Eh.. it is something everyone has to do... do you like your job?

what do you do?

I like my job okay... but i hate that they never follow your availability.... i am not available until 10 am on sundays but yet the schedule me for 5 am every sunday for the past 3 months. i would like to go to church...

the people are nice there.. but i guess i should not complain because i am leaving to the WDWCP in a couple weeks.

I work at a shoe store. Most of the people are great, but a few just really get on my last nerve. Mostly the general manager who is one of those people who has to follow every single rule or he thinks the world is gonna end. Then there is a snobby chick that I prefer to stay away from. I have 2 other bosses that are fabulous and I'm friends with most of the other female workers. The guys don't talk much, they're more of the silent type.

I work about 40 hours a week. 8-5 Monday through Friday. Weekends off.

The actual work is okay, although I HATE HATE HATE unloading the socks and shoe cleaners because we're way overloaded on them. Some of the stuff just WILL NOT FIT but my GM just will not listen. UGH. See what I mean about the last nerve thing?

I'm taking a test soon because I'm trying to get the Cashier Lead position. It just basically means head cashier where I train others, supervise and do a whole bunch of paperwork.

Apparently I'm really really good at my job though. I'm not trying to brag, but they say I'm one of the best workers they've had in years. I'm just really proud of that. :)

I wish I had a job.
Babysitting is cool, but I REALLY want a summer job but I'm too young. :(
I hate depending on my parents for money now. I wish I could be independant but I have to wait another year unfortunately.

im a photographer.
i love making art. but i dislike some of the jobs i get/some of the people i have to work with. plus i have frickin weird hours.
but i work for 75-100$ an hour. so its worth icky clients and bad jobs.

im a waitress/dishwasher/etc
i hate it i hate it i hate it so bad.

I have 2 jobs, which makes me extremely busy/tired, yet extremely richhhh!!

my full time job is a receptionist at the head office of a really big company.
(it's #100 on the list of 500 most powerful companies in canada woot.)
i get pais 12$/hr to answer phones, transfer calls and sign for packages. its pretty sweet.
kind of boring though because i have NO ONE to talk to, and NO ONE is my age there

my part time job is working @ a movie theatre, which has made me realize the STUPIDITY of humanity. I get SO aggrivated with customers, but I have tons fo friends to work with, and it's really fun to socialize. :thumbsup2

But here are some tips when going to the movies, so you don't make the person serving you want to kill themselves;

when buying your ticket;
  • check movie times beforehand (internet, newspaper, phone)
  • when checking movie times, make sure you are looking at the right website/newspaper date. (if you are not, pls refrain from getting angry at the ticket salesperson, as it is not THEIR fault that you are stupid)
  • don't fold your money into a teeny tiny little square and make me unfold it.
  • don't complain about the price. the salesperson realizes that movies cost alot, and that 'back in your day' they were only a nickel.
  • pls refrain from yelling at the salesperson when you show up to a movie late, only to find that it is sold out.

when buying concession items;
  • once again, no need to remind the concessionist how expensive the popcorn is that you are buying. trust me, THEY KNOW.
  • when getting a free refill, pls do not think that you are more spcial than others, you do NOT get to come to the front of the line, ou can wait, like everyone else. and if you think you are afraid you're going to miss a good part of the movie, well then maybe you don't need to much popcorn anyway.
  • have some manners :)

anyways, i pretty much enjoy both of my jobs (expect for the dealing with the general public part)

I work in a bulk food store. I'm actually going in in about 2 hours.
Oh the joys.
I don't mind it really, I only really work cash because everyone else hates it (I have no idea why, it helps time pass a lot quicker). I only mind my job when I'm not there.
But I hate it when customers use coupons, insist on using their own bags (see, even if they tell me they want it in their own bag, my instinct is to always put it in our bags), use credit or debit cards for like 51 cents. I also hate it once I've put the money they gave me through the machine and they're like 'OH! I've got a penny!'. Look, I don't need your penny, the machine tells me how much to give you back and I'm too dimwitted to add that penny on.
There's actually a long list of things that I dislike, but I won't. I love people who put the codes on. I dislike people who can't even remember what the name of what they're buying is (if you don't know what kind of soup you just bought it, then what the heck are you going to do with it?!).

I work at ACME (grocery store)
And I bag food.
I should be a cashier by now, but...:snooty:

I guess I'm such a good bagger they don't want to let me cashier

Currently, I have a volunteer job at the library.

9-11:30, Friday mornings.

It's only til the end of August :(

Next year, I should have a real job, but with my birthday in the smack middle of summer, it's hard for me--either too young or too old!

don't fold your money into a teeny tiny little square and make me unfold it.

yesyesyesyesyes! I just want to strangle people when they do that. Especially if they throw a lot of little tiny squares onto my table and there's a huge line behind them.

I also hate it once I've put the money they gave me through the machine and they're like 'OH! I've got a penny!'. Look, I don't need your penny, the machine tells me how much to give you back and I'm too dimwitted to add that penny on.

Yeah. My bosses are really touchy with that kind of stuff because they're terrified of 'quick change artists' which are apparently really good at stealing money. So when they do that to me I'm trying to add it all up in my head and stressing about if it's right or not. So I usually just say "We're not allowed to take money after we've already put the total in the the computer. Sorry." And then they give me a dirty look but usually just leave it alone.

Here's a few tips, whenever you go buy shoes from me.

-- Check the shoes to make sure they're both the right size. It makes the transaction faster and you get out the door more quickly.
-- Know where your debit/credit/liscense are. I hate waiting for you to dig it out of the scary depths of your purse.
-- Please don't comment on how expensive our sodas are. I know it. I can't do a thing about it.
-- Listen carefully when I tell what our specials are so I don't have to repeat myself over and over again.
-- Try being in a positive, cheerful mood.
-- MY PENS ARE NOT OUT OF INK. Ugh. The receipt paper is just hard to write on.
-- LOOK on the credit card machine. OBSERVE the picture. Process it in your brain. And THEN try swiping it. Do you know how annoying it is to be asked 500 times a day which way to slide the card?

Sorry. I'm just at my wits end about a few things. And Caitlin is right, you really learn how stupid people can be while working with the public.

I'm a sales associate at SportChek, and let me tell you, $9.25/hr does not make up for some of the things I have to put up with! However, compared to what most people seem to have to deal with, it's an alright job.

But you do get .. commission don't you?
I would love to have that.

My 8 bucks an hour aint cuttin' it either. I'm making 25 cents above minimum wage here... but.
I'm not getting enough hours to make any money. When I get faster at cash I get a raise of .25 cents.

I babysit my cousin. That's my job this summer.
It's alright, except for when he is obnoxious, which is about 80% of the time.

I hate my job. I work at CVS as a cashier and store clerk. Basically I deal with rude people when I'm at the register, then I restock shelves. Most of the stuff that I do it boring and a monkey could do what I do without any training. It's pathetic.

I absolutely ADORE the people that I work with though, we have such a good time, especially on truck days, when our shipment of items comes in. A lot of people work and we all goof around.

Good news, I only have 1 more month!! Then I'm out and off to college!!!! Wooooooo!!!

I only like like two people I work with. One is a friendly supervisor (but she's in NY this week, so I won't be working with her) and this mellow guy. Like he never talks to me, and doesn't make fun of me or anything.

I don't like the other people for various reasons.
And my manager, I just don't like her, or working with her. I only screw up when I'm working with her.

I'm a barista at a local coffee shop. It's an okay job. I get free food and drinks whenever I want, which is nice. :thumbsup2
I get $7 an hour, plus any tips. I only work twice a week, but for 8 hour shifts. Saturday 6 am - 2 pm is KILLER! gak. that shift drains my energy. I get home and I'm dead, haha.
We have some weird customers, though. I was actually proposed to yesterday.

Proposed? xD Thank god, I don't have any weird customers.

lol, you're lucky.
They can sometimes be inappopriate. Customers sometimes assume that because we smile and ask them about their day that we're friends with them, or flirting, and they sometimes cross the line.

But I do love my regs. A lot of our customers are really sweet and funny. They make up for the creepers, haha.

I would kill to work a 6-2 shift. Killlll. I really love going in early, because that means I get off earlier. I can't handle having to stay late though, unless I'm doing stuff back in the office.

I make $7 an hour and about $430/$440 every two weeks. I sooo do not get paid enough for dealing with some of the stuff that I deal with.

I suppose it's less busy in the morning.

I don't like working at night for some reasons, but I definitely prefer it. What I don't like is that people come in two minutes before close! And you can't leave until everything is done and cleaned.
If your shift ends in the middle of the day, you leave when you're done, no waiting for anybody else.
