Wondering if anyone knows which month would have the highest likelyhood of having CC canceld? Will probably go somewhere btw Nov and Mar as we want a break from our Canadian winter. Of those months which would be the best month to go? Least rain/wind?

HI, WE WERE ON THE FEB 27 WONDER CRUISE THIS YEAR AND MISSED CASTAWAY CAY BOTH DAYS. VERY DISAPPOINTING-ALSO VERY WINDY AND CHILLY-WE HAVE BOOKED ANOTHER DISNEY WONDER CRUISE - BUT THIS TIME GOING IN JULY 2006. I WOULD NOT CHOOSE FEB AGAIN. HAVE FUN. :Pinkbounc

Based on what's been reported here, September is statistically the worst month for missing Castaway Cay. BUT...that is heavily affected by last fall's hurricane season, during which three different storms hit the Atlantic coast of Florida (and the Bahamas), and due to island damage, there were several cruises which did not even attempt to dock. If you take away last year, the ships are 30-31 in successfully docking in September. I would not hesitate to cruise in September, even considering these numbers. In fact, we are sailing on the 10th this year.

Besides September, the worst month is February, with an 88% success rate, followed by December (92%), January (94%), and October (95%). Overall, the ships are able to dock around 95% of the time. I guess if this is a big concern to you, then avoid February. I personally wouldn't let these numbers decide my vacation date, if February fit my schedule and price range. 88% is still very good odds, I think. Both ships did miss once this year in February, but the Magic also docked 3 times, the Wonder 5.

Hope this helps.

Knowing what it's like having to deal with the wonderful Canadian winters, we were on the Wonder March 13th (4 days). It was amazing. We had beautiful weather all 4 days, sunny blue skies all day at C.C. Nice warm days and comfortable cool nights, very enjoyable for the first ever fireworks on Pirate Night. :cheer2:

The only time we had rain was on Thursday when we docked back at port in Florida.

We enjoyed it so much we have re-booked for the same time next year.

Lloyd dobler- Thanks for the stats:) Where do you find these?

Anyone have any stats on percipitation for thses months as well?

Hi there,

We cruised in the 1st week of November before the American Thanksgiving week and had wonderful weather, and no problems with docking at CC. The theme parks were in their low season and we had no large crowds/ or long waits to deal with at all. It was still warm enough that we enjoyed the water parks, and all the water excursions on the cruise.

Have fun planning,

Marty Jay

Okay I understand weather conditions in the fall in the height of hurricane season. But why would theyhave trouble docking in febuary, is it due to weather conditions too? I have to admit one of my favorite things to do the morning we arrive at CC is to watch the precise orangization of the crew unloading all the nessasary items from to ship to the island. It's pretty cool to watch.

I am going on my next cruise in August I hope for great weather. Knock on wood every sailing I made it to CC and only seemedto have rain once in Port Canaveral and I also hit some pretty rough waters leaving Grand Caymon but otherthan that all has been well weather wise.

masterrocks - The stats are compiled from the trip reports posted here on the boards. They're not complete, but represent about 75% of the cruises since the beginning of 2002, and about 50% of all Magic and Wonder sailings.

We have had 6 Feb/March cruises on the Magic, and have ALWAYS docked at Castaway Cay. Only one visit was a dull, chilly day - so dont be put off going at that time of year. Crew will tell you that it is only a very small percentage of times that the ship hasnt docked there:sadly some people have cruised twice and been very unlucky to miss CC both times.

Personally, we dont judge the whole cruise by whether or not we get to CC. I know it is a highlight of some guests' trip, but there are way more beautiful places to visit than this island. St. John (Eastern) is paradise! Any cruise is subject to the weather, and all cruise-lines advise you that itineries are subject to change. If you are desperate for a beach holiday, then chose a resort, not a cruise. No captain can guarantee docking at CC, or any other port: Disney may be able to work some miracles, but sometimes God has the upper hand!Nat :cool1:
