worst experience at disney?

I can remember everything about that morning in really clear detail, like I have it recorded in my brain.

Epcot was the Early Entry park for the day. We rode Test Track, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Imagination, Living with the Land and saw Food Rocks (in that order). Then we had an early lunch at the Garden Grill. When we left, we noticed that World Showcase should have been open, but wasn't. The Canadian castmembers were standing, holding a rope, barring people from entering the area. We asked a couple people why things were held up, but no one seemed to know. We meandered over to MouseGear. I bought a t-shirt and a tin of Minnie Mints (my meal wasn't sitting well with me).

We went back to where the ropes were being held. The girls holding the ropes had no idea why there were to block people from coming in either. They were told there was a "security issue." Then a voice comes over the loudspeakers, telling us all that Epcot would be closed for the day due to security issues. All tickets used on this day would still be valid for another visit.

Some people seemed angry. Most of us were just confused. We all just turned around and left as castmembers guided us all out of the park. Each bus stop had at least three buses waiting to take us back to our hotel. We asked the driver is we would be able to get to another park. All I remember her saying is "No."

Got off the bus at All-Star Music, still not knowing what in the world had happened. People were crying everywhere. The food court was packed. Finally, at 2:00 in the afternoon, we got back to our room and turned on the television......

On September 12th the parks were opened again. We had to add three days to our trip (at a hugely discounted rate) in order to get a flight home. It is still my longest Disney trip. And the saddest. And the weirdest.

I still have the bag with the tshirt and mints I bought that day. They are sitting on a shelf in my hall closet. I don't think I ever opened it.

:sad1: I think in 161 posts, this would rank as the worst trip to Disney...or at least the saddest!

My husband and I were waiting for the parade at MK and next to two horrible kids. One of them had an accident, reached in her pants to check and proceded to wipe her poo-covered hands on my husbands shorts!!!!

I instantly start gagging - the smell. My husband takes off his shorts immediately - thank god he wears boxers!

Bought a new pair of shorts and we were good the rest of the day.... the mother never even apologized.

As the mother of a toddler, stories like this make me so mad! I am so careful in public to make sure my child isn't offending, hurting, bothering or outright annoying another individual that is trying to have a good time. Restaurants, Target, you name it. If she's not on her best behavior we leave, and if she's done something to someone else, she and I both apologize profusely. I am so sorry this happened to you and DH!

My worst was the last time we stayed off property. MY DW and I went to get in our rented Camaro and it had been stolen. Half a day wasted with the police and then the rent-a-car place. They even wanted to give me the same car again. I just looked at her and said i wasn't interested in keeping the local car thieves in business.

:scared1: Oh no! I hope you didn't tell her about Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy too! *HUGS AND COMFORT!* That's one of the reason's we're excited about taking our DD3. Everyone says we're crazy, but she's at that perfect age where she doesn't logically KNOW that someone could possibly be dressed up as Mickey Mouse! When she meets Stitch she may pass out lol.

Thanks, I blew it just by talking to my DS17. He used to be obsessed with Toy Story so in MGM I pointed out some of the characters to him. This is basically what I said:
"Look over there, see the army men."
"What do you mean?"
"You know, guys in the army?"
"Wait, like in uniform?"
"No, just dressed up ones, from Toy Story."
Slipped right out. A bunch of other kids heard me, too.

Then the big question came from my DD. She's very quick to question so she already knew about mall Santas being Santa's "helpers".

"What do you mean dressed up? Are they not real like the Santa in the mall?"

Luckily she still believes in Santa, the Easter Bunny, etc. We were able to slavage her belief by just saying that they're real but are magic; you can never see them, they're not the real ones if you can. As for the disney characters, they're only real to her in the movies now, she thinks they live in another world, Toontown (thank you Roger Rabbit).

As we walked from Adventureland to Fantasyland, we noticed many gay couples lined up at the back wall making out. In the Peter Pan ride, one male had a visible tattoo depicting a... (I'm not even sure how to word this...) let's just say a well-used sexual partner. Another female had a tattoo of a scantily-clad women with her breast showing. The t-shirts were not any better. One read, "Spitters are Quitters". There were isolated either. There were hundreds of displays such as these.

Do they have that in a women's small? Wife's birthday is coming up, and I just found her gift.

We had a "Grand Gathering" last February with my parents, my brother and his family, and my family (12 of us in all.) We were at Animal Kingdom and had fast passes for Everest in about 2 hours. To kill some time, we let the kids go play in the Boneyard. After about 15 minutes of running around, my 2.5 year old goes down the big twisty slide with his sister and breaks his femur! :scared1:

We started at Urgent Care, thinking he just tweaked his leg. Upon discovering the break, we were transferred to a hospital. Unfortunately, they didn't have a pediatric orthopedist on call, so we had to be transferred to another hospital! Three days later, My son, wife and I rejoined the rest of the "Grand Gathering" in time to hop on the magic express and head off to the airport.

Three months later, he was finally out of his cast and is pretty much back to normal!

Aw, poor baby. :( I feel his pain. I'm recovering from a broken tib/fib right now. I fell down stairs in EPCOT. I hope y'all get to go back soon and have a much better trip.

Wow...your post actually gave me chill bumps. :sad2:

I think a lot of people still recall that day...as I read your post and got to the end I could feel my own stunned numbness and fear coming back to me:sad1:

Wow, I have goose bumps. I can't imagine what it would have been like to be away from home during that day.

Worst Vacation? The one I just got home from yesterday. I broke my leg in EPCOT last Monday, had surgery Wednesday, released from the hospital Thursday, drove home Saturday and Sunday.

:grouphug: How did you break your leg in Epcot?

June 07 trip to WDW. On our 2nd day of vacation this giant ball appeared on my foot-from intense heat and all the walking. :scared1: I got a giant blister on my foot! I could barely walk for the rest of our trip. Spent most of my time soaking my foot in the hot tub. Got it bandaged at Med Center in Epcot but that still didn't help much. I did break down and buy a pair of Disney crocs. I was so glad we had nonexp tickets because we only ended up using 4 of our 7 days. It was not a magical time!

This incident could have been much worse!

We decided to return to POR after a few years where they decided to upgrade us to SSR. Unfortunately, when we arrived at SSR, we had to wait in a ginormous line again. We finally got to our room, opened the door, but it was messy with someone else's suitcases etc. inside. My husband bravely walked into the room (praying that no one would be in there) and called the front desk explaining the situation and requesting a different room with transport to it. While we were waiting, the family who was still occupying the room returned from the pool and were unable to open their door. I felt somewhat ridiculous offering to open their room for them with my key. When our ride finally arrived (45 minutes later), we were able to change to go to BB 3 hours later than originally planned, fortunately it wasn't too crowded and we were able to get in. BTW, our suitcases did not find us until we called 3 times looking for them making us late to dinner, too. So not a great first day, but at least we didn't walk in on anyone in a compromising position!

It's easy to think of my worst experience, it was last year after the MNSSHP I attended. I was on my way back to Pop with about a dozen other people, when the bus we were on caught on fire. It was a small fire, probably electrical, but the bus got very smoky, and the driver didn't want to let us off. We ended up having to get off by the side of the road, in a nasty swampy area, and no one liked that. The real kicker is that the bus alarm started going off as soon as we pulled out of MK, so he, (the driver,) could of let us off there, but instead he drove for at least five minutes while the alarm was going off.

Wow, you guys have had some bad times! I'm lucky that our times have been good. A few rude people is about the worst it has been.

We have only been to disney once so far and it was a great trip except one day while standing in line for Dumbo my 3 yr old daughter kept licking the chain, I know eeeeewwww! But she thought my reaction was funny apparently and everytime I turned around she was doing it again. I said do you realise your licking poop, your going to get sick! SHe finally stopped and we continued to have a great time. That night she woke up vomiting with 104 degree fever and basically just slept and threw up for the next 48 hours. Thankfully she was fine and she learned a great lesson about germs, which she remembers till this day!
