Okay so I have what is equivalent to an IEP, and in the IEP it states that I am suposed to use a caculater, however my math teacher tells the class every class period that she hates caculaters. so what can I do if she does not honor the IEP?

An IEP is a legal document that will hold up in court. I would NICELY ask her if she knows you have an IEP and if she is aware of your needed accomodations.

ETA I saw where you say it is like an IEP. I assume it is a 504 plan and my post remains the same. It is a legal document.

She kinda has to honor it. If she doesn't, go to the department head (you are in college yes?) or the dean of student affairs. You'll be fine. Relax :-)

Consult the dean, or whomever is in charge of student affairs.

If you have permitted assistance, the teacher shouldn't be really making those comments. But often, they can pretty much mouth of as they like.

Whatever you have is legally enforceable and your teacher has to honor it whether or not they like the accomodation.

When she says she hates them, is she forbidding their use, or just expressing her opinion?

My DH hates for our girls to use them, as they can prevent a child from really cementing addition and multiplication facts in their brains (kind of like my cell phone directory means I no longer can recite anyone's phone number - lol) but you having an IEP (or something similar) and needing one is different.

Discuss it with your advisor. :thumbsup2

She is just expersing her opion and yes she also forbids it. I told her I have a student notification, and she told me to turn it in with my work, so I hope she sees it, and lets me use my acomindations on the next test

Btw she had everyone take home their test to redo them, and I used my caculater when i redid it was that wrong?
