Worst Restaurants

Chef Mickey's for dinner: service and character interaction were good, but the food was inedible bland, oily... We could not find anything that was even just ok. We all, including my dds, (4 and 6), left that place still hungry. There are too many other restaurants with better food that offer character interaction to waste any money at Chef Mickey's.

Alfredo's Mushy pasta and mushy shrimp
I was horribly sick for 2 days after eating there, lost 2 days in the parks.
Never, never again!

Whispering Canyon -- honestly the food might have been good but the service was awful and there were children running around screaming and playing. After happily waiting for a half hour for a table and looking forward to it we left after 10 minutes. We still hadn't been brought our drinks, some kids ran under our table to hide when the waiters came clanging through yelling, other kids were playing cowboys and indians with other waiters so they were running around yelling. It was a mess -- definately not a place to go after a long day at the parks.

I am pretty sure the "craziness" is intented. It is part of the atmosphere. WC is not a place to go if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing meal.

TwoPrincesses - I think the Spirit of Aloha show is ok - I would do it if you've never seen it. I'm sure there are lots of people who do like the food. Have fun!

We didn't expect kids that didn't belong to us running under our table getting food and sticky hands all over our pants and shoes and we didn't expect it to be as loud as it was -- I've been to rock concerts that were quieter than it was in there. It might have been a bad night or a bad table but the noise reverberated in that area.

Like I said before, we waited around to get in and were looking forward to it. We saw some of the jokes and stuff going on while we were waiting and were entertained but when we got in there it was a completely different story.

I agree totally! We enjoyed HDDR as well as 50's PT but thought WC was just a mad house with ok food and terrible service.

Tony's used to be good - about 8 years ago - but the last time I went there - about 3 years ago - the food was awful, the service horrible, and the same high prices. I wouldn't go back.

Really don't like Nine Dragons. I can get better Chinese at the take-out place across from my job.

My mom hated 50's Prime Time but to be fair we went once when it first opened so it may have improved.

At Downtown Disney Planet Hollywood is not good. It was a neat idea when it first opened, but the quality of the food is really not worth the price.

Definately Hollywood and Vine. The place was a mess, the food bland, tasteless and in some cases dried out. Next time we want a Fastasmic package, I'll spring for the Brown Derby.

I think the worst meal ever at disney was at sci-fi earlier this month.

I don't eat meat, though I eat seafood, and there were 2 entrees to pick from. I asked the waitress which one and she gushed over the pasta with shrimp. Well, awful doesn't begin to describe it - the cold flavorless pasta with congealed cheese on top, a sauce that seemed to be just grease with no flavor, and the kicker was when I said to dh "this shrimp doesn't taste right, I can't tell if it just because they did not use any seasonings or if it is really bad" I only ate the one and then pushed the plate away. Well good thing I only ate the one, I was in the bathroom at the hotel until 4 AM puking my guts out. If I ate more I probably would have been in the hospital.

Others fall into the "not as good as I hoped but not horrific"
Hollywood & Vine - loud, messy, and generally not that great of food
California Grill - 1 1/2 hour wait with ADR. Overpriced.
Liberty Tavern - Boy was I disappointed. The food was bizzare, meat heaped on a plate?? If you like meat and potatoes, this will be up your alley, otherwise don't bother.

Tony's - I'm another one that used to love it there, and would like to see them do breakfast again, but our last dinner there (Oct '05) was horrible. Food took forever and was cold, potatoes were hard, by the time we got it. Server was nice though. I think it'll be awhile before we go there again.

Planet Hollywood - been there a couple of times. It is just too darn LOUD for me and the service was sooooooo slow both times. Not going back.

Concourse Steakhouse - specifically said "no pink" and got a raw in the middle steak after waiting forever for it. I might give 'em a second chance sometime though.

ABC Commissary - had one yucky meal there and don't plan on ever going back.

Oh yes and Alfredo's in Italy, had the same experience as another poster - our server was quite pleasant, until we declined to order alcohol - then he acted like a total snob. I probably won't go back there unless I'm with someone else that really wants to eat there.

Having said all this there are quite a few WDW restaurants that we've enjoyed. I loved Boma, but I know a lot of people don't like it.

I have heard HORROR stories about Tony's on Main Street in the MK, from bad food to bad service to "way too expensive for spaghetti!" We have been too scared to try it!

We ate at Tony's last year while trying to kill time before leaving Disney, and have to agree that it wasn't a terrific experience. The food was nothing to rave about, to say the least and our server was horrible to boot. This was when the dining plan just started and not everyone was familiar (or comfortable) with it and when my DH ordered an additional cup of coffee, our waiter made such a big deal about how we were going to have to pay extra for it. Needless to say, we won't be going back there this week!

We went to 50's Prime Time when it first opened in 1989. The atmosphere hadn't quite come together yet and the food was rather bland -- the string beans tasted awful. We went back last September and found the food and menu much improved and had a great waiter, "Uncle Tony". You might want to give it another try now.

If you go to Sci-Fi during the busy times, it is awful. If you try for the off-peak times for some reason the food is much better -- maybe because the service has time to improve and can get it out to you faster. My 2 teenagers go there on their own almost every visit.

Akershus... This was back in 2000 when it was still the full buffet. I have to say the service was great, and the coffee some of the best we've ever had. However neither DH or I enjoyed the food. We both love trying new/different/ethnic foods but to me everything had a strange taste to it. I've pretty much narrowed it down to they use a lot of caraway seed. DH doesn't like vinegar/lemon juice in his foods and everything seemed to have that flavor too. Luckily our usually adventureous DS ordered a kids meal that was huge and pretty good.


Chef Mickeys..... Food was horrible, cold bland and over cooked.Service was practically non existant. He never cleared away dirty dishes or refilled drinks. Character interaction-we were ignorred for over an hr. We saw the charcters visit the otehr areas of the restaurant several times, but they seemed to not know that there were tables/people in the room behind the buffet. Which of course there are window looking onto the main diningroom, so I don't know how they couldn't know the room was packed full. Eventually the server for another table showed up and they asked him why the characters wouldn't visit us. He went and told the handlers and the character came.

Oh...I forgot to mention on my earlier post, that we ate at the Brown Derby at MGM and it was really good! They have the best Cobb salad that I have ever had. The way the food looked (i guess you would say the presentation of the food was very fancy) when they brought it out on the square white dinner plate it looked so gourmet. I took pictures of it! I was so impressed. My husband teased me about doing that...but I had to show everyone at home how classy this place was! LOL!!!

I've never had a terrible meal anywhere at WDW but I was less than impressed with:

Teppanaki (we can get much better Japanese food here at home)
'Ohana (didn't live up to all the hype)
Cape May Cafe (but then I'm not a fan of buffets)
Le Cellier (DH liked it though...I'm not a meat eater so maybe that's why)
Marrakesh (it was ok, but I thought the food was a bit bland..I think I was expecting it to be spicier and more flavorful)
Rainforest Cafe (ick, ick, ick)

I would have to say the Concourse Steakhouse way over priced and the food was ok. Location is great. A close second is Pizza Planet at MGM. Long lines and cardboard pizza

Sadly, It has become apparent that we are just not very discirminating diners!

All of our favorites have made this list: Crystal Palace, Beaches and Cream, Biergarten, Hollywood and Vine, Mama Melrose's, Rose and Crown, Mexico, etc.

I guess the advantage of being easy to please is that we always have what we consider a great meal.

I wasn't too impressed with San Angel Inn and found Cantina de San Angel (is that the name?) to be terrible!!!!! The food was cold, we got the nachos which was basically just chips and a very small amount of beans and cheese. Not worth it.

My meal there was so bad they didn't even charge me for it. And I didn't complain! If it's so bad they take off for it without you saying a word that's a pretty good indication that things are not good.

Another good indication is that they changed it to 1 credit. I just don't want people to be misled into the idea that this place is unbelievable. (Coral Reef)
