I planned this trip in Jan.( staying at WL standard view ---no codes available) thinking it wouldnt be crowded. We are going 11/28-12-5. Now i am nervous and feel like we are going to have to battle sumer time capacity crowds. What is everyones opinion, are all the hotels booked? I have read how popular WL is during the holidays and I am hoping that is the reason for the full resort. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Are you looking at the WL resort or at VWL? I just checked disneyworld.com and they are showing availablity for your dates for a regular room.
If you are looking for a villa or studio, DVC members book those up really fast when they become available since it's a popular time for us with low points.

We are going Dec. 3-11. I was really hoping to get a discount for the WL standard view - no such luck - they had nothing available.
I have called back several times - still no availability.
We will be staying at CBR unless I can get a discounted room at WL.

I called within hours of the announcement of the Sep-Dec Passholder and FL resident codes and found nothing available except suites at the WL. Even with flexible dates between Dec 1 till the 18th when our blackout starts. Even tried BAT ... But did get POR at $79 and will keep trying for one of the cancelations that always occur a the Lodge. We usually have success eventually, but I have learned to never cancel anything till you have the one ressie you want in hand.

Im sorry I may have written my post wrong. We are lucky enough to already have a standard view room booked. What I was wondering is do you think all of the resorts are filling up or is there just a lack of codes available and are the parks going to be packed? I hope that makes sense. Thanks

I am wondering about this also. We are booked WL 12/4-12/11. Anybody have an educated guess on how busy the parks are going to be?

Hi...........I used to live in Door County. This is about my 15th year of going to WDW the first week in Dec. and to be quite honest I have never ever had to pay rack rate for a room at the WL and I still have not been able to apply a code to my room there. The first week of Dec. is usually very uncrowded and perfect for park touring. I just have not been able to figure out what this year is going to be like, everything seems to be booked. But I do not think it will be bad, after all kids are still in school and most want to spend the holidays there so I think once all the hoopla from the codes dies down you will begin to see a more truer picture of what the crowds will be. Just be forewarned the weather the first couple of weeks in Dec. can be iffy................it can be hot/warm, no humidity one day to downright cold and grey the next day. Be prepared for it all!

If it makes you feel any better, BC.YC and BW are also all sold out.

I was also wondering how busy it will be. I talked to a CM who said for some reason the week of Dec 5 is busy. Not sure how busy but he said there is high occupancy in all the hotels. We decided to go the week after. I really don't want it to be busy. My husband hates Disney but Disney crowded is even worse for him.

Every time I have booked with Disney, it seemed like all the resorts appear to be near selling out at the time I made my reservation, but when we arrived, the parks were not crowded and the resorts were nowhere near capacity. The first week in Decemeber has historically been one of the lowest attended weeks of the year. I don't see any reason that this would suddenly change this year.

I think most of what you are seeing is that Disney cut way, way back on the discounts this year, so there were less codes available. Even so, Expedia and other sites are still ofering the BAT code. I suspect there are lots of rooms available and that Disney is simply trying to get people to book at rack rate by making less discounts available.

Another thread mentioned that Pop Warner was on that week. I wonder if that has anything to do with the Deluxe Resorts also being busy?? All-stars should be packed but I don't know if this the reason for the Deluxes??

This from Themeparks.com:
"The Pop Warner Super Bowl (Dec. 5-11) celebrates its 75th annual event and its 10th consecutive year at Walt Disney World Resort with youth football national championships involving more than 60 teams from across the country competing in four age groups from 8 to 14 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. More than 70 percent of all current players in the National Football League started their careers in Pop Warner.

In addition to the gridiron competition, close to 300 squads will be ready to strut their stuff during the Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships at The Milk House."

Oh No! I forgot it was Pop Warner week!!! The last time we visited WDW in early December, the parks were overun with players and cheerleaders. They were EVERYWHERE! I wouldn't have cared, except that they were extremely loud, (constantly yelling), unruly, and never appeared to have chaperones. After a while it kind of got on my nerves -- and I'm usually pretty easy going! We're going again this December -- I forgot about the cheerleaders.

I just wonder if Disney is releasing less rooms for discounts at first and then if they don't fill up, and as it gets closer they add rooms to the discount block. The reason I think this might be what they're doing is when I can go to disneyworld.com I can get a standard room AT RACK RATE for my time period (Dec. 16 - 21) but during my time frame, no rooms.......
