bowl!" Oh, yeah, baby!

Our worst Dining experience ever was at Marrakesh. A place we used to love.

Biergarten is a close second

There are certain restaurants that we MUST eat at while we are at Disney. Those two are Tony's and LeCellier. We absolutely love  Tony's. We have eaten there every year since 1999. Yes, I agree, it is a bit pricey. We have NEVER had bad food or bad service there. I think the lunch menu has a wider selection than the dinner, and it is not quite as expensive. The panini sandwich is wonderful. :Pinkbounc

Very few times have we eaten somewhere at Disney and not liked it. Alfredo's in Italy is probably the main one. The first time we ate there we really liked it, but the second time was not up to par with the first. Back in 1991 on our honeymoon we went to a restaurant on Pleasure Island called the Fireworks Factory. The cast member at the front desk of the Disney Inn had asked if we had good bar-b-que in TN and we told him that ours was some of the best around. He advised us not to go to the Firework's Factory, but being young and naive :rolleyes1 we did not listen!! It was worse than horrible!! :scared1: I'm glad we have learned to listen to cast members now!! :goodvibes When we went back to Disney in 1993, the Fireworks Factory had closed! Wonder why????? :confused3

Other than those two, we have not had any bad experiences at any Disney restaurants.

NO ONE can top Tennessee BBQ....!!!!! MMMMMMMMM GOOOOOOOOD

I found Teppanyaki a little disappointing - very bland.

I also was disappointed in Akershus. I just didn't like the food. I'm not sure if it is just that I don't like Norwegian food or if it was bad Norwegian food.

I wasn't really crazy about the Brown Derby either. It just didn't live up to the Hype IMO.

Norway Princess For dinner, it was awful, when we made our advanced reservation they said it was buffet, it's not, We were there for our dsughters birthday spent 40 dollars extra for a cake, they brought it to the table when we were in line to see ariel and left it. Server was totally awful. Will never ever go back there!!!!

Based upon past experience, the two worst places to eat at WDW are the Earl of Sanwich at Downtown Disney, followed closely by the Sci-Fi Dine-In at the Disney-MGM Studios.

:headache:

Rose n Crown tops our list followed closely by Rainforest Cafe.:headache:
We were thinking about trying Tony's in December but maybe not :confused3
