Wonder - January 21, 2011 The Cruise To Nowhere In Particular..

I am off tomorrow for the MLK holiday, 2 more days of work on Tues/Wed. The kids still don't know. I have a laundry basket downstairs that I'm tossing things as I sort laundry - so far as they know, it's just "stuff I need to put away" but it's full of stuff I need to pack. I think I'll start packing after they go to sleep tonight or tomorrow night. The weather sounds like it will be just perfect!

Thanks for doing this..

I wanted to ask...since everyone wanted to get together..would you prefer to meet at the cabin in the afternoon instead of the evening?

Either way is fine...just let me know...I can open it up about 2 if you prefer...

I am good with that or whatever the consensus thinks. I am just so appreciative that you are giving us the opportunity!

Afternoon might be nice as my kids will be busy by the pool or in the Oceaneers Lab. Night can be busy on a cruise ship and once it is too late the kids will be out of the lab and wanting to go to the cabin.

But I'm not picky either. I'm glad to get the opportunity to meet everyone that I've been conversing with for a year.

So begins day 1 of my two day work week.

Why is it that these two days seem like they will be longer than a normal five day week??

Anyway, not sure if anyone else is doing other LA stuff but my plan is to go to a taping of Jay Leno on Wednesday (assuming I get in since they overbook) followed by HAIR at the Pantages (a friend of mine who was a performer at WDW is in the tour). Thursday at Disneyland all day. Friday morning to the ship!

followed by HAIR at the Pantages (a friend of mine who was a performer at WDW is in the tour).

We are thinking of doing HAIR on Thursday night. I was planning on skipping it, a bit before my time/generation, but then they announced $25.00 rush tickets, so I think we're going to go just to see it.

Jay Leno tips, check to see who the guest is. If they have a big name band, it's almost not worth going until you just want to camp out for tickets and then immediately go to the stand by line for the day. If it's just a "normal" show, you should be fine.

Can someone post the info on the stateroom tours? We'd love to get a peek at the one of the suites.

Thanks!

Do you think the Club and Lab will be open with scheduled activities on Friday afternoon? Isn't it usually just registering and visits with parents? With the short cruise, my girls will be anxious to start playing!

A Little Pixie Dust (Des) is offering to open her suite (rm 8030)on Friday at 2pm :thumbsup2. for those who want to see it.

I am also wondering about this, i know the first night is usually more like an open house. I do hope they have scheduled activities since we are all looking forward spending time at Adult clubs/bars.

I have a "ticket" for Leno, but as with most TV it is no guarantee of entry. Trying to decide how early to get there. I am thinking I may go straight to the hotel and check in and then just head over to NBC. I might try to take their tour and then get in line. My flight arrives at about 9am and the latest they will let you get to Leno says 2:45. I figure if I get to NBC and see people already lined up for the show...then I get in line. If not...I try the tour.

Anyone know how crazy seeing World of Color is these days? There is only one show Thursday night, but it is a school night and everything. I was last at DL in July for the 55th and it was new and C-R-A-Z-Y then. Has is calmed down at all??

I don't know about the viewing lately, but what we did was purchase a 'picnic' lunch from Wine Country Trattoria. The meals were quite tasty and we got a Yellow Fastpass. We didn't crowd to the front of the FP line, but did line up shortly after the allotted time. Once they walk you down to the viewing area, everyone will rush to the lower level. Just take your time and stroll the the far left of the 2nd level and grab a spot right in the corner. You will have an excellent view. The cast member in that area just smiled at us when he saw us walking over. He said 'you did your homework didn't you?'. The 2nd tier didn't fill for another 20 minutes or so and even then wasn't extremely packed.

Love to do a taping. However I always have kids when I'm in LA. I'll be in DL on Thursday though.

Yay...its almost here! Is anybody else having a hard time focusing on work or life today??? LOL

Thanks for updating the FE lists! Very helpful :)

Thanks for the update Des...hope you are having a great time. enjoy your final days of the PC cruise. Can't wait to celebrate your birthday in your fabulous suite!

What time is everybody arriving to the port on friday?

It feels so funny to not have huge packing lists and to do lists. We're keeping it all light and simple.

I agree with this. Afternoon would probably be better.

I was there in December and it is still pretty crazy. There were 2 shows and we went to the first show and it was way crowded. Trying to get out was almost as bad as trying to see the show in the first place as you those who are are arriving for the second show trying to get in.

That is what worries me about a night with only ONE show! I may end up splurging for one of the meal packages. Looking at the picnic deal...doesnt look too bad. I would feel silly having Ariel's by myself!

We're in a one bedroom suite right next door to the Royal suite.
I'd love to see the big one though.
We had it originally booked for a Caribbean cruise but had to cancel it

Brief explanation here: Boredom, Disney Cruises & Chit Chat.

As long as my hubby doesn't mind we can have people over at our place to have look see too!

Does anyone know about parking at the dock? How much it costs etc?

(Answered my own question... $12 a day to park)

Ouch! $12/day! good thing it's a short cruise!

Parking at the airport... parking at the port... but still all a drop in the bucket compared to paying for boarding for 2 dogs! $50/day...

Can't wait till we go on our 11 day trip in May -- you do the math...
