WL transportation is great!

Just back (12/3 to 12/10) from our first stay at WL. We've done Poly and Contemp previously and I was nervous about being "disconnected" from the monorail.

I'm pleased to report that boat and bus service from WL to parks, DTD, and Contemp were all wonderful -- we all felt that we spent less time waiting for transportation this trip than any other. Boats were always the best/fastest option, but even bus service, for us at least, was quicker than at the other two resorts.

So, if WL is in your future, don't worry about getting around WDW!

Trying to decide if we should rent a car. Full size reserved for $150. We will be staying at WL 12/15-20. Have read that it takes a long time to get to DTD by bus and car is quicker to the parks. what do you think?

I would sa that the car is typically quicker to the parks but probably not by much. Travel time should be about the same for both but maybe shorter for a car if you don't believe speed limits apply to you . Now factor in the time getting to your car at WL, parking the car in the lot, walking or taking a tram to the park entrance as compared to waiting for the bus you just missed and getting dropped off closer to the park entrance, it is probably pretty close in total time. The only park that it never pays to drive to is MK.

The big plus for a car... I am guaranteed a seat at the end of a long day in the parks and not being sardined and standing for the ride back to the resort.

I have to say that we never, ever, once wished we had our own car, and had NO problem at all getting to and from DTD from WL (and no problem getting seats either way). In fact, not having to ever drive himself anywhere was a lovely part of the vacation for DH, who has a long commute every day.

I would say save the car rental $$, and if you ever find yourself wishing for private transportation, hop in a cab!!

Great to here...I'll be at WL in February and was extremely worried about the bus/boat service......had a horrible experience at POR before.
