Wonder Returns to Galveston - November 6, 2015

That is AWESOME!!! Have a fabulous trip and don't spare a thought for us poor souls unable to get our MM fix on. ;) I really hope you have a great time!
We will trade off, you can think of me next weekend and I will think of you getting 2 weeks on the ship::yes::

Has anyone been to grand cayman before? I'm trying to decide if we want to do the Boatswains excursion, but I've read that since the boat is just tendering, it's hard to get off and back on in time. If we book the excursion, do they let the people who have these bookings off first so you don't miss your time? This may be a stupid question, but I'm trying to figure out a game plan.

I haven't been to Grand Caymen, but I have done tender ports with DCL. When you book a DCL excursion you meet up onboard and they lead you off. They make sure you get off in time, so no worries. Concierge and excursions have priority, as long as you are with your excursion group.

The last time we were in Grand Cayman with DCL they give you a time and place to meet to get the excursion groups together. They have it down to a science so you will be fine meeting whatever time you choose. The only way you would run into a problem is if you book an excursion on your own as DCL excursion people have first dibs at the early time in a tender port. The boats they used were a good size so they move a lot of people quickly.

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea and that would have been embarrassing. This stinks. Hopefully not too many other changes before we go.
From what I am reading though, the policy seems to be pp so each person can carry on 2 bottles and a 6 pack if they choose? Not really clear on it as I have never taken alcohol on, just off.

Thanks for sharing, I didn't know this. Doesn't really affect me either, as I've never brought anything on board, but it is good to know.

The new policy is an "annoyance" as it will limit what we can take for a B2B. 4 bottles of wine would be great for 1 week, but I was hoping to bring more than that for a 14 night cruise. I think DCL must have a sneaky camera on me somewhere! :rotfl: This was going to be the first time I was going to bring a DCL litho to be signed and they stop that and now they are messing with my booze! o_O My reading of the new policy was wine OR beer rather than both. We don't carry on beer or liquor, but our friends sailing with us (who RARELY drink) really loved being able to bring on a small bottle of rum with them on their first Disney cruise. It's just another small perk that is going away. We haven't taken any alcohol on when cruising out of FL because of flying, so again, another perk of sailing out of Galveston was being able to carry on our wine.

It is an annoyance! As I stated earlier, this doesn't affect me, because I've never brought anything on board before (I'm in the rarely drink category, occasional glass of wine with dinner or specialty drink), but I understand and empathize with how it has affected others. In truth I'm not liking this trend of reductions and price increases. I understand it's a business and they are making decisions for their bottom line, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. :P The reduced hours for the pools and hot tubs does affect us. We have late dining and my DD likes to swim around 6:00pm while main dining is going on because the pools are less crowded, that's not possible if they close the pools between 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Also anyone with late dining doesn't have time to finish dinner and make it to a hot tub for relaxing before they close. No more signatures also affects us as I treasure the items we've had signed and the photo mats look SO cute with the DCL pictures.

BTW - they tried this before a few years back and they were bombarded with so many complaints they retracted it. My guess is that won't happen this time, because I'm sure they are expecting the backlash whereas last time I don't think they knew what hit them. :scared: But, I'll cross my fingers they retract it like they did before.

Seriously can not wait. I'm all ready to check in at midnight! Hope there is Palo seats left!

Another dumb question.... We got all checked in last night, I reserved our Palo dinner, and our Grand Cayman excursion, when do we pay for those? I've always paid in advance, but I was not given the option. Thanks for any help or advice.

I have never tried to prepay excursions, but I would assume it is like prepaying gratuities and you have to call DCL. Or you can visit guest relations onboard and put money/gift cards towards your onboard account.

Hello! This will be our 2nd Disney (surprise) cruise for our family and 2 girls-we are so excited! We would love to join the FE club for the November 6th cruise sailing out of Galveston. Like some fellow cruisers, I am wondering if I can be emailed directly about the FE club? We have a family of 4

:welcome:I can add you to the FE list, but since your posts are below 10 nothing will be private if posted here.
http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/ You can post here to get your count up, or keep posting in this thread until you hit 10. Once you hit 10, I can PM you for your email address. The only info I need is who is in the room(you can keep it generic by using DD for your girls, DW for you as I am not posting names), ages of kids, any allergies, room # and fave characters if you want that added. That info you can post here if you want (minus cabin # which I will get via PM). I will close the group at 10 cabins or one month before the cruise, whichever comes first. I am hoping more people find us as our group is small right now, but with less than 75 days I expect us to get more active:woohoo:

Hi! I'm so late to the game this time. EEK! Going to catch up on everything you guys have been posting. Today I will schedule all activities and dining. Hopefully I'm not TOOOO late! I AM SO EXCITED THAT THE WONDER IS BACK! We sailed in Oct 2013 and had a BLAST!
