Worried about Nick Hotel mixed reviews

I've stayed at the Nick Hotel twice, once as the HIFS and the other time as the new completely remodeled Nick Hotel. I really enjoyed our stay when it was the HIFS resort. It was reasonably priced with a lot of perks (free breakfast every day).

When they switched it over to the NICK Hotel, things changed drasticly... no more free breakfast, the rooms were way over priced, the rooms were never really upgraded, noisy, lousy food, air conditioner problems that were never resolved. I'll never go back to this Hotel.

You'll do better staying on-site at an all star resort or a moderate resort. Trust me, you will be dis-appointed with NICK Hotel.

Its your money..... believe the reviews. Thats why people write reviews. We aren't trying to bash NICK Hotel, we are just trying to help people have the best vacations possibly. Spend your vacation dollars wisely !!!

Thanks to everyone for the frank and honest feedback. We do have a good deal, and I agree, I don't think it would be worth rack rate unless your kid was obsessed with spongebob or wanted to do the water slides only for the entire vacation. Of course, IMHO, most hotels aren't worth rack rate.

For now, based on what I've heard here, I think that we'll make that phone call to the manager, have a frank talk, and hope for the best. I'll also confirm that once we've checked in, we won't be obligated for the entire stay. If the room or the experience is unacceptable, I want a commitment that I won't have to pay a cancellation fee. Now that I'm thinking about this, perhaps I will address my concerns by email instead of phone, so I get the response in writing. We're still toying with the idea of renting a condo, but this has a lot to recommend it. The two-bedroom thing, even if tiny, is a huge advantage for us. Pop Century would be a bargain but I think it would be no fun at all for the grownups because putting the kids to bed would be a nightmare.

I'd love to hear more, and it sounds like we're not the only ones in this boat. Also, if anyone did have a moldy room, please let me know where it was located, and if anyone had a lovely room, ditto. I'd love to suss out if there's a section of the hotel that has moisture problems.

I have a 3 day reservation for late August. My son wanted to stay at this hotel more than vist the parks Go figure. PLEASE write update with any information you are provided with. I am more than a little tempted to change reservations to disney hotel after reading reviews.

My ds (8)wants to stay here soooo much! Our plan is to drive to Fl with an unspecified time of arrival. We have 2 days to spend before checking into Pop Century and I only want (i.e. afford) one night at Nick. Given the check-in and check-out times which night would get me the most bang for the buck?

We stayed 2 nights last October and will stay 4 nights this November. We were between this and the Poly, but my kids loved this place (and so did we) last year that it won out. We love the 2 rooms, 2 televisions, kitchenette, and the pool is really AMAZING.

Our room was clean and neat and surprisingly quiet since we overlooked the waterslides. I have recommended it to several friends.

As for checkout, they do not take your bracelets (actually I went in myself to checkout and family stayed outside). So go use the pool and have fun.

i usually give very detailed reports so i will as soon as we come home, i also got the deal for $129 plus $20 fee, i can take a lot/ but not dirty,,yuck...need good maids, it's well worth the money to hire good maids.

I can't recommend this one... and I've given them 3 chances. The new owners are nickeling and diming the guests... I'm sorry, but a $20/day resort fee... no thanks. That was my last straw. If I have to stay off property, I limit myself to the Staybridge Suites LBV... at least I won't get ripped off.

Will be staying here at the end of April with a 4 year old and 15 month old, any areas of the hotel we should ask to stay in? Thinking we want a quieter area for afternoon naps.
