World of color dessert party?!

OOoooohhh.... decisions to make! This trip is just me and my daughter and we're using points/miles for all of our hotel and airfare, so we might be able to splurge a bit. We have WOC package reservations for lunch at WCT. I wonder if we should do this instead. We weren't really sold on WCT, it was just a way to get preferred seating since we're going during one of the busy spring break weeks (and have never seen WOC). This is definitely more expensive, but would make the rest of our day more flexible with being able to eat wherever we want, whenever we want. Hmmmm....

What is WCT? And do I understand correctly that World of Color is shown during lunchtime? I thought it was a nighttime show???

WCT is Wine Country Trattoria. We had a lunch reservation that got us a ticket for entry into a reserved standing area for the WOC nighttime show. It's just the way they packaged it... the meal isn't during the show, you just reserve a meal that includes the ticket, if that makes sense. We ended up canceling it and will be doing the WOC Dessert Party instead tonight.

Thanks for the explanation! I'd love to hear what the seating is like at the dessert party if you care to share! Specifically, my questions are (1) if a very short person (me) were seated at the "worst" table at the dessert party, would I still be able to see or would I have wasted my money? And (2) how far ahead of time do folks start lining up for the dresset party? I'd love to hear any other thoughts you have as well! Have so much fun!

Didn't the viewing area used to be more like a step arena? I vaguely remember sitting there drinking beers and watching seagulls back in 02, and it was like steps. Too bad they didn't keep it that way, could have had everyone sitting there. I am wary of the photos I have seen. Being barely over 5 feet, I didn't get to see the show AT ALL last time. My husband put my kids on the shoulders because they couldn't see either. Sorry to everyone without kids, but why would I make them wait 1.5 hours hyping up a show that then grown *** adults crowd in front of them, and they can't see? What sucks is I will need to book this in the next 4 days, but I really wish there was more feedback.

Yes it did. And the original plan was to have stadium seating but they figured they could get WAY more people in that area without it, with people standing.

Last night was great! Thanks to recommendations here, we picked a high top table (most people did). It was a light night for the dessert party, so most of the low tables were empty. We also had the four person high top to ourselves as a party of two. Absolutely nothing obstructed our view. I wish I would have paid more attention, but it seemed like at the ends of the party area there were two rows of high tops instead of low with high behind. I would be wary of those, but I can't speak from experience (and not entirely sure that I saw it right).

A picture is worth a thousand words, so a few pictures...

Thank you for the great photos and helpful information!
We booked for Saturday, May 28th - Celebrating my son's 12th birthday!
I suspect that will be a busy night in the park.

Seriously though, is this worth the money? Thinking about skipping character bfast to do this instead.

Question other than Champagne what beverages (adult & regular) are offered? I heard something about a blue/vodka drink what is this? What other drinks are offered?

In June 2015 we went to WOC via fast pass. I had read about where to stand to be among first in the line as they moved people forward. My family was up front by the ropes when several over-intoxicated men (275lbs) shoved their way up front pushing my very petite (50lb) daughter against the rope with the crowd surging behind us. Needless to say a few words were exchanged. The CM's pulled us out of line- called security. We were seated in the dining area- the group causing the issue had continued to yell and protest -esp as we received premium seating- thus they were removed by security. But this whole incident left a bad taste in our mouth and made it difficult for us, especially my DH, to relax enjoy the show and my DD was shaken up-needless to say. (But not injured somehow) While this seems to be an unusual incident- my family won't try and watch WOC again via Fast Pass- our experience was too scary. It will either be with a meal package or the dessert party- sometimes being a bit away from the crowds is well worth the money. Looking forward to trying this later this Summer!

There was a blue vodka drink offered and a kid version also that came in a light up cup (kids cup only) our server also offered water, coffee and hot chocolate

At first I didn't think so but once we were in, it was the best way to watch the show. You don't have to stand or fight for space and also, you don't have to stand! On top of that, you get desserts and champagne and the view was great.

We did this last Monday, and overall it was great. Worth the money? That's debatable because at $80 per person (even children) with no passholder discount, it's really pricey. If you have the money and want a super easy, convenient and comfortable way to watch World of Color, by all means do it.

The service was top notch - all CMs were super friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed the champagne (they offered me a second glass), my mom stuck with coffee because it was COLD and my girls loved the special drink and glowing cups. We were also each given a bottle of water while seated and then given a couple to take with us as well. Hot chocolate was available too, as well as the kids drink but with vodka. The dessert plate was overflowing. I enjoyed the cheese and bread the most. There were a couple of desserts I liked, but overall they were just ok; a little too pre-fab for my liking. My girls didn't eat a thing other than some bread and a bite of a macaron. I really think they should do a more kid friendly option. My girls would have much much preferred a simple ice cream sundae. So from that perspective, it felt like a waste.

But you can't beat the location and being able to watch sitting down on a chair with nothing blocking your view. There is no need to arrive early. Seating is on a first come, first served basis but there is not a bad table from what I could tell. The higher ones are a little better because of added elevation, but the low ones looked good too. I even wish we would have arrived at more like 9:30 (show started at 9:45) because we were cold (we got there at 9:15). It was definitely not sold out - there were a lot of empty tables and we were offered a front and center table despite arriving 15 minutes after it opened.

All in all, I have no regrets and enjoyed the experience very much. I have now done all WOC dining packages, some several times, and they are they way to go to avoid a long wait. The dessert experience certainly is the best if you want to pay the money. :)
