Wonder Returns to Galveston - November 6, 2015

Thanks!

:sad::sad: Well tonight was disappointing. No family cabana's available, only 2 serenity bay ones (adults only), and the 1 excursion in Nassau we wanted to do for some dumb reason say's there is an age restriction and won't let me include DD(13) even though the description and pricing goes all the way down to infants.
Pooh, I was hoping for better news from you! Did you update to Windows 10? Or maybe your computer just doesn't like you! Gives you something to do now, haunt DCL's site for a cabana.

I haven't upgraded to Windows 10 yet on this laptop, will probably do that today. I think I'll call DCL about the excursion, since all the details about it say's it is for all ages and the pricing is from 3 - 9 and 10 and up, so she's in the same pricing bracket as I am. Why it says 'age restriction' and then not let me select her is weird.

I know people have been complaining about the DCL website, so maybe it's a glitch. I am disappointed for you about the cabana, but maybe one will open up before the cruise as I know concierge holds some back. The last cruise I booked was under 75 days and I had no problem getting one, and then I changed to the family beach with less than a week to go. All the while they showed booked on the web. Who knows how they really release them to the public:confused3

Thanks, I'll keep looking. I read a thread last night that said the Nov 11 Magic still had 3 family cabanas, so I was hopefully, but alas it wasn't to be. I bought a kyss bag so if we don't get a cabana - we're all set to keep things secure. I've been telling the kids that this may be a good thing, giving us more time to do some other things... like shop. :lmao:I didn't go into a single shop last time or get ice cream.

Last time at CC, I was either in the water or in the cabana. I did eat ice cream though, the banana flavor was awesome:mickeybarI wanted to shop on the way back to the boat, but I ran out of time. It was horrible, having so much fun at the beach that you have no time to shop!:beach:

Sorry you didn't get your cabana. :sad2: Don't forget that you can also go on a wait list when you board the ship if nothing comes available beforehand. We've never had a cabana before but we always go to Serenity Bay. I love the gift shops on CC, you can get island t-shirts that you just can't get anywhere else. :thumbsup2

Thanks, I'm looking forward to the shops! Where do you go to be on the wait list? Is it Guest Services?

I would think it would be at the shore excursion desk? I know there is one, and it would make sense to go there as it is an excursion. I may be wrong though and maybe someone else has done it and can give you a better answer.

I'll have to take your word for it that there is one, I honestly have never used it and can't recall where it is. :lmao:I always have everything pre-booked due to the "pre-planning sickness" I suffer from. ;) No worries though, I'm sure I'll find it! Thanks!

Only reason I know there is one (or there was on the Magic in 2012), we had a BAD excursion. Let me rephrase that, it wasn't bad, it just never happened. :sad2: First time DCL came thru Galveston was an experience for excursions and we spent alot of time at the excursion desk. Not quite the Disney experience we were hoping for, but luckily we weren't charged for anything. I haven't tried Galveston since, so I am hoping they worked all the issues out in regards to excursions and the tour operators.
On a happier note - I get to check in tomorrow night! About time!:woohoo:

Yes, I think it's true the cabanas are handled by the port adventures desk. On the Wonder guest services is one side of the elevator bank, and the port adventures desk is on the other, opposite Triton's and just off the atrium. Good luck to all those checking in tomorrow night! Our travelling buddies will be too. :goodvibes

I'm so sorry, that's not fun! Lets hope Galveston redeems itself and its all good. ::yes::

Hey everyone. We are probably joining this cruise rather than our Fantasy Cruise. Does anyone have a link to the "social media" page that shall "not be named" they can pm me the link? Lol.

MouseeauMob, I totally noticed your username, and looked at your signature in here... we sailed Alaska last year together! Small world!!!

I do apologize to everyone for "hijacking" the thread, but I wanted to THANK every one that has been so kind and encouraged me to keep trying!!!!

:dancer::jumping1::cool1::banana::banana::jumping3::dance3::dance3:party::woohoo::woohoo:

I'm doing the happy dance, I snagged a cabana today!!!!! I decided to check on my battery dying phone as I was leaving the office. The stress of frantically trying to get through the steps before my phone died almost gave me a stroke - but woo hoo, I finished before the phone died.

Yep! I recognized your username also. It really is a small world, there are some others on this cruise that I sailed with in 2013 and the infamous Key West torrential downpour/flooding. Of course now I won't be able to get that song "small world" out of my head for days. :lmao:

:thumbsup2Yay! I knew if you kept checking someone would let theirs go as I know the price has gone up since I had one last year. They are so worth the money though - a cabana with attentive staff, food, drinks, comfortable lounge chairs and other seating. And the absolute best part is the "private" beach in front of the cabanas. What # did you get? I liked the higher teens as they were more removed from the family beach so they seemed quiter, perfect for chillin in the hammock!:beach:

Oh, it is good to hear you say that! Most of the things I've read have not recommended the higher numbered cabanas. Last time we stayed in 6 which was very nice, we loved it, but the distance from the cabana to the beach was a bit long. Looking at the pictures I could find, it appears that 18 - 21 were closer to the water. We're in 19, which I hope is closer to the water and should be quiet. Distance to restrooms and food is a small price to pay for serenity IMO.

Things are shaping up so nicely and I'm getting very excited. :hyper: I checked our cruise again, and the excursion we wanted that wasn't available when we booked is now available. I'm going to chat with the kids and see if they want to switch to our original choice or stay with the one I booked instead.

We've started working in earnest on our FE's, which is also adding to the excitement! We also bought packing cubes to use this go around - we tried them out on a short road trip to a wedding, and loved them so we'll see how we like them for longer trips. Oh, and the Kyss bag we ordered to keep things secure on the family beach arrived, the day before we were able to book the cabana.:rotfl: Oh well, it's a beautiful bag, and I'm still really happy with the purchase. We had it personalized with Cruising Through Life image, text, and our name - it looks amazing. Now I just need to find a new formal dress for my DD(13) who has shot up!

Well, that's all our updates, how about everyone else? Where are you in planning, organizing, and preparedness?

We were in 17 and I loved being a bit more removed from the family beach noise. The people in the cabanas at that end didn't seem to be around or stayed out of the water most of the day :confused3 Not sure why. Water was fine and I didn't hear the Jaws song ;) Distance to the water is deceptive as the cabanas curve around the pond at the higher numbers, but I didn't think the walk to the water was far, maybe 20 - 30 steps at the most? Running to the water will help that:rotfl2:
In other news, I have decided I needed a Disney fix so I am flying to WDW next weekend. I need a MM fix::MickeyMo And I am sure I will do some FE shopping while I am there to help justify the trip. The airfare was just to good to pass up and I can talk myself into a Disney trip anytime:woohoo:

That is AWESOME!!! Have a fabulous trip and don't spare a thought for us poor souls unable to get our MM fix on. ;) I really hope you have a great time!
