Wonderful dilemma!

I have a reservation for a grand villa at OKW next January 23 to 28th. I want to reserve a two bedroom from January 16-23 when the 7 month window opens up. My dilemma is this: SSR or VWL for this weeklong stay? Please don't say both! We hate to move.

We may have company or we may not. The grandkids are joining us at OKW.

I have never stayed at either and, I am sure, will be delighted with either.

I truly plan to let you all decide! Think of this as your good deed of the month!

Don't know how long you've been members, but why haven't you stayed at VWL before? Have you been avoiding it, or the opportunity never came up?

My "vote" is for SSR just because of the newness. We have just a few days left before we can make a 7month ressie there before our family vacation in December. I can't wait to stay there.

And I'd choose VWL because SSR is much more like OKW than is VWL - both in location & layout.

I have been a DVC member since June, 1992.

We have always stayed at OKW for our entire stay before, but this time we will have to change rooms anyway because we want the grand villa for our last 5 days.

There is, of course, no arguing taste, but VWL and SSR both appeal to me about the same amount.

I was just hoping I could get you all to make my decision for me.

I am with Carol on this, WLV would be my choice, because SSR is so much like OKW. Jan 17th is a holiday and a busy weekend at WDW and DVC but I think with a 2 bedroom you should be able to get it at 7 month window at either place. You also my have a shot, all be it long, of using the pool at WLV where there is some protection from the elements where SSR that time of year should be very cold with its open area. The ride to MK from WLV on the boat is nice, but that will be cold also, but different from riding the buses from SSR and OKW.

I would vote VWL... Only because you can go to SSR the next time you need a grand villa

I'd vote for VWL too

Change of area would be nice - part over by DTD and OKW and part over by VWL and MK. Plus everyone raves about how inviting VWL are in the colder seasons.

Because, if I am spending more points then for OKW, I'd go for a resort close to one of the parks, and frankly, I'm not too impressed that DVC didn't make the rooms in SSR bigger. I understand, and appreciate the fact that rooms "in the city" (BWV, BCV, and VWL) are smaller (and more expensive) b/c of their location, however, I feel that being in the "country", you should have a bigger "manor" to call home. I would resent the fact that I am paying more for SSR then OKW, and am not getting closer to anything (except a somewhat shorter walk to DTD), with SMALLER accomodations. As far as being new, frankly, I think that OKW is maintained rather well, and not "old looking" at all.
JMHO, hope that it helps...
PS Does anyone else share my views on SSR? I mentioned my view to one of my best friends, and she said that she thinks that DVC just made a mistake in making OKW units so big and inexpensive?!? I think that they made a mistake with SSR !

Some great suggestions. I liked the one about saving SSR for the next time at a grand villa. I agreed with the idea that VWL, with its fireplaces and lodge theming would be great in cool January. I also agree that it will be very different from OKW.
