Worst Restaurants

Worst for us was Princess Bkfst. @ Norway...food was cold and sort of stale when it finally made it to our table ...the folks at the next table (dad, mom and 2 little girls) were also so upset and he voiced it rather loudly...so much so that the manager gave them their meal free. Looking back we should have told them that we were not happy with it either + the characters were having a difficult time getting around to everyone.(I really think someone REALLY overbooked that morning)......The BESTfor us was The Rose and Crown (epcot) we got PS around 8 p.m. and sat on the terrace area....and one of the waitresses ask DD (4 at the time) would she like to "wave the magic wans" that would start the Illuminations show. She LOVED that! The food was really good and the service was wonderful! :wizard:

#1 Tony's. Bad food AND too expensive. Two salads, pops, spaghetti dinners, and desserts = $78.57.

#2 Donald's Breakfastosaurus -- OK food, just too disorganized and staff is on the rude side.

#3 Alfredo's -- Mediocre food, way too crowded, overpriced.

I really like San Angel Inn. I've never had poor service, and actually love the food and atmosphere.

For us the worst restaurants were Sci Fi Dine In - poor food, and truly appalling service, and California Grill - food was just OK but service was the worst we've ever had. I would NEVER go there again.

I have to agree. We've been to lots of Japanese steakhouses and Teppanyaki was the worst ever. I had chicken which was overcooked and very tough. Our chef was not very friendly either. And the price! Ouch. What a waste of money.

Our experience there was OK - certainly not worth the higher prices

First of all, I think all the food at Disney is too expensive! :) I wouldn't actually say that there's a bad resturant, just bad food options. I ate at Le Cellier and had the softshell crab sandwich. It was HORRIBLE! It felt like it was breaded in salt. Other than that, I think the places I ate were great!

I would have to say that Trail's End is on my stay-away from list, which is a shame since we usually stay in a cabin. The first time we went was the worst; the buffet only had half the items it should have. The second time, which I went to reluctantly but we were coming back from the park, I was with my dad, and everybody was hungry. It wasn't as bad, but still not great... they just don't have a large buffet. At least the service wasn't bad the second time, but how hard is it to provide service at a buffet? (pretty hard apparently from other buffet experiences).

The last time we went, which was earlier this month, we went to the Rose & Crown and it was absolutely the worst!! We were seated near the entrance, which is a horrible place to be seated; its noisy and you can't see anything but the plastic tarp that hangs over the edge. We were seated next to a couple with an about 7 year old boy. They didn't order him anything to eat and let him run around like an idiot. He actually ran into me once and they were completely oblivoius. Are all Europeans like that? I don't know.

My wife ordered a soup. When our entrees came out, about 30 minutes later, they said the soup would be right out. A while later the waitress came by to say they were making a new batch. It never showed up. Then THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR IT! :furious: I ordered a steak and it showed up well done, instead of medium. Do they even really write down how you want your steak or do they just burn everybody's to a crisp?

My first experience there was magical. It was New Years Eve a couple of years ago outside with a perfect view of the fireworks show. But this was
just a joke. Probably won't go back.

What recourse do you have if the service and food is crap? For what one pays, I expect more from the experience.

Our least favorite is Alfredos in Italy. Been there twice- each time had the pasta and it was downright mushad. First time we chalked it up to a 9:15 PS- second time it was 6:30- no excuse. The calamari was very "chewy" when we had it although everyone's main entrees were decent- but not wonderful. Also- both times we went there the service staff were horrid to us- 1st time the waiter told us that mushy pasta is the way homemade pasta is and never even offered to exchange ours (tere were 8 of us), the second time the waiter totally ignored my niece's birthday when I told him about it. Very disappointing...

This is the only place yet we have not liked in Disney. :confused3

I agree with the breakfast comment. We used to take our 3 oldest kids to Tonys for breakfast the first morning of each trip. Our youngest has never experienced it. What a shame. Although I found the breakfast to be a bit over priced, it was worth the atmosphere. We found the breakfast food to be satisfactory. We still have the sovenier kids menus from those days. Truly nice memories. I vote for bringing back the breakfast at Tonys. Does anyone know why they stopped it? We asked a CM once and was told they stopped it after 9/11 for security reasons. ...??? Sounds odd to us. Anyone know if this is true?
I also mourn the loss of the breakfast at Tony's. I remember when it went away, and it did have to do with 9/11, although not for a security reason. In the months after 9/11, the entire tourism industry had an enormous slump, including WDW. There were so few customers that lots of things there got shut down, at least for a while, although most of them eventually came back (Flame Tree Barbecue at AK is an example). Tony's breakfast, however, was a permanent casualty. I don't think there's much chance we'll see it come back, because they now use Tony's for the special Grand Gatherings breakfasts. It's really a shame - Tony's was the only non-character sit down breakfast available at the MK, and it is sorely missed!

I have never been a big fan of the Rose and Crown's food... I think it is ok, but then british food is a bit bland for my tastes. However, I do like the ambiance of Rose and Crown... AND probably the best place to drink at Disney... anytime we decided to drink around the world

My worst Disney place... McDONALDS! Why, oh why would one want to go to a McDonald's while at Disney with all the good counterservice and table service meals. If that is all you can afford, then I understand, but to choose that over others... just doesn't make sense to me. I have heard the EASIER FOR THE KIDS argument... to that I say, its DISNEY... Broaden their horizons.

One place sticks out in my mind. Tomorrow Land Terrace Noodle Station. YUCK!

I'm noticing a lot of people don't like the Tomorrowland Noodle Station. I ate there right after the opened and thought they were great--I had a huge portion of some of the best pad Thai I've ever had. Have they changed for the worse or is it just that no one here likes oriental noodle dishes?

We thought it was ok as well - not as good as the small "authentic" noodle houses in your local city but still passable

Cheers

The Sci-Fi has great food and great atmosphere. It may be a little over priced, but we love it and go often when we are at WDW. :woohoo:

You are right there - even the British prefer something else ;) - way overpriced too.

For me, Mama Melrose was a let down - poor service and I think I probably chose the wrong meal for me but DH and DD quite liked it. We've also had poor service at a few other places - H&V, Chef Mickey's and Boatwrights - funny how bad service can taint your view of a restaurant - we'd no doubt go back to any of these (and hope for a different server).

Also funny how some of my favorites are included in the 'love to hates' - we loved Sci Fi, Brown Derby and Breafastasaurus and we go to Columbia HH every single trip.

Just a note: On the few buffets we ate at... Cape May and Boma's... we saw them rotate out serving utensils several times.

I agree on the unsupervised kids though. We NEVER eat buffets at home (maybe CiCi's once a year) but my children have be told every time we go to a buffet at Disney what is expected of them. I had to correct my own child a couple of times as I saw her munching on items as she walked back to her seat. :)

Good for you!!!

I am trying to be really conscious about it with my two boys too. It's not the kids' fault - the only way they learn is if they are shown/told what is acceptable and what is not :) !

Breakfast at Spoodles (Had french toast. It just tasted/smelled different.) and Boma's dinner (except for the desserts!). Didn't care for the different taste/spices. Boma's breakfast buffet was like any other breakfast buffet. Everyone raved about the frunch. It was ok, nothing special.

I went in Nov. and I liked it. I also like it because the portions were big, so I ate from my husband's soup and my daughters' as well. It wasn't extraordinary but i don't think it was horrible.

The food at the Spirit of Aloha dinner show is awful! I ask the server for a kids meal - peanut butter and jelly sandwich is at least edible.
