I had a debate for the same thing of either 4 night on Wish so the verandah or 8 nights on fantasy on ocean view. Ultimately, I went with the 8 nights on fantasy. I just couldn’t justify a cruise half as long for the same price. Also I felt like on the Wish most activities onboard were going to be booked by concierge and platinum, which we are neither. We have never been on the Fantasy and are looking forward to it. I’m excited to spend 8 nights on the ship and be able to relax and not feel like I have to rush to see and do everything that I want
That is true. We are silver and with a 3 day cruise there won't be too many slots available for us to book for onboard activities. I saw a video showing that they will be doing tastings in the salons at night. That should create more slots for people...not sure...

I feel your pain @mickeymom22 ;);)

I'm going in the opposite direction though. We're booked on the Dream out of Miami and I'm looking at going on the Wish instead. Only thing is that it's $1200 more. The Wish looks so beautiful though... :rotfl: and of course my husband said do it! He loves new stuff. "I can still smell the fresh paint, the china had never been used."

Dang that Disney! The allure of all that newness! In the opposite direction is the pull of better ports of call on the Fantasy for us!

Either way, Disney + Cruising =

My husband would pick a longer cruise any day of the week. I prefer 4/5 night cruises myself. I've done 7/8 night cruises and I start to get anxious. Especially when they started running out of stuff by day 6 on the 8 nighter. That was a Carnival cruise though. ;) :thumbsup2

Book the oceanview and try to upgrade to verandah at the port. We had oceanview and upgraded from cat 8 to 5 for $48 a night (3 night cruise) in May. Others in our group were lucky and got it for free!

I have sailed with a veranda and then gone back to an ocean view once. I really missed the verandah. I do love watching the ocean and relaxing with coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The odd thing is I prefer a veranda on a longer cruise. You have more time to relax so you get more use out of it. On a shorter cruise I am not in the room much.
I could definitely do an inside room though, if the price is so much less. On an Alaskan cruise we had ocean view. I woke up early and went up on deck as we were pulling into Ketchikan and there were eagles flying over my head as the sun was rising. It was so beautiful. I would have missed that if I were on a veranda because our room was facing away from the port, and I wouldn't have had to go out of the room to be outside. So one of my best outdoor cruise moments was when we had a small ocean view room. Go figure!
That said, I am sticking with the Wish for this year. I think it is beautiful and I really want to see it and experience it in person while it is fairly new. Whatever you end up choosing, enjoy your cruise!

I’m probably one of the only platinum members who has no plans on the Wish. I have 3 more cruises booked on the Fantasy this year. 7 night in September and a b2b in October & November (8 night and 6 night). With the Vgt rates I can do 7 (even 8) nights cheaper than a 4 night on the Wish. The Wish will still be there when the Vgt rates start to dry up. So I’m living my best life on the Fantasy right now. I’ve already cruises twice this year, February and April (Vgt). Just making up for lost time, while I still can.

On 7 night cruises I start to get full towards the end. Those big MDR dinners, night after night, start to add up. That's one reason I prefer a 5 night cruise. The entertainment does start to feel a bit repetitive as well, even on DCL.

That said, I would definitely choose a 7-night cruise over a 3-night cruise. 3 night cruises can be great if that's all you have time for, they're great getaways, but 5 to 7-night cruises are more of a vacation.

I hear you. We do try to use the longer cruises to catch up on our movies. We tend to get very laid-back and lazy on the 7 nights. We’re not big eaters, so don’t indulge much on the ship. I don’t think we’ve ever eaten anything on the pool deck. I’ll be doing my first 7/7 b2b in the fall. I’ve done b2b in the past, but this will be my longest.

I always prefer a longer cruise. I've done two 7-nights (Wonder and Fantasy) and one 5-night (Wonder) and seemed to relax more when I have more time on the ship. The Wish does not appeal to me right now for a few reasons. A short cruise does not appeal to me, and neither does a quick jaunt over to Nassau. I also like having several sea days to just unwind.

I voted for the longer cruise, since OP hasn’t done the Fantasy before. It is a great ship with some unique features and excellent shows. We sometimes get OV and sometimes verandah and I enjoy both. A verandah is nice but there are plenty of public spaces with lovely views that are often even nicer the the verandah. I especially enjoy the Satellite Falls area and Meridian bar on the Fantasy as a verandah substitute.

For the Wish, we are doing a B2B to have more time to explore the ship. The cost for our dates was equivalent to a Fantasy 7-night the same week, but pricing varies much I assume that is not true for OPs dates.

Wow! Seeing the eagles sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I understand about not really wanting to go to Nassau. We have only been on two cruises both stopped in Nassau and we don't really need to go back there. One cruise was supposed to stop at Key West, but the weather kept us out to sea. My Wish cruise is just stopping at Castaway Cay while the Fantasy stops there plus Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Thanks for sharing!

That would be a sweet upgrade! Once we got a free upgrade at All-Star Music to a family suite and we were so excited! That unexpected magic is the best!

agree with the posts that say longer=better. cruises always go by so fast as is, I think you'll appreciate the extra time. the wish isn't going anywhere, you'll have a chance to experience a 7-night on one of the 3 new boats soon enough. fantasy is a great ship.

We have only been on one cruise before, Wonder 4 night and that wasn't long enough. I would choose the longer cruise. The wifey wanted to go on the Wish for her bday this month so I was forced to book it but I convinced her to go on the Fantasy in October for 7 nights. Its a win win I guess lol.

We are now in the same position. Booked a b2b on the Wish. Watched some of the walkthroughs and videos and paused with a giant "oh". We are two adults and the reduced adults section on the Wish is disappointing for us. Considering the 8 night on the Fantasy for half the cost. But then, I am a Disney completest... so ... dunno.
Does this mean you can't do another cruise on a ship you've sailed on until you've sailed on every ship? Likewise, does it mean you can't return to an American-based Disney park until you've visited DLP, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong?:scratchin

JMHO, but this would be the least of my reasons for choosing a cruise that is double the cost for less time. I need to feel like I'm getting a decent value for my money.

I can go without a verandah, however it has to be an ocean view room. Interior rooms save you more money but I need some sort of window to the outside so I don't feel like I'm in a box.
