Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Ok, so back to the new cell phones DW and I got. We spent the better part of Sunday afternoon learning all about the new phones. I would find something out, then I would show Donna. She would find something out and then she would show me. So................we were trying to figure out how to use the camera on this new "Smart Phone!!!" I finally figured out how to work it and took a shelfy of myself. I got to tell ya, I looked like some kind of drunk in that shelfy. Cracked Donna up some much she almost peed a little. Well, miss smart pants says she has learned how to take pictures too. So, while she is telling me how she figured out the camera, she takes a 40 second video of my knees and you can hear her in the background explaining how to use the camera. Needless to say, we both got a big laugh out of that!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I know there will be fewer kids. I am just having a really hard time justifying pulling my boys out of school.

Are they good students? Perhaps if you talked to their teachers they would give you the work they would miss by being away and they could spend a little time each day on it so they wouldn't be behind when they get back.

Also, the educational opportunity of going through the canal is something they wouldn't get in a textbook. They will be able to make some dynamite presentations to their classrooms when they get back to school.

I guess you have to weigh what they'll be missing from two weeks in school against what they'll gain from the experience.

Hi Everyone, We'll be on the ship with our 2 boys, ages 9 and 10. Anyone else going with little ones?

Welcome!!!!!!!!! I have two boys that will be 10 and 12 at the time of cruise. Yes, I am pulling my kids out of school for two weeks. The educational experience will be worth it. At the beginning of school year, I will give their teachers a heads up. They will be doing their homework on the ship. They can't complain to much about it... the assistant superintendent has given me two weeks off and I teach in the same district. I was very fortunate to get the time off. I do have to pay for my sub. I have no problem with that. Also, we are out 3 of the 10 school days we are missing. I am looking forward to quality family time.

So I'm packing up my stuff and I'm having a really hard time packing all my Panama Canal cruise clothes because I don't want to lose them. All boxes are marked with a "super important clothes!" warning. Moving in 2 weeks. You'd think my scrubs would be marked with that.... :D

You have your priorities!!! :thumbsup2

This cruise cannot come soon enough. We had snow last night  and it is 30 degrees and windy. This is just crazy!!!!

Same for us, Olive! I couldn't believe it when we woke up to the sound of that "wintry mix" hitting the windows. It's stopped for now, but once again the ground is white. This is getting so OLD!

I looked out our bedroom window and I too saw white stuff on the ground!!! (Of course our white stuff is sand - not snow. Never mind!!!)

We're also booked for the Panama Canal cruise in September. Originally, we had booked this cruise last September on the Fantasy wanting to move it to 2015. Since Disney now has an 18 month sailing date we aren't able to do that. I have to say that after reading all of your posts I am very excited about sailing this coming September with all of you! Donna & John

Welcome to the cruise. I just saw that you were from Miller Place. We had a summer house in Sound Beach for many, many years and went every summer from the day school got out until Labor Day weekend. We really loved it out there. Of course, that was when it was still 'country'. I haven't been there since 1994 and it was so built up by then. Looking forward to meeting you.

And all my Panama clothes are short shorts and tank tops. Heads up people.... 40lbs weight loss means I'm going to be in them Daisy Dukes.

I wish we had snow. We just have rain now.

CONGRATS on the weight loss!!
last night was weird - rain, then freezing rain, then sleet/hail mix then SNOW...sigh. We are SO looking forward to being warm.
