World Cup- Are Americans Excited?

Jürgen Klopp is one of the most respected managers in the world and said the right thing. He’s German, so his response is sort of in line with the blunt answers they are known for.
His comments will not go over well with officials of Qatar or FIFA.

I had forgotten how the World Cup dates had been moved to accommodate the weather.

How much is this World Cup costing the other leagues that had to adjust their schedules?

Europeans are really the only ones affected.

There is a World Cup protest song on YouTube by the way for those interested. Just search Rasmus Wold- Never mind the slavery. It never really caught on last year among the public though as far as I’m aware.

FIFA accuses the west of Hypocrisy.

Sounds like FIFA is getting yelled at by Qatar because the media coverage is not the wonderful Sports Washing coverage the country wanted.

This is not a case of players making a sports event political.

This is the managing organization throwing their players under the political bus.
He’s gross.

He’s gross.
He was second in command to Sepp Blatter. The USA actually first voted against him but we had no choice but to in the second round of voting. He is the former head of UEFA (Europe), the most corrupt soccer confederation.

Are you just going to put up youtube videos and twitter posts?
Only relevant ones. I’ll post the MLS WC match links, so those at work can follow games in a text format. The things I post save time and space compared to me just retyping the same stuff that a video can just show. I’ll post my opinion about a match on my thread when I can.

I live in Nebraska, home of the Husker football team and nothing else. Outside of the small Hispanic community, you won't find many people who watch soccer here. There will be people who will watch the World cup, like people watch the Olympics, but I never hear anyone talk about soccer or see it on the TVs at the bars and restaurants here. I know that it is hard to imagine considering how huge it is where you live, but there are too many other sports here that people watch.
Just a few hours south though and you're in the "soccer capital of the U.S." :) which also has NFL, MLB and hockey is getting more attention now too although they are not NHL they are in a league.

You have a strange definition of "saving" space.

You could search soccer bars in Nebraska and be surprised.
Of course there are some like I said, but it is not the standard sport that is on the TV. The person that I quoted said that they couldn't believe that someone could not know anyone that does not watch soccer. That is possible, depending on where you live. Very few people that I have known here actually watch soccer. It is football and basketball that are the most popular here. Again, there are some communities, like the Hispanic ones, that do love and watch soccer.

Of course, there are lots of places in the US where people love soccer. I never said that there wasn't. I said that there are places where soccer is just not popular with everyone and that you can easily be in a group where no one that you know does not watch it.

Sorry I think you misunderstood what I was meaning with my post :flower3: It was just a light play on the fact that if you go a few hours south of where you live is in stark contrast to your soccer desert if you will. I totally get what you're saying, I wouldn't have made my comment to someone states away but you're not that far from me, that's all :)

I highly doubt people in the western half of my state care as much about soccer lol
