Wk Of Nov 3 - WISH Walking/Running Club

I'm drinking a Slim Fast right now too, but I want my money back, mine only has 30% of Molybdenum!! But it does have 35% Pantothenic Acid, so that's good. I guess. :confused3
Krista - Pantothenic Acid:scared1: !?! Good? Slowly now, set the can down and step away!

Pantothenic Acid put the Pa in pa-thetic.
It put the Pant in Pant-y Lines!
But worst of all, it put the PA in PA, home of the dreaded Steelers!

Again, step away from the can!

princessrunner: I am now doing all my long runs by time and not miles. I was obsessing on figuring out the miles then psyching myself out with how many miles it should be that running by time seems to be better for me. Even my shorter runs now are times and not miles. My shortest runs are 30 minutes. It works for me!

Stephanie: glad to hear you are on the mend and hope it continues. Chicken soup, they say, is good for many things!

WWDave: my daughter has been following the San Diego Zoo's panda naming for the baby panda. They say they wait 100 days before naming the cub as is Chinese tradition. So, are you going to wait 100 days before making a decision on the avatar?

cguill: :welcome: It's a great group!

littlegreydonkey: great news!

Cam: good to see you again!

Yesterday I ran 60 minutes and today is an XT day. Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Martha: Thanks for the reinforcement. I was beginning to feel I was the only one obsessing about how far I went. Now I just have to tell myself it does not matter how far, it is how long. I figured I would not go under 30 minutes unless I got pain. I was mad about having to walk some as I was running before but now, I just have to take a breath and let it go. Walking...good...pain, not so good!! :goodvibes

I have a nagging fear that I have stress fractures in both legs (that the one in the left foot never really healed). I am so determined to do the Half that I'm considering not going back to the doctor until January and then planning on taking whatever time I need to heal then, and just dealing with the pain until then. Am I obsessed?

Jackie - If it is a stress fracture you definitely should be taking it easy. If you subject it to repetative stress the bone can break completely.

Kristi - I used to drive a Matrix and I LOVED it! I used to have the XRS - tons of zip and plenty of room to haul stuff around. The only reason I don't have it still is because I moved back to Canada from the US and it wasn't worth it to import the car across the border. And then I moved home and the car was more expensive than I could afford here. Shucks!

cguill - Welcome to the group!

Optimator Mike - Molybdenum...that cracked me up! Good job on getting those 8 miles in.

Lou - I hope your knee is feeling better.

Panda Dave - I vote for the panda going down the slide! We'll be in WDW on the Tuesday and Wednesday post marathon, but I already booked Le Cellier and the Biergarten, but on opposing days. I feel a bit silly for going to eat at the Canadian restaurant, but I'm curious to see what constitutes Canadian food, because despite the fact that I live here I feel a bit clueless about it. The only remarkable Canadian food I know is poutine. Fries with gravy and cheese curds....yummy!

800px-

Stephanie - Take care of yourself and don't worry about that LR this weekend. I hope you feel better soon!

Krista - I hope you feel better soon too!

Martha - Good job with your training!

In other news - I finally booked flights to WDW for January!!! I found the perfect flights on air miles yesterday so I booked it. Now how is this for crazy....I have to work Wednesday, but I want to get to the expo on Thursday with plenty of time to buy Goofy merchandise. So....I'm taking a red eye at midnight on Wednesday and I get in at 1 pm on Thursday. I can sleep fairly well on planes so here's hoping I don't regret this crazy decision later....

Hey if any of you guys listen to the DisUnplugged - listen to this week's (11/6) e-mail show (part 2). They read another of my e-mails, mentioned the Marine Corps Marathon, and talked a lot about the WISH boards.

Then I shall send you a whole case. What is your favorite flavor? Roethelisberger Raspberry? Ward Wild Cherry? Or I bet Polamalu Pineapple. Yum, yum!!!!

5 Miles for me today, went pretty well. Again on the treadmill though, oh well, better than not running at all. Have a good day everyone ... :cool1:

Greetings Racing Team -

I did three miles this morning. Not too exciting but nothing hurt so THAT is exciting! I think my knee has taken the hint. Or maybe it got scared I was going to make it do Pilates again! Ha ha!

Helen - YAY! :yay: Oh I'm so glad you're coming for sure!!

Hey look! It's Mike Optimator!

WWDave - Cool! :thumbsup2 I will listen as soon as both my managers are gone, I mean, as soon as I get home. Yeah, that's it, as soon as I get home. :rolleyes1

Kristi - I'm no help in the car department. I want a Viper. :cool2:

Good morning WISH Team.

Party Panda is going into hybernation for the next 2 months and Warrior Panda will be the bear.

I want to get through the Goofy without looking and feeling like I was hit by a charging rhino. So the next 2 months I'm all about taking care of business when it comes to my training.

My problem is, I know how, but I've been to lazy to put all the pieces together. I'm pretty good about the warm-up but my cool down is usually way to short and I neglect my stretching and core work. That is going to change. For 2 months I've making a surpreme effort to put it all together.

Today's workout was as perfect as I could make it:

A half mile easy warm-up, walking from 3 to 4 mph on the tready.

3 miles at varing pace walking from 12 to 13 mpm.

A quarter mile of easy walking to cool down.

200 meters of pool running with high knee lift.

A good calistetics routine in the pool for extra resistance.

Stretching in the hot whirlpool tub.

Then a good low fat high protien and carb lunch.

I can't figure out how to get the panda avatars I've found to load. I'm going to edit avatar and there is a block for the info and a browse button for everything I copy in there will not do anything wnhen I hit save.

Have a great day y'all.

Warrior Panda:hippie:

Well.... I am giving myself a HUMONGOUS pat on the back today!! Here's why, last night at 1 am (technically I guess that's morning huh?) little Lucas (3yrs old) decided to come climb in bed with me. Not a horrible thing usually, but once he gets in bed he won't stop talking and playing. I finally get him to settle down and notice that he's really breathing kind of funny, real fast like. All of a sudden he tells me he's gonna be sick, I grab him and fly to the Master Bathroom where thankfully we made it to the toilet in time. Unfortunately, we spent the entire night with him sick. The reason for the pat on the back?! Because now that he is feeling better, I pulled out the treadmill and still ran 10.5 miles on no sleep!! Goodness knows I REALLY didn't want to, but I talked myself into it by stressing the fact that this was the first week I have ever hit 40 miles, and that I definately wouldn't be able to do that if I bailed on todays run!! So that's it, I am done with that run. I still have 2 miles with Michael this afternoon when he gets home from school. Then 20 on Saturday. And all still relatively pain free!!

Here's todays splits -

Mile 1 - 9:07 Mile 2 - 8:37 Mile 3 - 9:04
Mile 4 - 8:37 Mile 5 - 8:37 Mile 6 - 9:13
Mile 7 - 8:37 Mile 8 - 9:06 Mile 9 - 8:53
Mile 10 - 8:03 Mile 10.5 - 4:38

10.50 miles
1:32:32 (8:48/mile)

Off to go check on the little one now. I hope I get to check back in later.

Dana

Dana: 10.5 miles on no sleep at 8:48 per mile!?!!! :worship: I am soooo not worthy!!! Awesome job!

Just wanted to share the news that I just got off the phone with WDW, and have booked our entire families stay at All Star Sports for Marathon Weekend!! YAY!!

Dana

Dana - SOrry, can't find the pat on teh back smiley, but I agree with Matha. :worship:

cguill - Welcome! Can't wait to hear more about you!!

Helen - Yay!!! Hey, Scott adn I are doing Ft. WIlderness Segay tour on Tuesday at 11, care froa re-match? ;)

Jackie - RICE and advil. See a sports doc. They will understand your need to keep pgoing but, if possible, set you up so it doesn't get worse. Is ther a pool to train in? You really need to take it easy on a stress fractuerr. If it gest worse, you will be intoo puch pain for the ahlf. :wizard:

Cam - Do you really think anything but a new thread could kill teh training threads???? You can't be serious! :rotfl:

Wow, did't realize how slow I was today until I had a hard time caatching :rotfl: to click on it!

Kristi - WOo hoo for working out!

Stephanie - :wizard: Hope you're feeilng better!

Lou - :wizard: :wizard: for and injury free Philly!

OK, I still missed a bunch, but it's teh best I've doen in a long time.

I did 60 min iwth no hurt last night. Dr. Scott (he's reading Chi Running)told me shorter strides can help hamstrings, so I gave it a try. Doesn't helo that the doc told me the shorter leg would always be prone to hammy issues. Well, it seemed ot work, but short strides feel like I'm workign 10 times harder. If it works and I don't hurt, though, I'm on it!

Jackie

Oh, no, Jackie!!! I am so worried about you. Are you sure you should wait that long for a diagnosis? Sending you pixiedust: and a

Cam...maybe we need a new acronym...BTO (Band Takes Over) ;) Kaley's football team made it to districts so marching season's not over yet, Veteran's Day parade this weekend, Xmas parade next month and then concert band season starts :scared: How about you, Jackie?

Mel -- That is a great acronym!! Congrats to Kaley's school! University of Delaware is now 8-1 and going to championship playoffs, so Jenn's season is extended (God only knows the impact on exams so far and I am so glad we aren't going away over Thanksgiving because she wouldn't be going with us). Andrew's school also is now guaranteed a spot in the state championships and his band will play at every football game. He also has 2 Christmas parades, one the day after Thanksgiving and one a week later, so we are in for the long haul with him, too!

Weeeehheeeeee - Tim's holiday got approved. That's it, we're definiltely 100 per cent coming. I'm gonna go Gooooofffffyyyyyyyyyy

Oh, Helen! I am so happy! We haven't seen you since Main Street in Disneyland during the inaugural half-marathon week! Can't wait for January. Now just be sure to plan your flights so you can be at all the WISH meets!

Hey all!

Cam - Hi!! Just wanted to say how impressed I am with your effort and positive attitude while dealing with the injuries. How is Howard? Let him know that we all had a great time at MCM. Lot's of rumblings about a big group of us trying to do Philly next year. Are you guys in?

Thank you, Mike!! I am so inspired by everyone here and so many people have worked through much more serious health concerns, and really, we're supposed to be "endurance" athletes, right? ;) Howard is very much planning on MCM for 2008 and now you tell us you're doing Philly instead? :sad1: Are we always going to be a year behind you? We are supporting our friend/my partner, Jessica at Philly next weekend. It will be her first marathon. I don' t know how anyone can survive that without the WISH team, but we'll be there this year as spectators. Right now, Howard is beyond excited knowing that come mid-May, his training/competition schedule will be governed only by his desires and personal commitments, and not by his school commitments. :woohoo:

Hey, did everyone see the ToT picture thread I started? Lots of fun ones there, including a great one of Anne as a gorgeous blonde, Kristi as a saucy wench, and one of Krista and Stephen being their wonderful, fun-loving selves! Oh, and you have to see Craig as a surfer dude and Martha as the crazy elephant driver (yeah, that's not fear you see in Judy's eyes, it's pure, unadulterated joy!) I think Judy and Martha and Kathy and I had more fun on Dumbo than all the children combined! :grouphug:

Thanks WTPCLC - Look forward to getting to know all of you as well. You will probably get sick of me :rotfl2:
