worst experience at disney?

Its what you make of it.

Our Sept 2001 trip could have easily been declared a disaster. The week included: 9/11, Tropical Storm Gabrielle (later hurricane), park/dining/transportation closures, cancelled flights, Amtrak flooding so that option was out, daily unknows.....you get the idea. We ended up leaving 2 days early because we decided to drive home to MA. My DH really wanted to get back since he's military and his unit was activated.

Ya know what? We've never declared it a disaster. It was just a very different type of trip. Very low key and EVERYONE else was in the same boat. Including the CMs.

I don't think I would even call it a bad trip. Just different.

As a mother of a type 1 diabetic, that stinks. What a nightmare. Thanks for the heads up about those fridges;)

Two months after leaving WDW (Grand Floridian celebrating a friend's birthday) after being diagnosed with pancreatitus (in the hospital for 2 weeks).....I returned to WDW with the same friend during F&W.....now an insulin dependent diabetic.

This was my first attempt at travel using insulin 5 times daily. I was in a completely empty bathroom at the beginning of a F&W luncheon....trying to setup my insulin.

Yes, I should have been in a stall --- but I would have to put everything on the floor (you have no idea how challenging this can be in public restrooms)....so I opted for the counter..in an EMPTY restroom.

Well, a woman entered - just as I was loading the insulin into the syringe and berated me for using drugs in front of children. She was loud enough that my friend left the dining event and found/rescued me.

That's it.....in easily over 100 visits to WDW.

Mine was at the Pirate and Princess party on Aug. 24th last year. Although its not Disney's fault, it did rain and storm all night to the point where it was dangerous to be outside. There was deadly lightning and tornado warnings. Disney went about it all wrong in my opinion because they did not let the guests know what was going on. We weren't sure if the parade or fireworks would go on, plus we didn't know if we could get a refund or exchange our tickets. Every CM we spoke to told us something different. The next day I also found out that lightning struck the fireworks area and there was a fire. Nothing went on as scheduled and no one knew when and if any of the special pirate and princess party events would take place. We left early and found out they did do the fireworks and parade but very late.

This was mine too. Oh, and the time that a CR employee literally SCREAMED at me for walking the wrong way onto the monorail platform (which was not clearly marked) after getting off the elevator. There were probably 50 or so people waiting for the monorail, and they all stared at me. I was so embarassed, I wanted to just disappear into the floor. I know it was for safety reasons, but it could have been handled much more professionally.

We just returned on Saturday night from our first Disney vacation ever,we were so disappointed with almost every park.Animal Kingdom was the best park we visited. The employees there were very nice and we had a good time.Magic Kingdom was the worst, the people were rude and it was so crowded we couldn't even walk.We rode 2 rides and waited a long time for them. When we went to Epcot we didn't ride anything, with a fast pass the wait for soarin was 6 hours.I would not recommend the Dinosaur ride to anyone that has children that are under the age of 13,this is at Animal Kingdom,it is very scary. We couldn't believe how rude the people are in Florida. We feel like it was a huge waste of money to go to Disney. We have a son who is almost 7 and he even said he didn't ever want to go back.We did take an airboat ride while in Florida that was awesome.I would suggest it to anybody that was going.

Then don't come back....Florida won't mind....more room for us rude locals. Course you did decide to visit during the summer when most locals won't even begin to step foot in the park for all the summer vacation people and it being so crowded. We can visit anytime so why would we go during the summer. I sure think you made a bold statement. Were you directly ref to the employees, guests or what?

Stomach Flu. It claimed a good 3 days of our trip.

LOL :lmao: Not laughing at you but if you keep reading the thread you will see where someone from the south took it upon themselves to blame it on the rude northerners and if I remember correctly the foreigners were blamed too. It is just ignorance talking when people catagorize people. Heck everyones definition of what is rude is different as well doesn't matter where you live there will be people catagorized as rude by someone. :rotfl: Now that being said 99% of the employees I've met in all my trips were wonderful and I realize the guests are from all over so I'm coming back down in August. :thumbsup2

My worst experience was last September. We were in Epcot, and we parked our stroller in front of The Seas with Nemo. I noticed that there was a stroller just like ours parked about 5 feet away from ours. I had the thought while we were in there, what if they take our stroller instead of theirs? Sure enough, that is exactly what happened!!

When we came out, our stroller was not there, but the other one was still there. We didn't have any way to know for sure if these other people had taken it. The strollers were identical except theirs had a broken hood... oh, and it have about 6 freakings tags with their name on it!!! Ours had no tags. One of the tags had their last name and their resort (the Poly). So we decided to call the Poly and tell them that we think these people took our stroller and asked them if we could leave a message for them. They connected us to their room to leave a message. We took their stroller to Guest Relations. A CM at Guest Relations gave us a voucher for a rental stroller to use that evening.

So anyway, at about 10pm that night, we get a call from the lady and she says, "oh, yea I guess this isn't ours." Followed by, "where is my stroller?" She left ours for us at the front desk at the Poly and we went to get it the next morning.

It seems like no big deal now, but I was really upset at the time. That is a $200 stroller and I didn't want to have to buy a new one! I thought I would never see it again. I have learned my lesson though and I will never park it near others of it's type and I try to put some kind of identifying feature on it!

My worst experience happened last August......after a mid day break at the pool, my family and I hopped the bus to MK to see the parade and have some dinner at LTT. We catch the bus at the Pop and continue on to our destination........however.........my daughter and I who were closer to the front of the bus notice that the bus was going the wrong way, other people around start asking out loud "where are we going?". Before you know it the bus is leaving disney property all together and heading towards the airport. People starting getting angry and yelling to stop the bus. The bus driver finally stops the bus and radios someone. Next thing you know she makes a U turn on the highway (yes at night in the middle of traffic)!!!!!! We finally make it back to MK and there waiting for us were Disney Exec.'s apologizing and handing out fast passes. Missed the parade & dinner! I still wonder what happened to the CM?????

crazy. wonder where the bus driver thought he was going

My husband and I were waiting for the parade at MK and next to two horrible kids. One of them had an accident, reached in her pants to check and proceded to wipe her poo-covered hands on my husbands shorts!!!!

I instantly start gagging - the smell. My husband takes off his shorts immediately - thank god he wears boxers!

Bought a new pair of shorts and we were good the rest of the day.... the mother never even apologized.

That is so gross,
...... and yet so funny since it was not me

My worst experience was Christmas 2007.

Yes, I was at the happiest place on earth at the most magical time of the year, but my dad passed away that April. So DH decided to take me to WDW for the first Christmas with out my dad so maybe I wouldnt be so heartbroken. But as Christmas Eve and Christmas Day rolled around, it hit me that I will never spend Christmas with my dad again and all I did was cry for 2 days. Very sad and depressing. That was the worst.

I don't think the word northerners came out at all. I don't have a problem at all with anyone being here we just know to not go during the summer when we could go other times. I also never said anyone was rude at all. Just that the parks are crowded during the summer andthey should have known that so why were they complaining.

Ah the expresion thru words.

Ok sorry for the above post. But you put my post in quotes and I am "a southerner". You stated that a southerner was saying northerners and others were rude. I am just leaving this the way it is so that people see how things can get turned around. I read back two pages and you were actually talking about a different post, but yet you quoted me.

Stomach Flu. It claimed a good 3 days of our trip.

We got the stomach flu last May but luckily it didn't last 3 days. arrived on our last day. I have read many people who contract stomach stuff in Disney. We are decontaminating our room in October before I even let anyone in.

I have just read thru this whole thread :scared1: Some of you have been through a lot at Disney.

Julie, the person was just saying not just FL people were called out but notrtherners and foreigners too. Someone from the south said that northerners and foreigners were rude.

You were upset that she quoted you she was just saying a bunch of other people were making generalizations too, not just that person.

She actually was commiserating with you, I think you missed the point. :goodvibes

FYI
The First Aid stations will hold your insulin in their fridge and you can also do your insulin shots there. It is amazing how some people have no clue and are always quick to think the worst of someone.:sad2:

Yep probably did, but couldn't figure out why when I was NOT saying that it was northerners or whatever why I was being quoted. Oh well, happy days. :goodvibes

I have been to WDW 3 times and have had "fun" each time. DH's and my first trip to the world together was our honeymoon and I guess kissing the sick bride was probably a bad idea. Before we could even head down we had to stop at a local urgent care on a Sunday and both got prescriptions for sinus infections and finally found a pharmacy to fill them. While at Disney I was on the mend and DH was "dying" (:sad2: men). He was a trooper though and we made it most to most of the parks. Halfway through the trip I got to experience CentraCare for a wonderful case of Impetigo. Of course the $150 antiobiotics I was on wasn't going to work for the Impetigo. Overall not to bad of a trip. Oh and no one told us we needed ADRs so we had to take what we could get when it came to eating. It wasn't until the second trip I swore off ever going back to Disney.

So fast foward a couple of years and now we are family of 5 and I was 5 1/2mos pregnant. MIL and SFIL are DVC members and they wanted to do a large family trip. No problem we happily agree to go down with them. It was 8 adults and 8 kids (14, 13, 11, 6, 5, 4, 19mos, 19mos). The 3 older kids were of with their 2 adults responsible most of the time. There were a lot of missed meeting times that cause a lot of stress. So SFIL is a commando Disney person and he had his son and DIL and their kids with him (6,4) and he was determined to do EVERYTHING at disney. We ran those kids back and forth across the park so many times they were exhausted. This is also the trip I found out one of my twins is easily overstimulated. He pretty much cried from the moment we strolled into the park until MIL took them back to the room (luckily they are Disney regulars and she didn't mind). The only place this boy was ever happy was at the Boneyard in AK. SFIL had only scheduled 1 ADR for anyone and assured us that everything was taken care of  . We spent a lot of time roaming around with no clue when or where we would be eating next. It was a very stressful/exhausting trip. The icing on the cake was that the transmission went out on the van the day we checked out and were loaded to go home (this was the Friday days before Christmas). We lucked out and had a recommendation to go to the Chevy dealer clear across town and the car was still driveable at 40MPH. By this point I was bawling (recall I am pregnant and this pushed me over the edge). We had no idea how we were going to get home or where we would be able to stay until after Christmas and we could get our car fixed. The dealer worked us in and hooked up the computer and found out it wasn't the transmission but the transmission computer and they had one in stock (tears of happiness). They had us fixed up in a few really long hours and we were off. I swore I was NEVER going back to Disney with this large of a group again and before the twins were at least 5. So what did we do, went back.. lol.

Third trip is planned almost a year out. It is going to be SFIL, MIL, and my family of 6. This is the only reason I agree to go again. As the year progressed more and more people were added to the "going" list. I nearly backed out, then I found the DIS. I found out about ADRs and DDP and decided they could bring whoever they wanted this trip was going to be me and my family and if they wanted to follow my plan so be it, otherwise we were doing our own thing. This worked great, little stress. This trip has our worst Disney moment though. Very first day at the parks we hit AK. We have lost William (now a 3yo and not the one that has stimulation issues) at Walmart before so I am ubber freaked about the possiblity of getting seperated from him. I had wonder harnesses and a double stroller if they weren't in the stroller they were supposed to be harnessed. Apparently DH didn't think this was a rule that had to be followed in the store. I was walking around one part with DD and he had the 3 boys all strapped in strollers with him (he wasn't moving). So we walk back towards DH and do a head count. "Dear, where's William?" "Isn't he with you?" :scared1: Begin freak out. Just as we realized he wasn't in the store a man runs in asking if anyone is missing a little boy cause he just ran across a bridge crying his head off. I ran in the general direction he pointed William went and it is a big swarm of people. I was freaking out big time by this point. All of a sudden here come SFIL (who wasn't with us at the time) carrying William. :worship: Many tears and lectures later we all recovered and went on to have really good trip. Next trip we are going without the kids, I need a relaxing vacation this time.

Julie,
Megsmachine is right, I meant nothing to you personally. I quoted you because you seemed upset and I totally understand that since it was a generalization stating that all people from the south are rude which is not true. I just wanted to let you know that another person (not you) from the south got upset at the same post you did and said that it was people from other areas that are rude and not people who are from the south which is also not true. Rude people don't just live in one place. lol I was just stating the ignorance in those statements not in yours. Nothing got turned around just misinterpreted. I'm totally understand where you were coming from in your post.

:grouphug: How did you break your leg in Epcot?

Sorry it took so long to respond. I'm just now looking back at this thread. Anyway, I broke my leg when I fell down the steps in front of the Mayan Temple in the Mexico pavillion. Don't ask me how I managed it. All I know is one minute I was standing there then I started walking and those darn steps were there. I guess I was standing closer to them than I realized. I felt myself falling and tried to catch myself but when my foot came down on one of the steps my tibia shattered and my fibula broke. I had to have surgery in an Orlando hospital then we had to drive back home to Louisiana. I am looking at about 3 months in a cast now and no weight bearing activity on that leg. A week later, I went to my local orthopedic dr for post op care and complained about my wrist still really hurting. Yep, it's fractured too. Thankfully not as bad and I'll have the cast off my arm in just a few weeks.
