I'm so excited.

FOr the first time ever (member since 2001) I finally got an II match - for Harborside Atlantis 1BR - 144 points Nov 9 - 16 (hurricane season).

Please tell me I did good.... I had a very short time to decide, so hope it works out..

I'll post trip report next year ;)

Boy - talk about planning.... :rotfl2:

I think the opportunity to stay in Atlantis is thrilling! Congratulations.

That is great! Congratulations. I wouldn't worry overly much about hurricanes. We hardly ever have real activity that late in the season. The Atlantis is awesome.

One question. Why 144 pts? I am a bit confused as to how II works.

Thanks!

Have you tried a long time to get it? I would like to book it sometime. How hard is it to get the peak times?

Congratulations.

November is at the end of hurricane season. Wouldn't stress over that. I would love to stay there sometime in the future.

Congratutlations! How exciting and good for you. Would love to try it someday also. A trip report when the time comes is mandatory :)

Peak season trades through Atlantis through II are essentially non existent to non Starwood owners other than possibly short notice. Even off season trades are hard to come by and usually 1 BR units.

Starwood just did a pretty good size bulk banking of Harborside into II. Mostly it was Sept-early Nov.

I know on the TUG sightings board it was met with a little :banana: , even if the weeks were during hurricane season.

Congratulations again!

You will absolutely love the place! :cloud9:

One of our all time favorite resorts!

Let me know when you start planning. I'll give you some tips for the trip.

What is the difference between Harborside II and Atlantis? Are they both at the same location?

Harborside is part of Atlantis. Its official name is Harborside Resort at Atlantis. The Atlantis Resort consists of Harborside, Beach Tower, Royal Tower, Coral Tower, The Cove and The Reef.

Here is a very good map of the complex. Map

Harborside is timeshares, The Reef is residences, and the rest are various levels of hotels. The Beach Tower is the lowest level hotel. The Cove and Imperial Club are the highest level at Atlantis.

Almost forgot, the hotel next to the Tower is also owned by Atlantis, Comfort Inn I think. If you stay there, you have full acess to Atlantis (except for The Cove area).

Thanks Tom! I have printed this off for future reference!:goodvibes

WOW! Great get! DH and I had discussed trying to get this resort in 2010, but from what I read it was pretty much impossible. You've given me hope that maybe it could happen and it certainly NEVER hurts to try. have tons of fun!

Congratulations!

As Harborside owner myself, I have had difficulty trying to use my "fixed-float" week purchased resale for any week other than our fixed week.

I finally traded into the weekend that I wanted after 30+ phone calls. So even as a Starwood owner, what you want may not be available to you.

I have heard of some DVCers getting Harborside reservations few and far between - so this is a special case. Congrats again!

sidenote - The hotel across the street which gives full access to Atlantis facilities is a Comfort Inn, not Days Inn.

It is possible to trade into Harborside, as you can see. But you have to have certain expectations. Its very unlikely you will get a two bedroom and never a three bedroom unit. You can forget about Spring and Summer weeks. You can also forget about Holidays. That only leaves Sept, Oct and May. You need to be flexible and it helps to track when Starwood does thier deposits and hop that all the Starwood owners do not grab them all first.

Congratulations!!!

We got to walk through it one time while in port on a cruise. :thumbsup2

What do you think is the likelihood of getting a week (1-bedroom) at any of the nicer II resorts in the Caribbean in Feb or March??? We've never traded in before, but have deposited our points this year to hopefully get something this winter. Are we nuts or is there a chance we will get something???

Are you looking for 2009 or 2010? If you want you could send me a PM and I could take a look with my Starwood ski week to see if anything is available.

I love geeking around II to see what's out there. :)

Well, we had wanted to try for our 10 year anniversary which is in Sept of 2010. We could be flexible for anytime between sept and nov and would only want a 1 bedroom for our family of 4. But, I go back and forth as to whether we just try to book it and pay oop or try to use our points for it. Thanks for the tips, it is encouraging to know that sept or oct is doable for this type of trade. One more question, when you stay at harborside, can you participate in the dining plans available at Atlantis?
