Working Women who don't cook&obesity

and if you ask me, why the heck aren't husbands/fathers helping with the cooking if both parents work?

.
Some Husbands/Dads do share in the cooking, I certainly do..I work primarily 9-5, with an occassional late night, my wife unfortunately works 7-3. 3-11, and 11-7.. so I actually do more cooking than she does,

I cook for the kids when she's 3-11 and when she's 11-7..dinner is waiting when she gets up around 6....other times who does the cooking is based on the meal,, we each have our specialties, and some meals we prepare together...

Don't blame scarlettO, she was just trying to bring it to another thread, and I don't believe she agrees with it, so please don't jump down her throat.
As for the topic, the quote is ignorant, and seems as if pugdog is trying to make herself feel a little better for feeding her children fast food. However not every working mother feeds her children fast food all the time, and if you ask me, why the heck aren't husbands/fathers helping with the cooking if both parents work?
Also the quote insinuates that women are some sort of rebel for going out and *GASP* getting a JOB! When they should be at home cooking their children good healthy meals!

tricia.

Actually... originally the quote was said in jest. But the fact that you guys took it so literally amused me. I don't appreciate being called ignorant... and don't believe I've resorted to calling anyone names as I've been fanning flames all day.

Seriously people... you really need to lighten up.

And BTW - I only have 1 child who is a teen and I was a single professional most of her life, so it was about me as much as it was anyone else. Currently she feeds herself so please do worry about her.

:teeth:

 Why in the world would you make a "jestful" comment on C.Ann's thread about an obese friend in a coma?

Mickey88 I did not mean to imply that no men/fathers cook, I know that's not true because my SO is an excellent cook and cooks for me quite often, after he's come home from a long day at work.

Pugdog007, I said the quote was ignorant, and if you said it in jest you should be the first one to agree with that statement.

Uh let me see. To upset you? or

How about to lighten up a really sad thread? Or maybe... it was really late and I was saying what was on the top of my head when I read the thread? How about that? Would there be an answer that would be acceptable to you?

And the difference is? Not a lot.

It is possible to state your point clearly without inflammatory and childish name calling.

Oh lighten up people! I'm a woman and I don't intend to edit the post... IMO it's true. When I was growing up I had a SAHM who cooked every night. I however, am a working Mom and we eat fast food a lot... after working 9-10 hrs a day I certainly don't cook when I get home! I haven't cooked anything that didn't come out of the microwave in years.

I don't think so. I've worked since seven weeks after our DS was born. He's six foot tall and weighs 156 pounds. I'm 5'8" and a size eight. DH runs marathons--hardly overweight. I don't cook a gourmet meal every night, and we eat out a couple nights a week...although one of those nights is usually take out pizza--95% of the time with just cheese. The other night can be anything from Subway to Macaroni Grill to Legal Seafoods. It's seldom if ever junky fast food, although Taco bell calls every now and then ;)

I know plenty of SAH mom's with overweight kids.

I think it's a lot of things, genetics, kids who are vidiots, and parents who don't choose wisely whether eating out or preparing food at home.

What exactly is your point? Do you think I haven't already read that???

As I previously stated,

I said the quote was ignorant. And if you said it in jest, you would be the first person to agree with me.
