I think my kids will want to sign up for JTA on our HS day. We already have a lunch ADR for 12:10 at Sci-Fi. How do they schedule around ADRs and FP+? I am not yet to my FP+ window (20 more days!), so I need to figure out how to fit it all in!

Here's the typical scheduling for JTA. Each session is 20 minutes and your children will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled session to receive instructions and be given the robes to wear. You'll need to block out at least an hour to fit in JTA. And, as long as you arrive to the sign-ups as soon as the park opens, you should be able to choose the session that fits your plans.

9:20, 10:10, 11:00 & 11:50am, 12:40, 1:20, 1:50, 2:20, 3:40, 4:10, 4:40, 5:30, 6:20, 7:10 & 8:00pm
Space is limited, and participants (ages 4-12) must be present to register. Please see a Cast Member at the ABC Sound Studio early in the day to make same-day reservations.

How quickly does it fill up? We will be there August 10th. Would we be able to ride TSMM at opening and make it overto sign ups before it fills up? TIA

I was there at opening and got a 11am JTA but once I told them about my lunch adr at 11 they moved me to the next show no problem

DHS' gates open at least 15 minutes before the scheduled park opening and most JTA families head directly to JTA sign-ups. Slots can fill quickly and if you want the session to fit into your Fp/ADR plans, it's best to head to sign-ups first. Or, if there are two adults in your party, send one adult and JTA child to sign-ups and the other adult to get into the standby line at TSMM.

So...it sounds like I should probably pick an afternoon time? :confused3 That way, if either JTA or lunch runs long, we won't be late or miss anything.

Your best bet is morning. Sessions get canceled in the afternoons due to rain and/or lightning.

JTA never runs long. All onstage cast keep the show running according to time constraints for the onstage CMs - my DD is a member of the cast. If you can get the first show, that would be ideal, unless it is raining at park opening. Just be sure not to try this on an EMH morning if you are not an onsite resort guest.

I am so confused, so please forgive me in advance for the dumb questions. Since we won't know until we get there to sign up what time we will get, what is the best way to schedule our FPs? Just sign up and be prepared to change FPs on the fly? Ugh! I like some planning, but this is getting ridiculous.

You can ask for a specific JTA session. When Fp+ went into effect, JTA began accommodating requests for specific sessions.

If you want the very last session at 8:00, you can select that time and be free to schedule whatever else you want around that session. If a session is canceled due to rain, then a quick meet and greet is held with Vader and Troopers.

It's best to at least ask your kids if they would be interested in participating in JTA. If the answer is no, you won't have to plan around it. Too many kids get into the sessions only because their parents wanted them to do it and they make it to the stage and choose to do nothing. That's why it's best to ask before you begin scheduling Fp+.

We were among the first people in the park at RD, but since we are rule followers and refuse to sprint (while CMs are asking over and over for all to please walk) there were about 20 people there before us, so the first show was filled, they offered us the next show, which conflicted with a FP+, so they asked us which show we would like and we were able to pick any of the remaining shows. I honestly would go to JTA first rather than TSMM, when we left the building, the line was very, very long.

I would also recommend doing this on an AM EMH day. That way the crowd will be thinner for the first hour. We did this over our April Spring Break trip. We were 3rd in line to sign up for Jedi Training, which only took a couple of minutes (we got to choose the show time). Then we headed to Toy Story Mania and only had a 15 minute wait. It was great!
