There was a customer today that was horribly mean to a young sales associate today. She was doing exactly what she was supposed to do, but the woman kept on and on, even threatening to report her. I was on the scene by that time and tried to explain to the "woman" that she was doing what she was supposed to do and the woman wasn't listening to me either.

The woman didn't stop, even after the girl was crying. By that time I was calling a manager to deal with it. The girl tried to leave while I was on the phone, but the customer stopped her again to buy something else. I don't know why, she threated to not buy anything at all, she threatened all kinds of stuff and by that time I was thinking "good riddance".

The customer walked to another area by the time the managers got there and they were able to calm the girl down.

Why are people so mean and hateful? I will never understand why some people have to make others feel bad. Frankly, I hope I never do.

Lauri,
Some people are just flat out bullies - who look for someone smaller than them to intimidate and hurt and embarrass....

I wish everyone had to go out and work for at least one month with the general public in retail, dining, etc. I think it might make everyone be a little more considerate....

I think that some people think it's their job to make others feel bad. I've run into MANY people like this.
I had one woman scream at me once because SHE misread a sign-she read the sale price, but not the original price, and was screaming because the original price of the item she was buying was $6 more-so the difference of the sale price was equal to the percentage off of THAT price...She actually said "who reads those signs anyways?!?" i was thinking to myself "ummm...I'm pretty sure you did or you wouldn't have seen that there was a sale..." and I shrugged when she turned around...she yelled "WHAT WAS THAT?" to which I said "I didn't say anything" and she yelled "Actions speak louder than words..." Since my store was closing in three days for good, and I was fed up, I just walked away, but that wasn't enough, she had to yell "Yeah you better walk away" and call me white trash
Some people just seem to have miserable lives and want to take it out on everyone else...I have so many stories I'd need my own thread to list them all!

people who are mean to other people are all over the place, I guess it makes them feel better about there worhtless life.

:teeth:

Thanks Pop Daddy, that laugh felt good.

Genrally when people are being flat-out mean, it's because they have little or no feeling of self-worth and try to drag everyone else down to their level to make themselves feel better. Sort of a "misery loves company" type thing.

I have been known to walk away from people who are behaving inappropriately and tell them that when they can speak to me in a civil tone of voice "perhaps" I will decide to try and help them.

You'd be amazed at how that stops some people right in their tracks.
