Worst restaurants in WDW?

Has anyplace made me sick??? YES!!!

Cap'n Jack's at DTD. The table right next to the water was nice enough, but not the 3 days of you-know-what that came with the meal. :( It really ruined the trip for me, and my hubby and son who had to put up with my frequent bathroom breaks!

On a side note, I'm sorry to hear so many bad reviews of San Angel. We always went in the early to mid-90's and always enjoyed it. Even as recently as '99 we had a decent meal there, but hadn't been back since (the addition of picky/restless children to our family has made our meals a little more run of the mill). It's too bad, it used to be a good place.

Also, for all the people who don't like Boma, a lot of people love it (myself included).

Cape May Clam Bake, YUCK YUCK YUCK, they called the little turds shrimp, they we real small and not devainded...the buffet table looked like a young child had prepared everything then set it all up buffet style...I think you get the point, it S***ED!:D

Backlot Express. I know its just counter service

Really not that bad. I won't say "I'll never go back", however its just nothing special. Slightly overpriced, ordinary food in an unthemed (or purposely underthemed) setting. Food quality ok, but its hard to screw up burgers and dogs.

All-in-all my WDW dining has been highly pleasurable. Backlot Express was simply ordinary.

San Angel Inn IS my favorite restaurant anywhere. I like the dark atmosphere - it feels like a Mexican Festival after dusk. The music is romantic and the volcano is unforgettable. I cannot stand Taco Bell, but I love this food and the wines.

I've never been to Chef Mickey's, but I was hoping to make a dinner PS there as the very first think we do on our upcoming October trip (two hours after our plane lands). I was hoping it would be a good way to introduce my 5 year old to his first WDW trip. Perhaps some of you can comment...the food will not be a priority for the 5 yr old, but my wife and older daughter will be hungry - and we've never been to the Contemporary.

Pretty amazing-the wide range of opinions on this post. Our least favorites were

Coral Reef-very overpriced. Wouldn't make it here or in New Orleans

Whispering Canyon-just though it was only so-so. Our texas barbeque is much better

Breakfastsourus-least favorite of the character meals, but not wild about Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park. Cindy's has great atmosphere, but food is not too great.

As to some that have gotten ripped here:

We've always liked Akershus-thought the way it used to be was better

San Angel Inn-what great atmosphere. Food isn't that bad.

Ohana's-really really enjoyed dinner there at our last trip

Boma-enjoyed this greatly-what variety

The worst restaurants we have been to are Yakitori House, Sci-Fi, and Mama Melrose's. At Sci-Fi, my son couldn't eat his dinner of BBQ ribs because they were so fatty. The chicken at Yakitori had a really weird (bad weird) taste to it. At MM, I had a pizza that tasted like alpo was on it and it made me sick later. Disney has so many other really good places to eat that have never disappointed us-such as Teppanyaki and Le Cellier.

I guess what I've learned from this topic is that we are all different and have a huge variety of tastes! Thank goodness Disney can accomodate almost all of us! :earsboy:

Le Cellier was way over-rated. Noisy, long wait even with a PS, tough steak, even their Creme Brulee was nothing special.

Alfredo's - we've tried it twice, overpriced, snobby waiters, cold food, tables too close together.

CRT for dinner. Just not good, the Prime Rib didn't resemble any Prime Rib I've ever enjoyed. And how can you eat Prime Rib without a glass of red wine?

We're trying to figure out a place to eat at MGM, sounds like there are no good choices! DD wants to see Sci-Fi, and she loves milkshakes, so that might be a hit. But I was figuring we would order hamburgers, and now that doesn't sound like a good idea!

PSB- we have yet to have a hot "cooked" meal here and keep going back (because of the princesses), but we keep thinking it'll be better the next time because so many keep saying it's good--maybe they see us and say "let's bring out the leftovers, it's 'them' again!!"...LOL

CM- been there a few times for dinner and think it's over rated, not terrible but certainly can stand room for improvement, but the characters are pretty fun (if you're seated in the right place) - we're gonna try breakfast there next trip

CRT - maybe we've been lucky enough to eat with the princesses so many times that we're sick of the food (the eggs and french toast thing drenched in the blueberry sauce), however the last time we were there I did discover the yogurt and granola alternative and IMHO I was actually very impressed with that! Wish they had it at PSB!

I got food poisoning at Tempura Kiku at Japan once -- and once is enough for me. Not that it would ever happen again. I just don't have a very warm fuzzy memory of the dining experience!:D

It's all about individual tastes -- I think the buffets at Germany and Norway are really worth the $$ but the ones at Chef Mickeys and Crystal palace are a big waste of $$$. Go figure -- many disagree with me!:confused3 (Imagine that!!!)

San Angel Inn--Overpriced taco bell to me. Too dark. So many better choices in WS. We've eaten there twice and neither my husband nor I liked our meal either time, but my brother-in-law loves it.

I agree...I don't mind the atmosphere so much, although it is too dark, however the food is definitely mediocre. YOu get a much better bang for your buck at the cantina.

The only terrible meal (inedible) that I've had at Disney was the counter service ABC Commissary.

I don't especially care for Akershus, Big River Brewery (is that the right name?) at Boardwalk.

We tried San Angel Inn on Thanksgiving and didn't care for it but I think I wouldn't like a lot of the special Thanksgiving menus.

I can't remember the name of the restaurant in Morocco but we didn't enjoy it, mainly because of several obnoxious drunks and the young waiters and waitresses didn't know how to deal with them. I do like their Tangerine counter service though.

Big River Grille on the Boardwalk - terrible service - terrible beer - terrible food. The burgers at ESPN are better - the beer is better and usually the service is better.

In our only two trips at WDW, we ate at alot of places....my least favorite is Marrakesh. We were ignored by the staff after some obvious big wigs of some sort were seated, the food was NOT good. Completely overrated in my not so humble opinion!

Although the food at CP was wonderful at dinner, I got SICK for two days. Body aches, constant vomiting (I saw more of the Epcot toilets that I ever bargained for!) I called CP the day after eating dinner there and asked if they had any other reported problems, to which the answer was "absolutely NOT!" I still wonder what it was...my cousin is a CM there and had said lots of people had the flu, but this was unlike any flu I have had!

I'll eat breakfast at CP in a heartbeat, but you will never see me there for dinner again.

I didn't think I had too many that I didn't like, but this thread made me think. This is great, I'll be making PS's soon.

My DH loved Alfredo's, I hated it. Overpriced, crowded together, too noisy. I ordered a sampler of 3-4 different pastas, and hated the spices in all of them. I couldn't wait to get out of there. DS hated it too.

Crystal Palace: We were there in 97, food was terrible, cold and totally uninspiring. We've never been back.

Also 97, the character breakfast at Fulton's Crab house. I think now they stick to seafood.

It's funny, there's some places we should have given a second chance to since maybe it was an off night or a bad server. But we have several favorites including WCC, Liberty Tree Tavern and Le Cellier and also like to try new ones.

Yuck-a-tori House. Blech

I know I'm in the minority on this one. Flying Fish. Maybe the chef had a bad night. Maybe the service that night was really slow. For the money they charged, it was NOT worth it. My husband never let me live it down that we didn't go back to Emeril's that night. Our meal was lousy.

Thanks for all the posts! Any more bad reviews? With so many restaurants to choose from, it's great to hear opinions from everyone here! :)

1) San Angel Inn. The first time in the late '80's was pure magic, and it has gone steadily downhill since then. Chi-Chi's with a volcano.

LOL! This is so much more to the point than comparing it with Taco Bell, which has no pretenses and actually isn't too bad for fast food (if you know what to order). Chi-Chi's on the other hand pretends to be a Mexican RESTAURANT and doesn't even come close.

We've been very fortunate ourselves to have not had any really bad experiences. The worst was probably Pure & Simple last Dec. Clearly the Gods are on our side; they quickly closed down the entire Wonders of Life Pavilion in revenge! I will miss some things in there, but Pure & Simple is not one of them!

We didn't care for Big River Grille...very slow service and the food was nothing to write home about (and very overpriced). We won't be going back there.

We hated Planet Hollywood at DTD. Too small & crowded...music was much too loud...and the food wasn't that great for the price that we paid there.

We tried Shutters at CBR on our first night and were not impressed by the food or the servers. The food was the same things that they were serving in the food court for a lot more $$$.

We did like Prime Time, Hollywood & Vine, Chef Mickey's (breakfast), Crystal Palace (breakfast) and Biergarten (Germany).

We didn't enjoy San Angel Inn food what not what we expected,

the only thing there liked was the appetizer.

Fultons way too much money for lukewarm food.

Hollywood and Vine Aweful and are waitress was so rude!!!

We loved LeCellier, Chef Mickey's(breakfast),Norway breakfast, Liberty Tree Tavern, Kona cafe
