Wondering About a Connecting Way From Kidani to Jambo

I was looking at the pictures of BLT and the connecting bridge it has to the Comtemporary. I was wondering if something like that could be done between Kidani and Jambo House.
It doesn't even have to be a bridge. It could be an enclosed walkway or something so there is a closer point A to point B.
From what I hear it is quite a walk to get to back and forth from Kidani and Jambo. The other option is taking the bus. I can imagine a raised bridge crossing over the savannah. It would be visually cool and make things more easily accessible.
Just a thought.

I for one would not want to see that. It would definitely interfer with the rustic natural look of things if a big old walkway went across the sunset savanna between the buildings. That is the only place there could be such a thing. They might be able to put something around the end, but what advantage is that over just using the roadway that's there now?

I don't think the walk will be as bad as some make it to sound. I took several photos last January.

You'd exit Kidani on the back side (which would be the check-in side, and also the parking lot side). There's a walkway along the backside of the building which leads to the edge of the regular AKL/AKV parking lots. A short walk along there and you get to the main entrance to the lodge.

This of course does not include the internal walk to get from your specific room at Kidani to the outside entrance.

I'd say there's absolutely no chance of a bridge being built over the savanna. It would have to be totally enclosed (so people couldn't throw/drop things into the Savanna that the animals could get to. Also the most direct path between buildings would not take you to the main lodge area but to the end of one of the AKL/AKV wings. You'd then have to walk internally down a hallway to get to the main lodge area.

The external walkway they currently have is the most direct path possible between the main entrance to Kidani and the main entrance to the lodge.

I thought about an underground walkway that popped up in the middle of the "back yard" and had a viewing hut that both resorts could take advantage of. It would be low impact, usefull to the guests/members and also could be themed easily to go along with the Savana.

Nice idea, but a little late now. That would not be easy to add at this point.

Is the current walkway covered? (Like @ VWL) If not, that could be a good (if larger) alternative; transit during bad weather is a BIG thing for me. Am I correct in thinking they have 2 different bus stops, and now Kidani has it's own resturaunt, so in bad weather it might not be that big a deal...

I must admit the tunnel and viewing hut sounds cool, though!

Hey, if enough people yell loudly enough at the right time, we could get a slide at OKW.

Oh that's right, that already happened ;)

We own at AKV and have thought about this. I have a bit of a different take on it than some do. I say its about time we had a decent place to run at AKL/AKV. I hate treadmills and can't wait to go for a nice loop between both resorts. It should be beautiful!:yay:

That is a potentially sick (very good) idea, the savannah version of the Atlantis slide...

I once posted an idea of a Zip line to DAK...

No, it's not covered. This photo shows the path as it goes along the back side of Kidani....

And this series of photos shows the path one would follow the rest of the way, along the main parking lot, to get to the main lodge entrance...

The tunnel idea of course would need to be water tight since it would have to go down below the water table. It would need lighting, security cameras, etc. Obviously not going to happen.

Great pictoral series as usuall, Bill! I really LIKE that the two will be disconnected. It fits the natural surroundings better.

It'll be possible to take buses between the two resorts in bad weather, or if you prefer not to walk. Park buses will stop at Kidani first, so you could board there and get off at Jambo. Downtown Disney buses will start at Jambo and then go to Kidani.

Because WDW has already presented the buses as an alternative to walking, don't look for any other walking path, bridge or tunnel to be built.
