Worst restaurants in WDW?

Always love reading about the YUCKY places. I have a few I won't return to. I was not crazy about what they offered. Sci-Fi and Hollywood & Vine. Also Germany.

I think MGM is kind of a wasteland for eating. I liked The Brown Derby but hated the 50s Prime time, Sci Fi and especially Mama Melrose.

I'm so glad that we all have such different tastes...keeps things interesting! :D

Some of my faves, others hated. Some I hated, others raved about. LOL That's life...isn't it grand? :Pinkbounc

The worst food experience we have had was at Hollywood & Vine in May of this year. The food was not as good as other restaurants we ate-including Ohana(our favorite), Marrakesh, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Crystal Palace. The service was worse than the food at Hollywood & Vine. We will be going back in September & have PS's at Boma, & Ohana for a character breakfast.
When making PS's, I ask the person assisting me what their opinion is of the restaurant. I have also said that I would like to do a character breakfast & what they would suggest. They will remind you that we have to decide of course, but they will share their opinion if you ask (well, almost everyone).:hyper:

We were in the fan club that loved Akershus, but then the bottom line came into the equation and now we have to order each hot entree one at a time and you wait and wait. You eat the cold salad that is OK, but its not really what you came there for. They really made the buffet the worst at WDW. Hope they bring back the old Akershus that was fun and plenty of good food.

There are only 2 that I would not return to:

Crystal Palace is the first one on my list. Even if you paid me I would not go there. We went on our first trip to WDW (1998) and the food was cold, didn't even look warm, and the service was awful. By the time the characters got anywhere near us, an hour and a half had gone by. We had to sit around and wait for them since we couldn't eat our cold food- BLECH! Nt to mention we had to wait 45 minutes WITH a priority seating. We now eat at Liberty Tree Tavern or Columbia Harbor House for counter service while at MK.

Second one is Fulton's Crab House at DD. We went there for Mother's Day also in 98 and the service was slow, the food was way overpriced and it just was NOT good!

On the other hand, we LOVE:
Chef mickey's
Donald's Breakfastasaurus
Sci Fi (we really go for the atmosphere but find the food more than edible)
Hollywood and Vine (we went here for the first time without a PS in Dec 2002 (We loved it and had a very sweet waitress)
Ohanas

We were thinking of trying Alfredo's on this next trip, but maybe not!

oh, add me to the list of "no's" for Alfredos!

DH and i went there alone a couple years back hoping for a romantic dinner...it was the least romantic restaurant i've ever been in LOL. too close tables, lighting was too bright, food...was awful. I mean, an italian place where you can't just order spaghetti with marinara sauce? i had some slimy chicken thing that I didn't like at all, and it was way expensive.

For my money, chef's de france wins, hands down. Their beef filet is just incredible, and i love the hot fudge creampuffs dessert! mmmmm. getting hungry LOL

here's our list of WDW "never-agains" in no particular order:

San Angel Inn-god awful food
Germany- same reason
Cape May Clambake-way overpriced for low quality seafood
TOny's at MK
Hollywood and Vine

The only restaurant on the property that is an absolute 'NEVER AGAIN' (after 3 horrendous experiences over the years) is Fulton's Crap, err Crab House.

On the other hand, we make a point of eating at San Angel Inn every trip, love the food and the atmosphere. We also love the widely varied and unusual flavor combinations at Boma and Jiko and eat at one or the other each trip. Also, we love Narcoossee's, and didn't think twice about paying $25 for 4 sea scallops; after Minnesota seafood prices, that didn't seem too outrageous at all! :)

We're also going to nominate Chef Mickey's as the worst. We love it when it was a "proper" restaurant at Downtown Disney but hate it at the Contemporary. It's always so messy and disorganised, VERY loud too. We also dislike Sci Fi Dine-In..the food takes far too long...well over an hour a couple of times, is usually cold and the servers very lack lustre.

Chef Mickey's is one of our favorites and the buffet is always so nice and organized. Maybe that's been our experience b/c we eat early dinners. *shrug* Don't know but either way...the kids and I love it there! :D

Our worst experience was at the Garden Grill at the Land. Have been other years and had a great meal, but last December it was terrible. The turkey, or was it chicken, tasted like sliced deli meat and the beef was cold. Nothing was appetizing except the salad. The characters were great though, but the food will definitely keep us from going back next month.

Dec 27th, 2002 my then Dboyfriend and former high school sweetheart are on our first WDW trip with my 2 DS's. My father had just returned home from five days with us and I had noticed my DF and Dboyfriend talking quielty a lot. That night we went to Chef Mickey's my Dboyfriend on:cloud9: getting to see Santa Goofy. When dinner is over he and my sons talk my into looking at the view from the wedding pavilion at the GF. Next thing I know he pops the question. The night couldn't be more perfect. Fast forward 24 hrs and my 2 DS's and I are being rushed to the hospital where we were diagnosed with the Norwalk virus. Where did we get it? CHEF MICKEY'S where cruise passengers brought it ashore. After my now Dfiance' spend the entire night cleaning the most vile stuff coming from both ends of my sons while I lay past out on the hospital bed next to them. We extended the trip and on our last day my youngest DS is telling our story to a fellow bus passenger ending with "we figure he must really want to be our dad and love us cause if he didn't leave after all this nothing is gonna make him go"

beautiful story (well except the getting sick part LOL) I love what your youngest DS said at the end.

Worst overall : Nine Dragons...really expected something different

Okay, but terribly overrated :
Alfredo's- pales next to Palio's
Nine Dragons - nothing special, no better than takeout at home
Big River Brewing - nothing special, like an Applebee's
Crystal Palace - lousy buffet
San Angel Inn -
was fantastic when we went in 1997, lousy in 2000
Cinderella's Royal Table - okay, we always go here for the atmosphere, but the food is so-so

Places we always go for atmosphere, but food is nothing special:
Cinderella's Royal Table (L)
Sci Fi (L)
Rainforest Cafe (L)
Fultons's Crab House (L)
Tony's Town Square (L)

Places we go because we like the food :
V&A (D)
Flying Fish(D)
Yachtsman (D)
Artist Point (D)
Coral Reef (L)
Brown Derby (D)

Places we're trying this trip...any advice?
Spoodles (D)
Narcoose's (D)
California Grill (D)
Jiko (D)
LeCellier (L)
1900 Park Faire (B)
Kone Cafe (B)

Ok our worst experience was hands down in 1993 at the "abc comissary" I still remember that god awful food although in recent years we have had bad food at Alfredos as well, absolutely overpriced, I get a better bang for my buck at our local Olive garden LOL!

On the other hand the best meals we have had were at "Wolfgang puck" in Downtown Disney (awesome orance iced tea!!) and best theme park specific restaurant was the Liberty tree tavern in the MK, great food, scenery and character interaction. I also love the Hoop de Du and the Luau dinner shows particularly for the coconut bread at the Luau!! yummy!!!

Some other family favorites are the Crystal Palace, hisperign Canyon and the Sci fi for the atmospehere only though!!! DF's is the garden grille, which I must admit i like as well, waiting for the verdict from dd in a few weeks!!!

lecellier lunch was great ( got the strip steak and the potatoes were a little over done( wrinkled!) but other wise everything was good. the salmon patties and choc. bread pudding ( don't think either are still on the menu) were both exceptional
kona breakfast :very long wait in Jan. . we did not have ps( waited about 40 mins) but even those with ps were waiting 20-30 +mins to get seated. food fine but nothing special, had better results in the past we thought.didn't spring for the 100% Kona due to not thinking the Kenyan was worth it at Boma ( usually I like Kona coffee but hub didn't want to go for it) the kona blend was ok.

WOrst restaurant in WDW: got to be Rainforest Cafe, any location. Huge piles of horrible food in gloppy, unimaginative sauces. Yuk. Poor service too. Nice atmosphere and gift shop, but no other reason to go there.
